Andrewoplis Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Flying Turns.... OPENED?! I..I..this must not be reality!!! All joking aside, it is great to see the ride finally open. It looks like another unique and quirky addition to the parks ride line up!
eddie200330 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 A 400lb weight limit for the train... Does that result into the fact that heavier people can forget to ride this rightaway? From the pic posted it looks like a scale at each gate so I am hoping that is a per "car" rule. If not they would never be able to fill a 3 car train with under 400 unless they were all kids.Plus from the shape and size of the car, I think it might be kinda hard for someone of a really "large" stature to even get in and out.
HowieP Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Well I am glad this ride is finally open. Looks like I'm going to Knoebels next year!
kailisun98 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Holy Cow! It opened! It really opened! I'm definitely going to Knoebels next summer!
Ultimate Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 (edited) Can someone comfirm whether it opened on the 4th or the 5th? The timezone difference is confusing me, and RCDB still says it's under construction (Bet you there, Duane ). Also, I checked the Facebook page - The 400 weight limit is per car, not per train. EDIT: Obviously, the above comment was a joke, since Duane Marden is almost always very quick (and accurate). And Robb, I know how time-zones work. You may not realize this, but when me, knoebels and this forum are all in different time zones, it can be difficult to tell what date it was when it opened. Edited October 6, 2013 by Ultimate

And you're complaining that Duane wasn't updating his website THE EXACT SECOND THE ROLLER COASTER OPENED OMG!?!?!? Get off our website, kid. You don't belong here. Edited October 5, 2013 by robbalvey
Philrad71 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Glad to see this has finally opened...been a long time coming!
cfc Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Now Orphan Rocker needs to open! This would mean the return of C'thulu and the beginning of the End Times! It's good to hear that people are enjoying Flying Turns. While it may not be "top ten" material, the ride is unique, and I'm glad the park finally got it going.
Blatch Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 It lives? My god. So they go from not knowing when it's going to open from announcing it just a couple of days before the opening? Amazing. Good to see that this thing is finally up and running.
Shockwave Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Now Orphan Rocker needs to open! This would mean the return of C'thulu and the beginning of the End Times! It's good to hear that people are enjoying Flying Turns. While it may not be "top ten" material, the ride is unique, and I'm glad the park finally got it going. My sentiments on both counts! It was a very brave project to resurrect a ride which hasn't existed for several decades, and I'm delighted that Knoebels' time and effort has been rewarded.
SuperShawn Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Thought this day would never come. I'm not going to drop everything to get there, but this is a great added reason to visit Knoebels again. Not that the park needs another reason to visit
robbalvey Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 And just like that... Flying Turns has officially opened to the general public today!
milst1 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 If I didn't feel like crap have a ton of work to do, I'd be at PPP right now.
GrapesLie Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 If at first you don't succeed redesign redesign redesign! This is amazing news! And Thank You Knoebel's for not giving up!
Josh Linn Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Don't know if they're all going to Knoebels, but traffic in Catawissa is horrible right now...I've never seen it like this. EDIT: they're having some sort of event in the middle of town...just a warning if you're headed that way.
cfc Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 The Covered Bridge Festival is this weekend. It 's a big draw.
robbalvey Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 (edited) Here's a few more pics from today's opening. (Thanks Nicole for the photos!) Edited October 5, 2013 by robbalvey
Josh Linn Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 The Covered Bridge Festival is this weekend. It 's a big draw. I know...I live in the area...I've never seen traffic like this other than when the local high school football team has a home game. I've gone this way to the park hundreds of times including covered bridge/PPP days.
Pyrozooka0 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Never thought this day would come. what is the development hell coaster now?
Josh Linn Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Standing in line now...pretty sure it broke down. I haven't seen a train cycle for like 10 minutes.
DoinItForTheFame Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 The goverment shuts down, flying turns opens...
GnastyGnoric7 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Good to see Flying Turns open, I will make time next year to go up to Knoebels and ride this.
