Here is another random place to post a picture or pictures of your most prized item(s) you own.

Or the coolest DVD box set ever.

Though my Miyazaki/Ghibli DVD collection would take 2nd place.

Mine has got to be the full Buffy Season 3 cast/Joss Whedon card/Spike autographed pictures. A good friend put them all together in a cool frame. No I did not buy em from E-bay.

This is a great thread but when me and my friends played this one late night/early morning months ago we put limits on it because everyone says similar things: household pets and photographs are a given, assume they are already saved. Just gives a bit more variety!

Excepting the aforementioned, (can't be arsed going taking pics, it's 4am) I would save my dvd and cd collections, two specific ornaments that have great sentimental value to me, and my piano, which is truly my prized possession. How the hell I'd manage to drag the piano out of the house while escaping from a fire I have no clue...

EDIT: Just realised what that box set actually is... Billy West is a complete and utter GENIUS!!! Love him. Should NOT have been replaced.

LOL So true...Ive had the pleasure of moving a real piano...not in a fire, but a Baby Grand. It sucked.

Me? I have a box that contains everything sentimental between myself and my girlfriend. That would go and then my Harddrives on my computer are swappable to Id yank those out (unplug cords - takes 2 seconds) and throw those in box. I suppose I would then try to get some other pictures I have but Im trying to scan them all so I can just yank my Hard Drives and then print them out later.

Id yank my Bible and Id probably try to find my Harry G Traver book since very few are left and I paid 50 bucks for mine in mint condition.

So much to think about...I think in a fire Id grab whatever came to mind first. I just hope I never have to go through that.

Mine's an upright so at least it fits through doors, but still, moving house with it was a total bitch! If it was at all possible to save it though... Every piano is different, I love the thing. But yeah, fingers crossed I'll never have to.

With Katrina doing what it did, I've heard this asked a lot recently. Assuming I have my kitties, I'd grab my folder of negatives and burned CDs of the last 15 years next. I have all my negatives in one place, as well as CDs of recent digital pictures and "all my important files" on my computer. I specifically put this together after Katrina just in case I was ever in a "grab one thing" situation.

Assuming that is already protected (since it's photos), I'd grab my scrapbooks next, as there is tons of non-photo stuff in there that I'd hate to lose.

Assuming those are protected also (since they are like photos), I'd grab my teddy bear next

This is a very interesting question that I hadnt really thought about. Id probably take my whole computer tower. Its not that heavy but id probably panick trying to take out the hard drives and just end up messing them up. Id also take my dvds and my safe. It has all the important documents and stuff. Even though its fireproof, I still would grab it.

Thats about it. I dont have a lot of sentimental stuff here because I just moved from CA and all my important stuff is there.

Julie said it best.....pitures. After making sure the cats were safe, it'd be a large RubberMaid thing full of personal pictures/negatives, and several disks full of digital pictures I've taken over the years.

Unique possesions are great, but most of the things I own can be found in some way, shape or form on Ebay. They may not be the originals, but most things can be replaced. The only thing in my, or anyone else's house that cannot be replaced or duplicated are pictures. Once prints and negatives of your memories are burned, there is no getting them back. That's why I've actually worked really hard over the past year to consolidate every pic and/or negative I've ever taken so they're ready to be the first thing moved out of the house.

EDIT: Lou actually metioned it first....gotta give credit where credit is due.

^ I would also take my External Hard Drive

I have scanned all of my pics and scrap books and put them all into the external drive. I also have old home movies, as well as new ones.
