cpfan101 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I hate the formulas the FAFSA website uses to estimate expected family contribution. I got accepted to the University of Central Florida, which is the school of my dreams, for business and the only way I can go there is if I get financial aid and scholarships due to the fact it is out of state and cost of attendance for out of state is roughly $26,000. However, my FAFSA report said my expected family contribution is going to be $72,000!! Now, granted, I don't know if this is per year or over 4 years. I'm really hoping its over 4 years because then that equals out to roughly $18,000 which is about the max my parents are willing to pay to send me there so I'll have to get the last $8,000 a year in scholarships/other forms of money. However, if it's $72,000 per year, then they have another thing coming because I know for a fact there is no way in hell that my family can do that much money per year, let alone the $26,000 per year cost of attendance. I'm actually curious, is there any family that can drop $72,000 a year on one kid's college expense and still have money left to feed the family? Also, I don't find out if I got any scholarships till like mid-March. This whole situation is really stressing me out. Also, I applied for a management position at work. They called me back Monday and I missed the call because of school. I call them back as soon as I got home. I leave messages, I talked to receptionists, and then it is now Thursday night and no contact. Today, I talked to a person who is like amazing at getting stuff done and I admire her and she told me that I shouild get called soon, so I'm hoping tomorrow will be the phone call that ends this ordeal. Blah, I'm really stressed. --David
ebl Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 "I hate people that think when they walk up the esclator, everyone else should step aside." (mcjaco) Those are the same ones who get on the freeway and want everyone else out of "their" way. Eric
socalMAN123 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Middle school dances are lame. Period. Case closed. ---Brent
terrancew_hod Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 People who block the side of the escalator that people walk up, they deserve a punch in the head. I hate that too, especially when they have the signs posted at the airport for standers to move to the right. And there they are blocking the whole escalator or people mover lane. Those are the same people that cause traffic congestion and rubberneck on the highway. Keep the traffic moving and get the hell out of the way. Me (to person blocking path): "Move to the right." Dumb person: "Oh I'm sorry." Me: "Idiot" Terry "I'll embarrass folks on the paths. I got somewhere to go." Weaver

Weaver Honestly, you expect people to do this on every walkalator or escalator just because of some signage at an airport? I'm entitled to stand on any part of the stair. Who really needs to get up or down an escalator any faster than anyone else when you're at a mall? Oh yes, people with a great sense of self importance.
BeemerBoy Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Yeah, I usually purposely stand directly in the middle of any escalator, moving only when a polite "excuse me" is uttered. Also, there's times at an airport where if I see someone coming who's obviously in a hurry to catch a flight, I'll move aside. Other than that, I'm standing where I want to stand. Moving sidewalks at airports, and particularly Universal Orlando, are the things that irritate me more. Anyone who's not using a cane or walker should not be standing still on one of these. It completely defeats the purpose. Just keep walking, people. Are you really that freakin' lazy? Just my .02.

I'm entitled to stand on any part of the stair. Who really needs to get up or down an escalator any faster than anyone else when you're at a mall? Oh yes, people with a great sense of self importance. Actually I would think people don't think of others enough make sure there's a path so others can get by would actually be the problem. I'm sure there's people on lunch hour that may need to get something really quick or on a short schedule that would appreciate getting by me while I'm leisurely window shopping. I figured those were people with a great sense of self importance. My mistake. But I don't really care about escalators, but the peoplemovers are really the problem for me; especially after saying "excuse me" to the same person several times and they don't want to move. Then I get loud and it's pretty scary for them, because they tend to jump out of the way. Or even worse the whole family with several strollers walking slow and blocking the entire aisle at the mall. If multiple people are squeezing past you and pushing you out of the way, that's probably your hint to get over. Terry
arrowfanman Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 The only person in this thread with any unhealthy degree of presumed self-importance would be me, and I'm declaring that there's no need to escalate this argument over escalator etiquette any further. Violators will be shot. Thank you for understanding. Sincerely, Jahan Makanvand Person of Importance
haiderodes Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 It irriates me that some people on these boards take themselves so seriously that when someone posts something that may or may not be correct, that they jump down your throat. Its really a turn-off from posting. To have to sit and think about each word you type in hopes that it wont excite someone's ego. It gets rediculous, especially when its 15 year olds!
downunder Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I hate crappy covers of already crappy songs
Wes Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Excruciating and exhausting two days at work. I just want to curl up in a ball and die after today.
downunder Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Employers who like Lumberg in Office Space are happy to let you come in on Saturday, it's pretty easy to pick them at the interview and go elsewhere. Surprised so many people feel so passionately about escalator ettiquite, I think they should appoint a UN Special Commissioner regarding this issue.
AllenA07 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I hate my legal practice class, law school wouldn't actually be that bad without it.
cpfan101 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 My dad always tells me to lock my car, lock my car. And I do. However, my dad has a company issued Blackberry which he hates with a passion and leaves it in the car everywhere we go. It always sits in the cupholders. Also, my dad for some reason does not lock his car whenever we are out which is aasking for it to get stolen. So finally, someone took the blackberry and I don't feel bad for my dad at all. He leaves it in the car with the doors unlocked when we are at resturants etc. --David
Angry_Gumball Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Curse being sick! I was sick 2 weeks ago and I have a feeling that it's coming right back at me again to greet me. Basically it consisted of massive beyond vekoma level headache, achy body, uber tired/exhausted, and an annoying tickle cough. Anyone else dealing with this? And they need to legalize ferrets in CA instead of discriminating against these fuzzies!
downunder Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 People who cite an exception like it's the rule.
ebl Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 This site has been running really slow for me all day. Other sites I've been to are fine, but TPR is quite slow. Eric
mike541x Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I come home from school today and find my computer reseted like it was new. All of my pictures/itunes library and everything deleted. I went to my friend's show and got good video of them and half the show was deleted from my computer.
CommanderLock Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I got this headset for $50 (with Gift Cards), and then later checked the price of the same headset on Newegg.com, and it cost $17! My mom told me not to tell my dad because he really likes Best Buy. I'll tell him anyway. It costs much more at Best Buy because other costs are figured into the price, such as storage, showroom floor space, etc. Newegg (one of my favorite online stores BTW) is basically a big warehouse and they can pass on the savings to you (without sales tax). You're just paying for the convenience of going to the store and getting it; if you can wait then I'd order it online. I went over to Compusa's "going out of business" sale and it wasn't much of one. The case i wanted to get was $200, marked down from $250... Newegg had it for $160 with an additional $60 rebate, so I'll end up paying about $100 for it. Terry Meh, I really had no choice. My mom was like "If you don't get one now you're not getting a headset", so I was forced to get that one. I could've gotten the nicer Razer Piranha, which costs $65-80 wherever I look...but my mom didn't let me get something that expensive with gift cards. Its not like you can use gift cards for taxes!
Cyber.Fiber Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 This Is Bad News Bears!I have to get up really early tomorrow for school and I just want to go to bed! I Have been sitting here since 1:00 a.m. waiting for my assignment on "Identifying Substances Using Properties" (which was due on tuesday but my teacher loves me because I was the only student who showed up on the snow day second day into the new semester nerd) to print, but of course the printer was off all day and there are about 4, 15 page documents to print before mine can! La La La! Time Check: 1:13 a.m. This is fun.... sweet, still on the second document. Okay still going... Time Check: 1:24 a.m. Oh Mine Has Started! Time Check: 1:25 a.m. This semester is hard: Academic Science, Academic English, And Art, all which have an incredibly heavy work load. Which sucks because I was expecting it to be a breeze which it is not, so I am a few day behind, and am trying to catch up... FAST! It is done! Yay! Finish Time:1:30 a.m. Elaspsed time: 30 minutes. I wish the printer was only about a good 25 minutes faster...
