Mrlittle
So it's just the first weekend and it wasn't super packed like SFOT often gets. I've heard a lot of positive comments about the operations and overall park. That's great to hear since the last few years have been negative. I'm still very skeptical of a single long queue to enter the park. Just seems to say "welcome to six flags, home of the queue line". Perhaps if they moved security forward and just dropped the thumb print scan, they wouldn't need the long queue.
BrandonR
Whoa holy crap, they replaced Newman's Corn Dogs with that Go Fresh place? They replaced, by far, the best place to dine in the entire park with THAT? I knew they were adding Go Fresh but not to replace Newman's. I'm a little heartbroken to be honest. Where's the outrage here people? And yes I know there's still the Tower location, but the Texas location was virtually historic!

Perhaps if they moved security forward and just dropped the thumb print scan, they wouldn't need the long queue. If this means it's a single line but you get to move to the next available entrance/metal detector, I'm all for it. It's way more efficient and fair than individual lines, especially when you get stuck in a line behind someone who has trouble with their pass processing or that doesn't understand how metal detectors work and that they need to remove all metal items prior to going through them. I got into an argument with employees a year back after waiting behind someone for 10 minutes due to them having endless ticket problems when they should have clearly just removed them from the line and handled it separately instead of holding up the entire line. chadster
Front gate remodels on the scale that SFOT would need to do aren't cheap. Electrical, new fencing, enclosed covering to house the machines etc all add up. While it may seem cheap, I've been involved with projects of a similar type that hit 500k in a matter of no time.(a super small sporting venue) But even a full blown remodel doesn't solve the problems people have with their tickets holding things up(mostly because people are dumb) nor does it solve the even worse problem of line cutters. On numerous occasions I've been in line for a period of time only to see 20 teenagers 'catch up' to their friends. Um no. This simple and essentially no cost solution has already shown to be effective in solving most of the complaints people have had just trying to get into park. Even better not once did I hear anyone complain about while waiting for the next ticket taker. It seemed to be well accepted by the public. Guy T. Koepp
Thanks for the photos! I'm looking forward to checking out the new Justice League ride and finally riding Judge Roy Scream. When I was there for a TPR Bash event a few years back, near closing time, we were one train from boarding Roy Scream when someone puked on the train--and we had to rush off to an ERT session on Shockwave. I remember this. They boarded us on the train, then evacuated us after the puke had been discovered. Good times! Good times!
BrandonR
... also Superman no longer has a 3 person much check you routine, instead one checks, and off you go, greatly improving dispatch times. In fact most of the day the line was a one shot wait! Just noticed this. That's somewhat surprising, given the big safety reason they switched to the 3-person check in the first place. Jaykethekid
Are obnoxiously annoying teenagers(I am a teen but whatever) very common in Dallas and the area around the park. We were riding batman, and this group of teens in front of us would not stop screaming, from sitting in the station all the way to getting off. Good gosh, it was so bad. DJeXeL
I had more of an issue with annoying teenagers @ SFFT than SFOT.
Guy T. Koepp
^^I have always found that the combination of teen + group + Texas = Unholy Trinity of Obnoxiousness! The only thing worse would be 12yr old girls + group + Texas + Spiders = Bowel shaking, Cthulhu rising, End of the World, Kill me now Obnoxiousness! ^Still in Texas. Texascoaster89
Good to see the park has made some improvements. I never EVER complain but I finally couldn't take it anymore this past season watching the park I grew up just run so poorly. I actually called their HR and managed to get a big shot in ride operations to let me vent for about 15 min. Good to see enough people have complained to speed up the process a bit! -I also hope that a rework of the entrance is in the budget someday. That seems to be the thing nowadays is to rebuild your entrance with a coaster attached to it (Gatekeeper and Cedar Point & Fury 325 with Carowinds). chadster
^I take you don't like CP? Anyhooter, I embarked on a journey to the park today for the explicit reason of seeing how the front gate changes were doing under super high volume. The secondary entrance was open, line of about 250 people long and moving sloooooow. Bypassing it and expecting the worst at the main gate I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. About 400 people were snaking through the queue and moving at a steady pace. Instead of one person at the end of the queue directing you to the next entry point as had been the case over the weekend, the procedure was modified slightly to split you off Mr. Freeze style. So at the end of the queue you went left or right (very short distance, max 10 people in line on each side) thus dramatically improving efficiency even from the weekend. Based on my very scientific experiences, a crowd of this size would have taken me 20 minutes to get through the entry, today, 6 minutes. Great things are happening, stay tuned, I understand more is on the way.

It's fun watching the park evolve for the better finally. -As far as the Cedar Point hater, sorry man, I made my first visit ever there in September...I see why they are one of the best, the rides are amazing, the employees even better. Only the food sucks, but who cares with that lineup of roller coasters lol

Kyle Coleman
Since I couldn't make it for opening weekend going to try sfot again on 3/21 and was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what I can expect in terms of crowd size. Also, going to be solo on this one so if anyone in the area is going to be around and doesn't mind showing a rookie around feel free to pm me. chadster
The 21st will likely be busy, last saturday of spring break and all, but getting there at rope drop you should be able to knock out 5 or 6 in the first 90 minutes. I'll be around I'm sure. Also on the solo front for those local, I rode solo in the back row on Freeze the other day, nothing was said, so here's to hoping that rule is gone as well. Linders
We went on Saturday and again last night for a couple of hours of coaster therapy and crossing our fingers that Freeze would be open. Our hopes were dashed pretty quick on that one, even though we heard periodic test trains being dispatched. It was rather amusing as we stood in line to hear it go off and see the flood of desserters get out of line in the Batman line, and high tail it to Freeze. Whomp whomp. We were waiting it out and listening for more than one dispatch in a 5 minute span. Nope. The thing that I noticed yesterday that I didn't pick up on Saturday was how quickly they dispatched those trains. The line was into the ques just past the tunnel, which is not what you want to see on a typical Batman day. But the line moved pretty constant, so we waited it out. It was a lot faster than I expected. I commented to the ride op about how quick they are getting the trains out. He told me they added more people to the platform. Yes!!! Finally!!! Giant lines moved pretty quick last night, too. We rode Giant twice on Saturday. We were the first train out for the day on ride one and the second one took forever because of multiple break downs. I had heard that wasn't the first break down for that day on Giant. I Never thought I'd say that I have voluntarily ridden Judge Roy 3 times in one visit. But we did! In the back, no less. Hands up, not in "brace position!" I also noticed additional padding in the seats. If my butt gets any bigger, I will need to shimmy into the seat! It's great and the fact that we had to wait in line to ride it yesterday tells me that word is getting out. I'm pleased with the changes that management made. Now if they can get Freeze's issues resolved. One other thing I noticed when we were on Titan last night was some nice LED lights on Texas Giant's lift hill. I don't remember seeing them before. It looks better in person. The iPhone picture doesn't do it justice. Texas Giant is running as good as she ever has. We loved it and went back for more!! Looking forward to this season!! Look! A line for Judge Roy!! Texas Giants new lift hill lights.

Being there in the summer with my mom who that week wasn't feeling up to riding anything I was forced into riding by myself and had to deal with silly rule multiple times and the only explanation I got was it was for safety purposes. BrandonR
But then who will be there to witness should something happen to the backseat riders?! They should just add an extra car to each train with two trained Six Flags witnesses!
