KBrylczyk Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 ^ Those were more or less kneejerk reactions from Cedar Fair since they lost the licensing names Paramount had. They had bigger fish to fry with that merger than renaming the rides. Although, to be fair, Millenium Force isn't saying much, haha.

It is pretty nice for the new millennium but I don't think it has "force"
gerstlaueringvar Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Mantis...What the heck is the relationship between a stand up coaster and a mantis? Couldn't they find a better name than Banshee? Superman: Krypton Coaster, just because it is located near a cliff doesn't mean you can actually find Krypton from it.
yay101 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 It's funny how utterly subjective this is, just as an example I think Cheetah Hunt is a great name for a ride. Memorable, and totally appropriate for the ride. Cheetahs are known for their acceleration, and it is a launch coaster, plus all the fast turns low to the ground, not unlike a cheetah chasing prey through the wilderness. Personally when I think Cheetah Hunt, I think of someone hunting a cheetah. I don't think that's what BGT had in mind, but that's what I think, and it's annoyed me ever since it was announced. But my least favorite ride name has to go to... DIZZY LOVE AND WHIRLING PASSION yup...
coasterbill Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Great Adventure names their Scrambler Deja Vu for some reason...
GwaziBSRider1 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 ^^ Maybe Six Flags America should have renamed Ragin' Cajun to be Dizzy Love and Whirling Passion. It would fit great into Mardi Gras, right?

simaticable Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 The worst ride names have to go to China and their generic coaster names.

DarienLaker Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Tony Hawk's Big Spin. It's really a dumb name. Well, its replacement name "Pandemonium" is highly overused since Six Flags lost the right to use Tony Hawk and had to rename the Tony Hawk's Big Spin coaster to "Pandemonium". I mean the "Pandemonium" name doesn't fit in with the skateboard cars and red and black color scheme!

The cars don't even look like skateboards anyways.
Vtafro Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Great Adventure names their Scrambler Deja Vu for some reason... I thought this was because they brought in another scrambler. Happy to see a flight deck get changed. Would go with any coaster called "roller coaster" being the worst.
3Mutts Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 ^ It is also due to the theming on it (the old Great Adventure Logos hence making you see the same thing again and again [deja vu])
larrygator Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 ^ It is also due to the theming on it (the old Great Adventure Logos hence making you see the same thing again and again [deja vu]) Yes, it makes sense to the insider if you look at it holistically as Great Adventure brought back a ride that had not been seen in the park in years. Kingda Ka also does make much sense, but the ride was named after one of the lion cubs born on site.

Pyrozooka0 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Thanks to the random coaster feature of RCDB: Leap Frog Railway/High Frolics (these 2 are the same ride) Three-Way Figure Eight Roller Toboggan Gee Whizz Dip the Dips Brownie Coaster Dark Ride (it isn't even a dark ride, it's a roller coaster) Cool & Fresh (KO Eurofighter) Oki Doki Clouds of Fairyland Outer Space Flying Car Soopa Loopa Spinning Batman Jungle Flying Squirrel Go! cal1br3tto Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 ^Nooooo! I adore the early coaster names like the first three or so on your list. They're just so awkwardly naive and charming. Pretty sure I posted both High Frolics and Three-Way Figure Eight Roller Toboggan in the best names thread!
yay101 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Some random RCDB coasters... Train Glide on Air - Bao Son Paradise Park Superspeed Cool-Cool Bear - Beijing Amusement Park Air Grover - Busch Gardens Tampa Rudolph 2 Loop Coaster - Seoul Land And Dragon Wagon...if you think about it...Dragon Wagon...
DarienLaker Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Here are my top 10 bad ride names out of all of the ones that I have mentioned 10. Pandemonium 9. Nightmare at Phatom Cave/Crackle Axe Canyon 8. (insert intellectual property here): The Ride 7. Iron/Steel (insert some fierce creature here) 6. Speed: The Ride 5. Smiler 4. Ghoster Coaster 3. Disaster Transport 2. Crazy/Wild (inert some animal here) 1. Big Spin (without Tony Hawk!)
yay101 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 ^Come to think about it, Speed: the Ride sounds very generic, and Smiler sounds really weird. But may I ask, WHY IS DISASTER TRANSPORT'S NAME UP THERE?

yay101 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 ^ Iron Wolf is also a fabulous name! Although the coaster itself...
