coasterbill Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Mean Streak at CP had me out for a few seconds... Did you fall asleep during the mid course?
bonsaiisuperstar Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 i-305. In 50 rides, I greyed out every time and three times REALLY greyed out so much that i missed the first third of the ride. It was awesome . Hands down my most favorite coaster in the world. I have slightly greyed out in the double loop on KI's Vortex in seat 5 also as a previous poster claimed. But nothing like the grey outs on i-305.
3Mutts Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Millennium Force at Cedar Point: On the first high-banked turn I305 at Kings Dominion: first turn after the first drop Nitro at SFGADV: In the helix
SingleRiderCam Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 -Titan @ SFOT on both helixes. -Batman: The Ride on the first loop. -Viper @ SFMM (slightly) on the double loop. -Xcelerator @ KBF (slightly) on the overbanked turns.
TroyWD98 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 The worst gray out by far was when it was about 100 degrees at Cedar Point, we were pretty dehydrated but wanted to do one more ride on Millennium Force before heading back to the hotel for a nap. We decided to take the front row and honestly, after the first drop I was literally grayed out the entire ride. The only times I could see properly were when going over the two bigger hills and then right when it gained its speed back again, I'd gray out. (For the record, I'd only grayed out on the first drop on MF on all the other times I'd ridden it) My friend and I got grayed out on multiple rides that morning but that one was by far the worst. The funniest thing was when we rode Woodstock Express and afterward, he said he grayed out on that...! That's when you know it's bad!
PVA62 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I have never greyed out. So dumb question...What is it/what is it like?
Angle O. Descent Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I have never greyed out. So dumb question...What is it/what is it like? Basically, you get dizzy to the point where you begin to lose your eyesight, yet you remain mostly conscious. When you completely lose consciousness, it's called a blackout.

rcjp Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 I have never greyed out. So dumb question...What is it/what is it like? On both of the times I had a greyout all I felt was that my sight got black and white and it lost some "definition". It only lasted for 3-4 seconds, though.
booink Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Any Batman clone, Millenium Force, Nitro in the helix. There may be others, but I don't remember them.
Dr. M Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I don't know if it's been posted here already, but I wanted to personally testify that the trick of looking in the direction of where you're turning (so you're looking "up" basically) really works to prevent greyouts. Last time at SFGA, of my three rides on Nitro, on two I remembered to look during the death helix and I didn't greyout in the slightest, one I didn't remember and greyed out slightly.
rcdude Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I've never really greyed out on a ride, but I have noticed the effects of it beginning on a few: -Batman clones -Goliath (SFMM) -Intimidator 305 -Nitro -Tatsu
mightypotato Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 The only grey out I've had was on I305. I was not expecting the first turn to be as intense as it was and it caught me by surprise. I was actually surprised I didn't grey out on Titan's bonus helix. That was also extremely intense.
vuurvogel Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I305 and Typhoon (Bobbejaanland), but that last one may have been because of a hot day and not enough fluids consumed
Ryan P. Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 So far i have not greyed out on a coaster. Kinda glad it has not happened, but wouldn't mind feeling it at least once just to say i have.
kayoss Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Anyone know if they ever run Goliath at SFMM without the trim brakes before the helix anymore? Ever since the trim brakes were added there no greyouts for me (and by far the best part of the ride).

CpBluestreakCp Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Millennium Force made me grey out between the first drop and over the first overbank.
coasterschile Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 It really wasn't a full greyout, but It was sort of. It was on Raptor (Vekoma SLC) And I was very surprised
Double0Kevin Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I305 for sure. I experienced it on Goliath back in 2000 before the block brakes were cranked up so much. I think that's about it.
Gnome Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Goliath, batman and xcelerator have all done it for me
