Ocean Kingdom in China

^^ and ^^^ Exactly.

A B&M Wing rider is supposed to create a smooth, flying experience with graceful inversions and comfortable transitions. It isn't designed to kick your butt every time you ride it. Plus, with those wide, heavy trains, how the heck would you be able to create snappy corkscrews, extra-tight turns, quick zero-g rolls, etc.?

Furius Baco? No tight turns, tight inversions etc but really intense.

But I thought that the intensity (plus the fact that the "wings" look like basically seats riding on top of tree branches) was the whole reason why Furius Baco was so rough.

You're right to say the trains are pretty ridiculous and I bet they don't help at all. However, while you could argue that it is the speed + the G forces the ride provides that can lead to some roughness, those are not the only causes (assuming they do have an influence) as during moments like the heartline twist, which may not be slow but it's not stupidly fast and provides no more than 1 G (no matter the direction), it is still pretty rough. So I do think the trains are the main reason why it is so rough and that's why I bet B&M could do something with similar intensity and smooth at the same time.

The theming at this park looks incredible. I love the shark rising up from one of the buildings. I'm just wondering what the close up quality of it is like as from a distance it looks great and from close up they can look very poor.

I love the green of the Wing Coaster and the Mack track around those rocks is interesting too.

I swear that if the tip of that mountain was curled a bit, we'd be in WhoVille, LOL!

Great update on how it's all going!

And the Whale-Shark-What-Ever-Blue Thing looks awesome!

Do I see something green-ish on the edg-ish

of The Mountain? ( I am no good at chatting Seuss.)

This themeing is so amazing! Disney level, even! Hope the park can maintain it since people have said it's being built by the only Chinese park that knows how to run itself.

The biggest thing about these Chinese parks is that labor and resources are cheap enough to make the giant buildings and thematic buildings, yet they are never designed well. Sure there is a mountain range, but there is no means to address sight lines or any attempts to really "transport" you to a different time and place.

I do think thats a problem with all these "theme parks" across china is that they are trying to imitate a Disney Park rather than Disney who tries to imitate a real location, culture, etc.

I bet those people getting the walk through are wearing the masks cause of the terrible air quality and not cause its a construction site/

Ocean Kingdom is in Southern China, air quality is not a problem there.

Totally agree! but hopefully Chimelong can be an exception since they haven't built a real theme park yet. Chimelong Paradise is more like Magic Springs while Ocean Kingdom is more like a Sea World park. Not to mention that Chimelong owns one of the best zoos in the world next to Chimelong Paradise and they put a lot of effort on animal protection just like Sea World. I think they can do well in this park and won't let it be like those crappy Happy Valley parks.

  • 3 weeks later...

I love the theme and the colors however the layout just screams boring for me... at least the first few elements.

I have been on Gate Keeper and Wild Eagle and they are both fun but pretty boring overall.

I wish the ride would be a little smaller but more tight turns and twist and lower to the ground. So you will really get the sense of speed.

Looks like a fun ride. Depending on which side you're on, looks like you can get some good hangtime on some of those inversions. The theming of this park is awesome, that view from the first drop was great. If you can zone out those sweet beats you'll realize this thing crawls through the course, as expected.

Yeah, pretty much what I expected. By the way, why is it that B&M still continue to use mainly friction brakes rather than magnetic ones? It looks like they are one of the few major companies that doesn't use either only magnetic brakes (like intamin) or mainly those ones and some secondary friction brakes. Just saying

It's a roller coaster that does exactly what its name describes - it flies over the rainforest. This looks like a coaster built purely to give riders the sensation of soaring over everything.
