Alton Towers Discussion Thread

p. 235: Nemesis Reborn announced for Spring 2024!

Recommended Posts

I'll be interested in hearing the reviews for this once it opens.

I see the future, so I'll help you out on this one. In no specific order:

- "It's the best rolly coaster on earth!!1!"

- "It sucks."

- "It's not bad, but I think Alton Towers overhyped it."

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Here's another possible one -

"Why did Six Flags Magic Mountain build YOLOcoaster instead of something like this?"

I`m afraid it will be to nauxious for the average person. They will have enough with one ride and keep it for what it is, something cool to look at.

With collossus you still have an overview of the ride layout. But this ride is one big spaghetti of elements going sideways, upside down. Hard to visualize the layout for a regular being. I think a lot of people will be puking, I hope they prepare something for that so the ride doesn`t have to stop every time.

Never tought I would say this as a roller coaster enthousiast... but maybe the ride is a bit to long. Which perfectly compensates with Oblivion then

If anything Alton Towers have under-hyped this ride, with Th13teen they went overboard with hyping it up to be some sort of thrill machine, and we know how that turned out. With this ride there doesn't seem to be that much in the way of hyping it up yet, although that possibly could be because they still don't know when it will actually open and want to leave the hype until they can advertise a specific date. Or could just be because they have learnt their lesson from Th13teen, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say it is the latter.

^ Psst....it was a joke, not an actual critique. You know I can't actually see into the future right? Well, except that Alton starts manufacturing taller trees to combat the building codes. Sssshh, keep it on the down low though.

Anyway, back on topic. The track is very twisty, and there's gonna be a washing machine or something, which reminds me I need to wash the whites when I get home.

^ I don't expect any type of trick track on this ride. We've been able to see inside the trench for sometime and I can't see room for any. I expect them to soon start on the lift. I really feel we have something gimmick as world first like: "World first double dueling coaster" or something like that.

^ I don't expect it to happen. It was actually always a enthusiast hype with the rumor of the most inversion. Because the plans said 8 loops people started to invent a element that could make it happen, thus the Washing Machine got a existence. It fell of the card after the news of the added inversions giving it 14 inversions thus a record. It's not completely ruled out that we don't get a trick track, I personally don't see it happen.

You feel that way? I always noticed that the GP love lots of inversions. Maybe its only like that at the parks i visit regularly. And i think it needs to be long to endure all those iversions.

Looks fun and twisty! I keep thinking that when the reveal the "World's First" it is going to be a big let down.

Much like Thirteen's " worlds first? Perhaps AT will include a "Smile Specialist" upon exiting the ride vehicle to tickle you. this would insure you get the proper smiles from the experience.

Merlin really are ramping up their advertising here.

They are running a massive promotion through the Sun newspaper giving away... free tickets? There must be a catch, truth being told I was late for work so didn't look thoroughly into it.

Also, just noticing the actual photo here, not the OTSRs? Such conflicting messages, do we have a definate either scoop whether we will have lap bars or not?

Either way... B&M OSTRs? Really? Oh I do love the generic nature of coaster promo photos. When in doubt, use B&M restraints ha

So, went to the park today for John Lewis employees day and here's a small review.

Got to the park at 10:00 and queues appeared light. Info boards at the gates showed 0 minutes all round. Straight to spin all where there was a 40 minute wait. Thank god for the single rider line is all I can say! Walk on!

We then went to the rapids but with it being 1 degrees, it was our only water ride of the day. Duel, Nemesis and Air completed all of which were walk ons however Sub Terra and Ripsaw were not in action all day.

After a mammoth walk to The Dark Forest Rita had a huge queue due to poxy one train operation and surprise surprise Th13teen was also down all day! Food took priority over Rita and as it was freezing cold and raining all day We decided to skip her and catch pneumonia riding Nemesis over and over instead. Who wouldn't ?!?

A casual mince over to X Sector reveals that Oblivion is shit until the park opens.... This was painful news to me as Blivvy is my favourite ride on the park...... Gutted! To add salt to the wound, no further construction on SW7!

So, after a few more rides on Nemmie we called it a day. Bad weather, unfortunate start of season technical difficulties preventing some main rides from opening put a dampened on our day. Quite literally!

The car parks are full of Smiler track and supports that are ready to be transported over to the site but nothing of specific note, only thing worth mentioning is two pieces of curved track, like a bunny hop curve with pneumatic magnetic brake fins on..... That's it! Nothing that resembles either lift hills nor this 'secret element'..... You're guess is as good as mine!

Finally, Nemmis was running beautifully today, the rain made it thunder through the course and is as insane as ever!

Maybe like an inverted hold element is about what I can think of if the fins are retractable.

Or another thought that came into my mind, it could be the top of the lift.

Did it look similar to this? If it did, then that what it would be.

I'm going to go ahead and post my guess on this world's first business and predict that the trains will have physical effects built into them much like a 4D experience. The tickler will vibrate your seat, the inoculator will poke you somewhere in your seat, the flasher will set off lights in your eyes, the giggler will spray some kind of mist out at you and so on. All these effects incorporated into the trains and seats themselves would certainly be unique and cause all these psychological elements to be far more effective. It's the only way I see they can pull this off the way they are describing it in their interviews and articles. Clearly if that's the case we won't see or know anything of it until opening day which is just how the park wants it to go. That's my guess on all this. We shall see.

^So would you say it is a trim break of some sort? Sounds like one

It could very easily be a part of a brake run. Pitch axis angle changes in brake run sections are don all the time nowadays.

You can put brakes on any vertically-curved track if the brakes on the train point downward, which Gerstlauer's usually do.

I know which one you mean, saw it on some pictures I can't easily retrace. But if you ask me it looks like trimbrakes for the low speed hills between the double dive loop and the Batwing and between the Seaserpent and the Cobra. So the only parts where we can get airtime in the entire ride. It's kinda the only logical place for them. I still wonder though when they get the lift, On the pictures not much new track seems to arrive there.
