That's aweful!

I seriously wonder how many more of these accidents happen without word of them getting out to the west. I have this sick feeling that the ones we've heard about in recent weeks aren't all that's happened.

Thoughts of healing go out to the families of those who lost their life.

Yikes. I have hade that happen in China when TPR was there. The ride op started the ride without ever checking our restraints. When it started to move we quickly buckled the belt and brought down the bar. It was a kiddie flat ride that bounced you a lot so it was no big deal other then the fact the ride op never checked.

The way a lot of Chinese park operate really is waiting for accidents to happen. Yesterday was Labor Day so the crowd must be insane. Still, ride operator can't just skip the procedure!

My prays goes out to the family. That's awful to hear. I love thrill rides, and I know that I ride at my own risk, but when the workers don't check and make sure the restraints are done correctly, that's no excuse.

This is awful to hear. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victims. If I visit China I would probably only visit the reputable parks and even then make sure to buckle/strap myself in as quickly as possible.

You know the ride had to be a Chinese knockoff if they could start with restraints still up...sad for the victims.

^ That's a good point. That's why I'd stick to reputable parks that buy from known manufacturers in China. Disney, Ocean Park, Happy Valley, etc.

So this ride is ok but the new US designed woodie failed the Chinese safety inspection!?!

I'm guessing "payola" is a big part of a Chinese safety inspection.

Yeah, that's pretty sketchy.

Sometimes (quite often actually) it really feels like they have different safety offices for the imported and the domestically produced rides..

The S&S launch coasters comes to mind!

Oh yeah, big big part. Also they can just choose to not let you pass because they are the boss. Polar Explorer came to mind, the ride was perfectly fine and passed all the safety inspections but they just don't let it open because they think 26 cars is a lot.
