Friction is proportional to the gravitational pull, so friction would also be a sixth. Coasters would work on the moon but go slower, simple...

they would also accellerate and deccellerate much slower. If you built kingda ka on the moon, you would only need 1 sixth of the speed...

yet if you build MF, you would need it to be 6 times higher to achieve the same velocity on the drop

This thread needs to be resurrected every December, a true classic and not in a good way.

^Here's to Christmas in July.

In an effort to continue the brilliance of this thread, I now pose the next question. Which company will own the moon?

Sorry all, with a stupid article like that, it's only natural that this thread should come to mind.

Or Apple.

With a bit of creativity they could create a big Apple logo in the sky

I spotted this at Great Adventure earlier this year. I was going to use it in a Photo TR, but I ended up not doing the TR and left it sitting on my hard drive.

Of course, does it even matter as the world's going to end in 2012 anyway?

^The world may be ending, but the moon will live on. Long live coasters... on the moon.

Hahaha yes, long live coasters on the moon. But honestly, I don't think it would work, just because of the gravity. Maybe a gyro drop would work or something... But it would be very complicated. If it comes down to it, I'm sure it could be done.

Coasters on the moon may only be ridden by our draconic halves, which was possibly the only thread ever created that was stupider than this one.

Some great discussion in here though, I'm completely amazing by you guys' scientific minds!

What would coasters be like on the moon?

Sweetness, pure sweetness. I've always dreamed of walking on the moon, and riding a coaster there is like the best of both worlds!

Ya cuz we all know NASA has never faked anything... what we really need is some type of proto type ride.. a spacey mountain thingy, where we could test these theories of Rides on the Moon.

You can have P & M on the moon but W wouldn't light due to lack of oxygen so that ends this thread coasters can't work w/o the PMW triangle.

Yes, but you could always have brownies....
