  1. You don't think the new owners may close it down?? I hope not. I also worried that they will do away with the theme park, and only have it as a water park..
  2. I just went for the 1st time this year. I see they are going wild with security check points again. The park wasn't too bad this year. I did notice attendance was a bit low for this weekend (as it is a holiday weekend) Scrambler, and Twister were down. I got a good look at ROS new train, and I don't think it is new... On the rear left side of the 1st 4 cars there are a lot of dings, and missing paint. My guess it is a remanufactured model.
  3. Lasso isn't going anywhere. However I didn't know the park ripped it down that far for winter.. It could use a new paint job, and repairs..
  4. Possibly, but it also could be that they are renovating the Lasso. Lord knows it needs a new coat of paint. It could also use some work on the hydraulics. I think Lasso was installed back in 1981.
  5. Well to be fair it isn't the mechanics at Darien Lakes fault either. They have a bare bones skeleton crew working through the winter, and there is so much work to be done. Again blame to CNL for the meager budget Darien is given to work with.
  6. Yes Rolling Thunder is by far more popular than the Ranger. Never saw a line for Ranger that long. However Rolling Thunder doesn't have the capacity the Ranger does. It does have a much more speedy, and less hurky jerky ride experience. My guess is that Pirate, and Twister will be the only 2 Huss rides left..
  7. I understand that it takes quite a while to get parts from foreign manufacturers. But, if these rides were so popular, why doesn't Darien Lake replace them with a newer model (if possible) rather than replacing them with nothing? I agree that they should put something in the Rangers place, but I think it's is going to be a while before you see anything. It all depends on CNL, And premiere. Remember once they got rid of the UFO it took a couple years before they got rolling thunder.
  8. It's not so much that you can't get parts for rides from Huss, or Mack. It's the pain in the ass hassle of getting foreign parts. If a ride becomes a maintenance nightmare, and constantly needs special order parts then it no longer is worthwhile.
  9. My guess is that it's in a pile of parts and one of the parks junkyards. Either across Allegheny Road, or there is a Burn off sumner road where they keep a whole bunch of rides parts.
  10. I can confirm... The Ranger is gone... Due to business I had to attend to that took me past the parks rear Sumner rd. I took a peek, and gone... I know this is no surprise.
  11. Just my opinion.. I think the Ranger should have just been converted to a Rainbow.. The Great escape in lake George did the same thing with their Ranger. Rainbow parts are more easy available than the Ranger, and the park wouldn't have to spend too much on construction.
  12. I haven't been on for a long while... Anything new for Darien this year?? Has the Ranger been removed?? Has anyone cleaned up the junk out of the park ie.. Cuda falls, and junk coaster pieces??
  13. I haven't been on for a long while... Anything new for Darien this year?? Has the Ranger been removed?? Has anyone cleaned up the junk out of the park ie.. Cuda falls, and junk coaster pieces??
  14. I don't know either, but if you ask me I think Darien Lake should have gone with a Huss Enterprise ride instead of one made by Heintz Fahtze! Being the only one of its kind... Must be hard to get parts for it when it breaks down.. It has a lower capacity with only 16 cars vs 24, and I am sure that it doesn't lift as high as it used to. I am sure it went the full 90 degrees..
  15. The one thing that always puzzled me about Darien Lake is the Silver Bullet. I know that in the 80's Huss used Darien to showcase their rides. Why didn't they wind up with a Huss enterprise vs the Silver Bullet by Heitz Fritz. I researched that brand. It was the only enterprise type ride that they built. Anyone know the answer?
  16. If Premier is sticking around Next season.... does that mean that CNL will still be the EVIL OVERLORDS next season as well?? Or is the sale of the park Emanate??
  17. Huss no longer makes Rainbow rides, but I think that Darien Lake can get something similar to a Rainbow ride and maybe they can themed to fit in with Rowdy's Ridge. Ya that's what I mean.. Arm, and other manufactures still produce that type of ride.. I don't even think HUSS exists anymore??
  18. I have an idea for the soon to be vacant spot where the Ranger was... A Rainbow/1001 Naughts type ride... Think about that. It would kinda be the best of both worlds for Rowdy's Ridge. A Family/Thrill ride. Should fit right in where the Ranger was since both rides take the same blue print..
  19. The Ranger is getting removed from Darien now for sure... Some of y'all are nuts .. YOU DON"T NEED ANY MORE FAMILY RIDES!! 3/4 of the non up pay flat rides are Family rides. Lasso, Hay maker, Giant Wheel, Pirate, Silver Bullet, Antique cars, Scrambler, Corn Popper, Sleigh Ride, Moose ride, Heave hoe ride, and Hornet ride. Now lets look at (Flat Thrill Rides) Non up pay. Twister, Blastoff, and Rolling Thunder. GEEZ See what I'm getting at here It's unfair to the big kids..... I say just move an existing Family ride to Rowdy's ridge maybe the scrambler, or Hay Maker to keep the family theme.... Coasters, and Thrill Flats are what the park needs... We all know that HFE had a new coaster, and Giant Frisbee ride in mind for the park... If they get it back I can see those plans going back into motion...
  20. That moose ride is extremely popular with the younger set, and a real blast to ride to boot. To each his own. Considering how bland that area around Scrambler/Grizzly Run was before Moose on the Loose and Rowdy's Ridge it was a huge step forward for Darien. I was expecting someone to say replacing UFO with Rolling Thunder but that was also a good move on their part. Well, regarding the fact of Darien Lake replacing UFO with Rolling Thunder was not a bad idea, it's one small step for Darien Lake to win back its "fans". But it could have been worse. One other thing about Darien Lake besides the removal of 'Cuda Falls (*takes a big drink*) is removing the dump bucket from Hook's Lagoon. I have to say that I honestly miss judged Rolling Thunder... However Darien Needs more thrill rides and big ticket coasters... I'm not going to gripe about Rowdy's ridge, but okay you have a strong family ride line up already!!! Start breaking loose with the big toys for the big boys!!! You have a big vacant lot in the middle of the park that used to be called cuda falls. That's my bitch about The worst Replacement... Something into nothing....
  21. When Darien Lake gets a Suitable new Coaster period.
  22. All Speculation aside I believe the sale of the park is fairly certain... CNL has waved the white flag as far as Amusement parks are concerned..
  23. I think whom ever buys it from CNL needs to do a major renovation of epic $$$$ or I'm not ever spending my $$$$ there again
  24. Man it really sounds like crap is getting bad at the park this season.... Boomerang, and MotoCoaster are down, Corn Popper with 4 cars broken, Ranger is now a non operating eyesore, and a giant void in the middle of the park with a defunct water slide (Now named Mosquito heaven). What is CNL trying to do?? Turn DL into Trailer-park trash heaven?? SELL THE DAMN PARK CNL!!! Oh yea... Almost forgot A rotting Roller coaster a cross the road, and 1 train operations all summer long on all coasters.....
