GwaziBSRider1
I was at the park the past two days and it was indeed packed. The operations were horrible (no surprise) and a few of the employees were so terrible that I was forced to report them to a manager. Overall, the rides were great. NTaG earned a very respectable #7 in my top 10 steel coasters. However, I wouldn't fly all the way back here just to go to this park and I won't be back for quite some time. gerstlaueringvar
^ SFOT was horrible in the past summer. Even worse than SFMM. Maybe it will eventually be the next Astro World? Now we need to find places for NTaG, Shockwave, Mr.Freeze, Judge Roy Scream, Titan and Runaway Mine Train.

ArizonaGuy
they will NEVER close the original park. Yup....I agree with you there, plus attendance at SFoT was always quite a bit more than SFAW had. They really need to make some changes in management and clean house at SFoT. It seems that SFoT is turning into the SFMM of Texas when it comes to hospitality.
BigBomer
they will NEVER close the original park. It's a State landmark so they can't... they could strip it and run though....

But then again it reminds me of the last 7-8 years that SFAW was open. My theory is that management is doing a poor job at training and managing their employees. I really do have to wonder how much past experience their operations managers have had. It really wouldn't shock me if the company may have moved the ones from Astroworld over here after the park closed (that's depending on when their quality went downhill). I was really shocked and so close to going to Guest Services after witnessing how the Titan crew handled a break down. Basically the attendant on the loading side decided to go down the row telling each person that "we are currently closed because the lapbar in the back row won't lock and that we are going to get maintenance down here to take a look and it and figure out a temporary fix for it". By this point I was starting to get a little annoyed. A few rows later, a girl around my age questioned him on "why the fix needed to be only temporarily?" Just then, the girl at the control panel literally shouts across the station to her "Well everything is temporary!". I pretty much had it at that point. Before could say anything, I made myself leave the station before I would say something. I was really mad at that point and as a ride operator at another park. It insulted me. It didn't make me surprised at all that the Texas Giant accident occurred there (this was before most of the information and investigation was released). Let's just say that I really hope that they clean house in upper management of their operations department as they really don't seem to know how to do their job or energize their employees. Let's just say that I kind of think that the park had the worst employees of the whole Midwest trip (yes, even beating Mount Olympus).

ArizonaGuy
Yeh it's crazy how bad operations have gotten at SFoT. Hope they can take feedback and improve.
YoshiFan
It's a shame to hear how badly run the park is. I had always thought that it appeared to be one of the better parks in the chain but after reading the last couple of pages of the thread and seeing what people said when TPR was there this year, it sounds like they really need to change their operations. I was thinking that as well before I visited. I was expecting it to be a great park and since it was the flagship park, that would take great care of it and make it an example to lead by. Instead they made it a textbook example on how not to train and motivate their employees.
joco07
As a former SFOT employee I 100% agree with all of this. management needs a change, and needs it now. Operations are horrible I was a VIP Tour Guide and they were terrible when I would be doing tours. I had to leave the park after god awful management and they need change so fast. The park is falling fast and needs to recover. I don't find they think of guests first they think of them self's.
eddie200330
Over the last few years I have noticed this trend in all aspects of life. It seems the mentality of American workers in the youth movement just don't really care. I know that does not say the same for all of them, but the majority of young people I come across in every day passing is getting worse. Blame society, blame parents, but it is a sad fact of where this country is headed.

Koasterking48
It's quite a shame that this park's management went from one of the best in the chain to the absolute worst. I hope management gets their act together pretty fast.
Aceattack52
^/^^ Do they check up on the forums? I know SFOG used to check to see what we were saying on here and someone (I think it was Brad) used to post things on the SFOG thread.
SharkTums
^I don't think anyone important at SFoT checks here...same with SFMM. You can tell the parks that care and respond to customers on social media and in general. Unfortunately two of the largest SF parks just don't care. alilstronger
I have never been to the park and plan on visiting next summer. Looks like it will be a credit run and than I am out of there.
TexasThrillSeekers
I will say that OT hit a bump for sure. The operations declined after the Giant accident, which is understandable. However, I think the park improved towards the end of Fright Fest. I really think the service has improved as well as operations. IMO I never really thought the park had bad service...just bad operations at times. But again, I think they have improved, and I think they deserve more credit than they are receiving from this forum. Don't kill me! Just my opinion. Linders
I have yet to visit the park and not have Titan go down at least one time. I have never seen them go row by row and tell the problem. That is so crazy. I have had it go down after having been seated and lap bar down. They turned around and popped them open. I have never had them tell us what's wrong. We went this week and my issue was on NTAG. After a lengthy barf clean up, they finally opened back up and we got on (my 2nd time to ride it that day) and as the lady checking restraints came to mine she proceeded to question me about my hat tucked under my hood. Well, it's 37 degrees, and so I had a hat that tied under my chin to protect my ears from the cold wind, and it was completely covered by the hood of my coat that was draw strung pretty snug. She saw the edge of it and insisted I remove it even after I showed her that it was tied down and my hood tied down. It hadn't been a problem to any other ride ops, Titan and NTAG included, all day. It wasn't and hasn't gone anywhere. I had been asked in visits past. As soon as they saw it was tied down and my hood was secure they were fine with it. As soon as I got out of her sight I put it back on! It didn't budge! She was just being unreasonable. I understand why they don't like hats on that ride, but secure hats aren't going anywhere. The stair lady was pretty clueless about a disabled entrance/elevator. My hubby had a problem with his ankle and was on crutches. I asked her about an elevator or disabled entrance and she had no clue. They send out surveys like they are trying to look like they care. I wonder if they actually read them. TexasThrillSeekers
^ I believe they read the surveys, & I think it's a good idea that they send surveys out. To me, asking public opinions shows that the park cares.
Vonni
Now, I know this might sound a bit harsh, so please don't take me for being an ass, but I think SF Corp needs to completely clean house for 2014 season at SFOT. I'm talking Management, Ride Ops, Food Service Employees, EVERY department. I'm not one for people losing jobs, but I'm also not one for people doing a piss poor job either. I think this would benefit the Park tremendously. Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk here.

Not necessarily...Promoting/hiring from within, transferring employees from other parks, Job Fair with a great interview process. Just a few options. It could be done. Will it? No. But it is very possible.
