Texascoaster89
It's good to see it get some attention, but at the same time, I'm looking forward to the day that the whole entrance to the park is revamped and given a new ride to bring it all together. Similar to what Cedar Point did with Gatekeeper, and what Carowinds is doing with Fury 325. I love our park, but it's feeling older and stale, and frankly, I think changing around the gate entrance configurations and adding one by Titan or something would make the walk to the front and leaving so much easier. I'm one of those that personally would rather walk instead of waiting on the rusty trams lol
Genx24
Hi everyone. So, I may be visiting Dallas in May, and of course when I learned this, the first thing that popped into my head was "I'm going to the original Six Flags!" But first, a couple of questions: 1. Does the park have daily operations before Memorial Day? Their website isn't showing hours for May yet, and if they do not have daily ops, I can't go. 2. How are crowds usually during this time period? (Of course, if the park doesn't have operating days, this question is worthless.) 3. Any chance Justice League will be finished by this time? Or should I not hold my breath? Thanks in advance for any answers/advice.
bigboy
The park is usually open for a week or two of regular hours before Memorial Day weekend. It's usually not incredibly busy on the weekdays. There may be school field trips, but it's not like a spring or fall weekend or a holiday. I don't remember the last time a new ride didn't open sometime after spring break or before Memorial Day. If it isn't open by the time you're planning on going, I would assume something has gone pretty wrong.

Mrlittle
^ Nothing new, it always does when they start testing it for the new season. Crazy that the park opens in just a few weeks.

I have visited before, and I am assuming on a weekday before Memorial Day will be pretty light in terms of crowds. As for Justice League, I am not sure but it seems like Six Flags usually debuts their new rides on Memorial Day weekend so you may be out of luck. It is a really nice park in the chain. Their operations are spotty but you should have a great time still! NTaG is amazing.
Kyle Coleman
Going to be heading to sfot for opening day and was wondering based on past experiences what I can expect in terms of crowds. I can get a flash pass if I need to but would prefer not
bigboy
Opening weekend is usually not terribly busy. Of course, warmer weather may mean bigger crowds, but it's unlikely that you'll need a flash pass.
josephcissell
Hey guys, I am planning to visit SFOT for my first time in a couple of weeks either Monday, March 9, or Tuesday, March 10. I know that’s during spring break week in Texas, but that’s when I can go. Given that I am a poor college student, there isn’t really room in the budget for a flash pass, however I could extend my visit to two days at the park if it was really necessary. Having lurked in this thread a good bit over the last year or so, it seems that this park tends to suffer from particularly bad operations, so I am braced for that. Any advice on how to best attack this park or what crowds are historically like during spring break week though? Thanks!
Jaykethekid
Well, when I visited, I could on,y fit everything in in two days. I even had flash pass the second day. Try and get. It's of your rides in early into the day. That's all I kno bough so I wish I could help more.

Spring Break, while busy, has its lighter days on Tuesday/Wednesday and with the park open 12 hours you should be fine. It should also be noted that not all (but pretty much most) Texas schools are on spring break that week nor are the surrounding states further adding to the lighter crowds. But outside of that, with Mike Apple having retired, rumor has it the new hat in the office is making changes with the goal of improved operational capacity and efficiency. Another option in your favor is the weather. Keep an eye on it, if the rain chances are 40%+ it's likely crowds will be lighter, sure the rides might go down for an hour or two but re-rides will be a plenty. Seabass2001313
What if the second addition is a Soarin Eagle Zipline connected to the oil Derrick?
bigboy
I'm not sure how "new hat" Mike Apple's replacement really is. He's been at the park for nearly 25 years. That being said, he's a smart guy and is quite capable of improving things if he's given the right support from above.
chadster
Six Flags Over Texas will be closed tomorrow due to snow and the fact that Elsa could make it warmer.. It will be the first time in the parks history that they have not opened on opening day.

BrandonR
It does seem like the park is opening especially early this year. It's typically in March. Can anyone remember the park opening for the season in February before?
bigboy
I can't recall any specific years, but I believe the park has opened in February in any season where the 28th or 29th has fallen on a Saturday. The first day of the season the first year I worked at the park was on February 29th. It's not incredibly common, but it's happened before. They also attempted to open earlier in February the year the NBA All Star Game was at AT&T Stadium and the weather ended up being terrible. I wouldn't count on the park being open on Sunday either. Forecast high of 50 with rain.
