2. There would not be any steel spotted on site if it was just being retracted like thunder run was You do realize this is a steel structure with wood track right? Of course not... the ride was closed before you kids were born..
3. I hope to make my first trip in the next year or two, but it will be at least three days...
4. I sill cant help but think you guys are getting your hopes up. There is nothing so far to indicate that RMC's involvement is a complete overhaul of TS, it could be a refurbishment such as ThundeRun...I'm cautiously optimistic...
5. I would have loved to have rode Drachen Fire, it looked freakin awesome...I personally love Arrow loopers, they remind me of my childhood....
6. This was honestly great man, I found myself being sad on the third day, not wanting to leave and I wasn't even there, lol. I've yet to make the trip up to the Point but this was pretty much what I've seen in my head...
7. So you thought the owner of Kentucky Kingdom should disregard a major attraction based solely on your recommendation?!? Get over yourself, lol. Being a roller coaster enthusiast does not suddenly make you an authority on running a successful amusement park. Coaster enthusiasts make up maybe one percent of the people visiting amusement parks. For the average guest in Kentucky Kingdom T3 is the exact same ride as Banshee. It is a steel coaster that hangs bellow the track and it has inversions. They have no idea what the difference is between a Vekoma or a B&M....For the cost of a new train there would have been no bigger bang for their buck...
8. Kings Island used to have a set of speed slides - Fastracks - that the mat racer replaced. The tallest one used to scare me every time. Dang, I forgot about that bad boy...
9. It's in the terms of service and posting rules. I'm not concerned so much about your well being but the fact that you are not following the rules set by Robb is annoying. Once and a while is ok but you have habitually done it on this thread and Carowinds and a few others. It gets annoying. I've posted the TPR posting rules for your reading enjoyment. Postby robbalvey » Sun Feb 13, 2005 8:37 pm Theme Park Review Posting Rules! When posting to TPR please try to keep the following in mind: 5. Do not post for posting sake. What does this mean? If all you do is respond back to posts saying "Yeah, me too" or "I agree" or "Thanks!" you are not adding anything to the conversation. If you do this every once in a while, that's ok, but we have users here that seem like all they are doing is trying to post as much as possible to increase their post count. Well, there is no prize for having high post count, so please, only respond if you have something to add to the conversation. 6. Don't be "annoying" - For example, if you see that the "fart thread" has been closed, for reasons like "This was funny for a day, and now it's just stupid" don't start ANOTHER "fart thread." In short, annoying members will end up being banned. 7. Check each forum for specific rules - If there are specific rules in each forum, they will be posted as a "sticky." Please read these for further instructions. For example, in the "Professional Amateur Videographer Forum", unless you are uploading a file, creating new topics is not allowed. Overall, we're not trying to be mean or strict, but the fact is that we now have over 6,000 registered members, and we need to keep the quality of the board at a high level. We don't delete, edit, or close posts very often, but we will have to if these simple rules are not followed. So let's review..... Theme Park Reviews Forum Posting Rules: 1. Be descriptive! 2. Use the search function. 3. Spell check your posts and use proper grammar. 4. Do NOT use "internet shorthand." 5. Do not post for posting sake. 6. Don't be "annoying." 7. Check each forum for specific You're breaking rule number 6...
10. People these days spend so much time taking pictures, they cant actually enjoy their vacation...
11. And with that type of car, I'm sure you got home rather quickly Not to mention how many tickets he got on the way home. I do not want to know what he pays for insurance each month! lol I don't get tickets... but I do occasionally write them. Hold up, we got a badass over here....
12. You son of a bitch... Seriously though, I remember the year before son of beast opened there was this large mechanical crate that the supposed son of beast was trapped in and it warned of the of the arrival of the coaster. It was pretty amazing...
13. I have no stance on the popularity of I305...the only point I'm trying to make is we are all coaster fans here, there is no need to be rude to each other. All of this shit is just fun.
14. I really don't think the trim cuts off as much speed as you think. The trim may not have even been activated on the test run. The helix comes directly after the airtime hill-- helices shave off a lot more speed than hills, combined with the fact that this helix is absolutely massive. Is it possible that the trim is there to act like a sensor? Perhaps once the train passes the trim the next train can be dispatched without E-stopping the train on the lift? The trim looks like it didn't do much, and is probably only there if the ride is really hauling. I think Fury 325 is gonna be a huge hit for Carowinds. I'm assuming you're talking about this one... All I can say is that I've never been on a B&M that has one of these trims where you couldn't feel it. Leviathan has TWO of these in fact... And you can most certainly feel each one. That's not to say it's going to cut down any enjoyment of the ride, and if anything, be happy there is only ONE of them on this coaster! Oh, what a load of bullshit. You say that like it's a "bad" thing. The GP eats that ride up like there is no tomorrow! Just go read the comments on our YouTube video. I've been at the park when the ride breaks down and people freak the hell out. And remember when the ride was down for a couple of months a few summers ago? KD's Facebook page was on FIRE with people wanting to know when it was back open. So don't try and imply that there is anything wrong with I305 because it kicks people A$$ across the state of Virginia. Way to be a total dick
15. I'd Kinda have to agree sadly. While this is the closest park to me, about an hour or so away, I'd much rather take an extra half hour and go to Kings Island. It's far superior in every way and I don't have to worry about spending the day with every cretin who climbed out of some backward ass holler to take their family on vacation here. Kings Island will always be considered my home park while Kentucky Kingdom will always be that awkward cousin who's coming out of rehab...
16. I would much rather see a new Jurassic Park ride to tie in with the new film coming out this summer.
17. I'd get one just so your assured multiple rides on the parks newest coaster, Looping Dragon. Ok now that was funny!!
18. I kind of got this idea from reading through some of the responses on the B&M thread, but what coasters have you ridden their first year opening at a park. I'm usually late to the party so for me there aren't many. I just happened to be in Orlando the year Islands of Adventure opened so, The Incredible Hulk and Dragon Challenge. Other than that I guess Fire Hawk at Kings Island, although I know it came from another park, I did ride it the first year it opened at KI. Ok, so lets hear yours.
19. Son of Beast was an amazing coaster with or without theming...
20. Dang I remember going to KI the year Flight of Fear opened. It was called The outer Limits Flight of fear back then. The Queue line was backed up all the way out down coney mall. I remember waiting in line to ride it and some guy came by with a measuring stick and said I was too short to ride. I was always a short kid, it sucked.
21. I would never use one. It has nothing to do with the cost either or the ethics of cutting in front of someone else. For me waiting in line is part of the fun of the ride, even more so if the track interacts with the queue line. Waiting in line gives you a chance to build up anticipation for the ride especially when I was younger and was nervous about going on the coaster. If it takes longer to ride all the rides I would just spread it out over two days.
