gerstlaueringvar
Makes more sense to put the Jr. Coaster around Bugs Bunny Land. If they tear down Screamin' Eagles first queue house (no longer used) and use the surrounding space wisely it would provide enough room for something custom. A Gerstlauer family shuttle coaster would be nice to fit in there. But I'd like to see a major Euro Fighter. SFSt.L lacks a scream machine. HWFan
I just had a thought. I've heard people say that the GM of SFStL (his name escapes me at the moment) has said that he wants a better course for the Moon Cars, and that the Go Karts will not be around very much longer. I bet when the Go Karts are removed that is where the New Moon Cars Course will go. I think that's a good area of the Park for them. His name is Dave Roemer, and he is the park president. He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. (He's the one in my picture to the left.) We talked a lot about the park over lunch this past season, and that's where he talked a lot about the different things he would like to do. Unfortunately most of it needs to be taken with a grain of salt because things change constantly even at the last minute. It's basically things that he would like to do. He mentioned moving the Go Karts to the parking lot because where they are now is a great area in terms of terrain. I could see a kiddie coaster taking their place partly because it can get pretty steep, and I'm not sure what the maximum grade for the Moon Cars are. It could cause problems, although that is just complete speculation. He and I had a whole conversation of having one single kiddie area as opposed to spreading some of the rides out a little bit to help cater to multi-aged families. If you ever see Dave out in the park, he tries to spend 3-4 per day I believe, don't hesitate to stop him and say hi. He loves to talk about the park past and future, and he loves meeting coaster enthusiasts.
HWFan
For everyone that doesn't follow the park on Facebook or Twitter, this past year they have be participating in #ThrowbackThursday, which is a trend where you share old pictures on Thursday. While the park is covered in snow today, I thought it would be fun to share them with you all if you haven't seen them. Enjoy. "Do you know what world records this classic coaster held for 2 years when it opened in 1976? #throwbackthursday" "#ThrowbackThursday Who remembers this "monster" ride? Do you know what ride took it's place in the park?" "#ThrowbackThursday One of the rides at the park when it opened in 1971 was the Mule-Go-Round. Do you know where the Mule-Go-Round was located?" "#ThrowbackThursday Do you know what ride currently sits in the old Mississippi Adventure location?" This one was actually shared by the soon-to-be-constructed Adventure Pointe park in Texas, but I think it's a great shot of the train and skyway. Notice how small the trees are. "#throwbackthursday When this looping coaster opened it was located where BATMAN The Ride currently sits, do you know the name of this coaster and the year it opened?" "#ThrowbackThursday Who remembers this former attraction? Do you know where it was located?"

Geauga Dog
I absolutely LOVE that aerial shot of Screamin' Eagle. It was my favorite ride when I visited in 2010 and running great. When and why did they remove the double up after the far turn?

nrs2420
It is not there, don't know why they took it out and changed the banking. I think they did it around the time they changed the trains. The old trains were way better looking imo

StLCPfan
The double up after the 180 degree turnaround on Eagle was eliminated when they did the backwards trains in '96 I believe. I also remember reading somewhere that the two 90 degree turnarounds had their track banked significantly more to make them more comfortable during the backwards version of the ride. SteveStL
The removal of the double up and addition of the banked turns were probably to ease the stress on the structure and keep maintenance low. They probably figured ~ 95% of the folks wouldn't care or miss it - we are the other ~ 5%.
Woodie Warrior
Without the "lol" the sign would have looked like they forgot to change it after the water park closed for the season. With the "lol" it shows that they were intending for it to be a joke. I can't believe we are debating over three letters written on a park sign. The Screamin' Eagle ran backwards in 1994, but I believe that the ride was re-profiled before that, maybe when the ride got it's new (current) trains in 1990? jrkstl
The Eagle turns were banked to their current form in 1990 when the "New! Faster!" Screamin Eagle went to the current 2 bench PTC trains. The double-up hill thingy after the 180 turn was removed in 1996 or 1997 I believe.
Vonni
I talked to Dave about running the Screamin' Eagle backwards again and he said the reason it rarely runs backwards is the trains cause more wear on the tracks when they go backwards That makes sense, and I want Screamin Eagle to be around for a long, long time, so I'm completely fine with that lol!
