jedimaster1227 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 ^Only after Freestyle Music Park reopens as Monstars of Rock Park.
beatle11 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I'm sure they won't abandon the entire idea completely. They will probably look for another location for this park in the central Florida area first. Maybe Kissimmee. Â But here's a thought. What if they built near the new Legoland? While Legoland is aimed more for kids, the thrill park could give the more thrill seeking type something as well. What if they were to work out some combo deal with Legoland? The family could visit Legoland together during the day, and then in the evenings, the thrill seekers could visit the thrill park. Maybe if they offered some child care service as part of this deal, so the parents could just drop them off and enjoy the park, I think that might work. Â That being said, I still stand by what I said in October. Â ...Vegas actually seems like the type of location they would thrive in.
Guy T. Koepp Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I am shocked, befuddled & flabbergasted by this news. I never saw it coming to this. A part of my belief in faeries just died.
disneyfan1313 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 ^^ They won't build near Legoland because even THEY realize that it is too far away from everything else..
cfc Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 They were scared off by the powerhouse that is Magical Midway.
ernierocker Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) Â But here's a thought. What if they built near the new Legoland? Â Why would they choose Winter Haven when there are so many prime locations around Orlando for their next few proposals to be rejected with. Edited June 27, 2011 by ernierocker

sheikramatic2006 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I am sad that this idea is not coming to life. I hope they will rebuild somewhere else!
Andrewoplis Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 What ever happened to that crazy Festival Tennessee idea? Maybe the people behind that and Baker and team up to build Festival Thrill Park!
skitt2010 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 If honest, i dont think they require another theme park over there... too much to do as it is. Im taking a 3-week holiday in september (see signature) and even 3 weeks isnt enough time to do everything i want to. Â
televisedconfession Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I am sad that this idea is not coming to life. I hope they will rebuild somewhere else! Â The way I see it, the majority of the rides proposed were clones anyway. Basically, we're not losing much here.
cfc Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 ^I think the last thing we need is another failed park that runs for a season or two, then just becomes a home for feral cats or racoons.
Across_the_Universe Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 ^I agree. Not that anybody knows with 100% certainty that this would've failed it it had opened, but most of us can concur that it had higher chances of failing than succeeding. If it did fail, who knows what would happen to the coasters that were left there? I guess left to sit there like Hard Rock Park's. Oh, well. Not loosing too much with this park anyway.
BeemerBoy Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I am sad that this idea is not coming to life. I hope they will rebuild somewhere else! In order for them to "rebuild" it, doesn't it need to actually be built first?
pianojohn Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Don't worry! Â Kat from http://www.savethebigdipper.org/ will be taking over the planning for this park during her summer break from college! Â Now if she can just figure out how to run a website....hmmm....
gisco Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Well at least they can use not being able to build the park at the original location as an excuse when and if they build the park somewhere else and it fails!
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 This comes as no suprise to me, but I still hate to hear about a big park like that was turned down because of 10 decibals of noise and some neighbors who like to complain. A NASCAR track was supposed to come to my home county back in Washington... but neighbors concerned about increased traffic and noise for a week shot it down. Â I do agree that this is more like a 'Vegas-style' attraction, and I'm sure that more will come from this project.
mandy_Reeves Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I would pay good money to see a theme park of feral cats and racoons! they could also just let it rust and go for an abandoned theme park/ steam punk themed place
Hockeyman55 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 This was posted on CFNews.com this morning. Still holding on by a thread. I hope they find a way to get this built but im not holding my breath. Â Monday, October 31, 2011 8:00 AMÂ ORLANDO -- Monday the city council will once again take up the "Orlando Thrill Park" proposal. Â The park, which is planned for Orlando's Tangelo Park area, was voted down by the council in April because that area off of International Drive is currently zoned for residential use only. Â Earlier in October, the city reached a new zoning agreement that would allow the park in the Tangelo Park area. Â The council is expected to pass that agreement during a first reading Monday. A second reading and public hearing is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 14.
AndrewRnR Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 ^Interesting. I thought the project was all but dead. I was already going to be on a project day from work for IAAPA on the 14th so maybe I'll swing by the meeting if its in the morning. Â I stumbled across this page on the city's website about the proposal (with findings from different studies along with the master plan): http://www.cityoforlando.net/planning/cityplanning/Orlandothrillpark.htm
Hockeyman55 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 ^Awesome find. Would be cool if you were able to checkout that meeting. Show some them park support
Hilltopper39 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I hope that this park gets developed in some shape or form because I still think that if done right it could possibly succeed.
