Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^ You make very valid points, and what you said is very logical. But, I still feel that the only way SFStL would receive an RMC is through a Boss conversion. It would be very nice to have a brand new RMC woodie, but I think its one of the least likely Coasters we will receive. I think the two most likely options will be a B&M Hyper, or a Eurofighter.

Personally I think SFStL doesn't need anouther wood coaster They already have a fine collection with Screamin' Eagle, Boss, and American Thunder. The park lacks inversions and I'd rather see something of significant size (140-150 feet high) with several unique inversions. A B&M sit down or floorless would be a fine addition.

Honestly, I'm very skeptical of corporate making a 20-30 million dollar investment in SFStl. I'm just trying to think of a cheap solution, but provides high thrills. I will point out that everybody thought SGGAm was only going to get RMC through a American Eagle conversion and nobody never guessed they were getting a woodie until the mayor of Gurniee opened her mouth. I'm not trying to make a argument for RMC, I'm just trying to think of a cheap-high thrill coaster and RMC seems to be only thing that fit the bill right now.

This is why SF should pick up Led Zeppe/Time Machine for SFSTL. They can get it at a Fire Sale price, SFSTL would be a perfect relocation for it.

They need Hang Ten/ Shake Rattle & Rollercoaster more.

^ I have to say I disagree. We have enough family oriented Coasters. We need more thrills at our park. I think Hang Ten would be better suited for another park, maybe like MA, or Great Escape.

You guys are missing the junior coaster that little kids can try. Michigan's Adventure has Big Dipper and Zach's Zoomer. Great Escape has Frankie's Mine Train. You are the only Six Flags park without a junior/kids coaster.

A kid has to 42" or above to ride any of the 9 coasters this park has, SFSL is the only Six Flags park that doesn't have a kids/family coaster, all the Cedar Fair parks have kids coasters and basically every other theme park in the country does. It's the most glaring hole in this parks roller coaster lineup, I understand why the park got ride of the old kiddie coaster, but the fact that in 6 years since it was removed (and two different corporate management teams) the park doesn't have a kiddie coaster is pathetic, it's even more sad that SFMM has four of them now.

^ Terminator is OK and X2 is worth traveling for, just the one time experience. Other than that, I agree. I had a mostly miserable experience at MM.

I know some people are absolutely opposed to a 4th wooden roller coaster, but considering the very tight space RMC fit Goliath into and the relatively cheap price (compared to steel coasters) that these RMC woodies cost. I seriously think that an RMC woodie has to be a real possibility if they're going to replace Ninja with another coaster. I think the one thing to watch would be if they build the kiddie coaster where the go-karts are (Keeps the coaster count the same) and then remove Ninja for about two seasons. Wooden roller coasters are a lot more complex at designing, with all the footers and bents. They're going to need to have the land completely cleared so they can get in and survey it, then it'll take a year to finalize the whole design process. This all complete speculation on my part, but if Ninja is removed at the end of the 2014 season and nothing is announced to replace it, I wouldn't be shocked if a RMC woodie is announced for the 2017 season. This time table is based off the one that happened with Iron Wolf being replaced by Goliath at SFGA

It would be a bad idea to add another wooden coaster before doing something about the Boss, first. It's not going to happen. I don't even think a forth wooden coaster would nearly as well received with the GP as high thrill steel.

Either way, this thread continues to focus on coaster discussion, when the park clearly doesn't care about coasters. Boomerang was the 'big budget' high thrill addition, last year. That will probably be the only new coaster news in STL for a while. Everything else is just day dreaming.

Just a couple of notes:

1. Bumper Cars - When I said an open air bumper car ride, I simply meant that it wouldn't be surrounded by walls. It would still have a roof(which I think is necessary for the ride to operate). It would just be brighter than the old ride.

2. Dark Ride - When it comes to the dark ride, I can confirm that when it is updated, either they will buy brand new boats AND redo the entire water pump and trough system, or they will turn it into a land based ride. It will most likely be a land based ride.

3. Ninja - The Ninja will only be replaced when they add a completely new coaster to replace it. After branding themselves the coaster capital of Missouri and placing so much focus on that title, Dave said that they will not drop below nine. Even if they replace the Ninja with flat rides, another coaster will have to go in somewhere else.

4. Carousel - Yes, that plaza is on a hill, but there is enough flat space for the ride with minimal earth moving needed if they choose to do that.

What do you mean a land based ride? Also any updates on the hannibarrels?

He means with a track or trackless as opposed to it's current water chute based ride.

Cross your fingers for a Time Machine. Hehe

I'm actually hoping we don't get it.

Yeh.....true but they have a better chance of getting a used B&M from Freestyle than they do getting a brand new coaster at all. I hope they really get something big in there soon.
