cal1br3tto Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Seems like an awesome little ride. I feel like we didn't hear that much about it this past season (might just be me), so hopefully this year will put it back in the spotlight.
Nrthwnd Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Loved the Hair Time on a guy, for a change, LOL.
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Nice pictures! Looks like Twister has some amazing airtime judging from riders' facial expression and hair time.
azza29 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Twister looks like Wooden Warrior's bigger brother, which was a brilliant ride. Looking forward to riding it later this year!
Mrlittle Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Its amazing how many times I've seen people confuse this Twister with the one at Knoebels. Twister at Grona Lund looks like a lot of fun and love how it interacts with the other rides.
TPDave Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 The twister pics are amazing!! I'm so annoyed I haven't ridden it yet! Boomerang - not so much!
Mr Stratosphere Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 The expression of the girl in the third row of the Boomerang pretty much sums up the experience!
azza29 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I haven't been on a Boomerang for six months now, so I'm starting to think I like them again...
cfc Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) I haven't been on a Boomerang for six months now, so I'm starting to think I like them again... That's the Boomerang-induced brain damage talking. Edited January 7, 2014 by cfc
Nrthwnd Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I've never been on a Boomerang... Consider yourself somewhat lucky. Depending on which one in the world, etc.
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Bomerang... Well, it's a Boomerang...Can't be too great but could be the worst ever Is this a smooth one?
beatle11 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Those damn boomerangs! Does it count as a credit if you just go up and touch the supports?
cfc Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I still have yet to ride this classic coaster. Maybe this year.
jynx242 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Oh - the Cyclone. Classic, scary as hell and brutal; but I loved every second Note to self: The back row is a very, very bad idea.
SuperShawn Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 ^ The back row was a great idea! Be in it to win it! Though one ride back there was certainly enough for life.
jynx242 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 ^ I remember saying, "my chiropractor LOVED that," after my back row ride in 2008. Then my crazy A$$ got back on and rode again (much nearer to the front that time.) Still an awesome ride and better than alot of the "clones" that followed.
eddie200330 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Didn't they just do a lot of work to this that was causing people to complain about how it lost all of its "brutalness and thrill"?
Philrad71 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I just watched Cyclone footage on 'Coasters in the Raw' last week and it was hilarious watching everyone's bodies severely jolt on the left uphill turn following the first drop. I felt sorry for those of you on the ride, but I admit that it was really funny listening to the yelps of pain on that one turn on every cycle. That just looked horribly rough! I hope to get to NYC this summer to ride it, but think that I might stay away as far away from the back as I can and try to nab the front. Can anyone tell me if they let you choose your seat, or is it by seat assignment only?
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Being a ride back to the 1920s, roughness is okay. But being a ride from 2005 and redone a lot in 2013, roughness is not okay.
azza29 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Have to love the way the train actually "bounces" at the bottom of each hill. Those cars might be padded to the max but the ride is still rough as hell!
beatle11 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 The padding didn't save my knee on the ride the first time. I wasn't really paying attention to it the first time so I didn't really have my knees up against that padding in the front of the car. My knee hurt for most of the Road to CP trip after that, but it was so worth it! Cyclone is still the holy grail of wooden coasters. Everyone should go ride it.
bbomser Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Being originally from NY, Coney Island was one of my first "Park Experiences" Not sure when I first rode the Cyclone, but I loved every minute of it. While yes it's getting old and beats riders up, it should still be a must for any Wooden Coaster Enthusiast. Sit in the front, sit in the back, just hold on tight and prepare to get hurt! Plus having the original Nathan's down the street makes it nice to recover from the ride with a nice lemonade and a good hot dog!
