ColeLucas16 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Its official the park is removing Hyena Falls
Midgetman82 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Was this confirmed somewhere? Â I mean, while I hate to see a slide complex go, seeing the ProSlide Wave get taken out kinda shows a reason for them to not keep the rest of this (not to mention how out of place the complex is to the rest of the water park). Hopefully it finds a nice new home elsewhere if it is going (like at the campgrounds next door where two other slides went).
ColeLucas16 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 I noticed it wasn't on there website and I had commented on there facebook about it and they had replied back and said that they had no plans in operating it in 2020
ColeLucas16 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 I wonder how long it will be until HW puts in a new coaster. I know there was quite the gap between Voyage and Thunderbird, but I'm not sure if that is something one could really go off of with this incredibly unique park. I think there next one will come maybe in 2021/2022 I think it will be more of a family coaster than a big thrilling coaster definitly steel and maybe go in where PP/Giraffica used to be
coasterbill Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I noticed it wasn't on there website and I had commented on there facebook about it and they had replied back and said that they had no plans in operating it in 2020 Â I've found this exchange and can confirm it. In the future please let us know where you find your information right away just so people know it's accurate. We have a lot of people who show up spreading fake news stories which is why people are often skeptical, especially since you're brand new. Â PS: Welcome to TPR!
mikeykaise Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 If that's true, that's a shame because I never got a chance to ride those but not surprising since they're in a weird spot honestly.
WolfBobs Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I'm gonna go ahead and start the "it was removed for a mega-lite" rumor.
njcoasterguy34 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I will be making my first trip to Holiday World at the end of August. How do their Flyers compare to the ones at Knoebels? I'm going to assume they're not as good as the ones at Knoebels since I've yet to ride a set that are. I am hoping they're better than the ones at Dorney Park, though.
neilnky Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 This from screamscape: http://www.screamscape.com/html/holiday_world.htm I can sort of see why as those slides were pretty far off from the rest of the water park. I wonder what will become of this area? Don't you just love wondering and watching lol
ScreaminNewEngland Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Certainly not a surprise. They quietly removed their wave slide from the complex last off-season so this was kinda expected. Hopefully that side of the park stays strictly dry-park.
Canobie Coaster Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 The Hyena Falls slide complex was fine, but it just wasn't worth the walk over there. I agree that spot would be better served by the dry park.
HWLover Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 I’m glad it’s finally known that the Hyena Falls complex will be no more. I have a few friends that work in operations at Holiday World, and I was told by them (keep in mind, it could be false, just what they believe) that the half-pipe was removed on request from pro slides due to a recall or something like that. I am not entirely sure if that is factual but it would make sense. Furthermore, I was told that they were removing the complex (old news now) because it didn’t fit in with the vision and they have other plans for the site. Nothing to ground breaking just thought I would share what I had been told! I think that site could be used as part of the section of Thunderbird area with some flat rides, or combined with the old PP station for a larger attraction. I suppose they could also build a new kiddie section, or, what I’ve always wanted, a Christmas Eve section with actual thrill rides and family rides, designed with immersive theming.
JT325 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 New Holiday World podcasts are up. I know what I’m listening to on the way home.
RAWKIN_coaster38 Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 I will be making my first trip to Holiday World at the end of August. How do their Flyers compare to the ones at Knoebels? I'm going to assume they're not as good as the ones at Knoebels since I've yet to ride a set that are. I am hoping they're better than the ones at Dorney Park, though. I can't speak for the flyers at Dorney, but I can for sure say the HW flyers are nothing compared to the Knoebels flyers. Flyers are my favorite flat so I ride them at almost every park I go to and I have yet to ride any that get even remotely close to the awesomeness that is Knoebels flyers. That being said, I did think they were better than most I've ridden and we did get some decent snapping on them.
Canobie Coaster Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 The only flyers I've ridden that can match the ones at Knoebels are the ones at Lagoon. Â The ones at Holiday World are a step above the Larson ones, but they don't come close to the Knoebels ones.
ytterbiumanalyst Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 New Holiday World podcasts are up. I know what I’m listening to on the way home. I listened to all three on Monday. I like the new format. It's familiar, but not too familiar, but not too not familiar. Just as a podcast should be.
JT325 Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Heya Holiday World... I know you guys are perpetually busy, but how about opening up a satellite park in Monticello, Indiana? It's a short hike, but just think of the possibilities. The industry needs more HW/Koch love. Big time. Â "Dreaming is free." Maybe Indiana Beach will make 100.
VF15 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Holiday World has posted on their website that they are currently planning to open in early June. Holiwood Nights will be rescheduled to a later date. https://www.holidayworld.com/covid-19/
ZeroGravity55 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 Interesting tid-bit from the FAQ. Voyages trains are still at PTC for maintenance and PTC had to shutdown, so they’re probably going to borrow a train from Raven and Legend to start the season on Voyage.
JT325 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 On a brighter note, the Holiday World podcasts have been great... slightly new and shorter format. Everyone misses Paula, but Leah is doing a great job keeping everyone in check.
ColeLucas16 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Looks like they may be a delay on Cheeta Chase too they finished fiberglass but they can't continue to work on it cause everything shut down
coasterbill Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 They should use all of Raven's trains on Voyage and just keep Raven closed forever.
Canobie Coaster Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Holiday World sent out a survey to those who bought HoliWood Nights tickets in advance. It seems like they're targeting August 14-15 or August 21-22 as a backup date.
Hilltopper39 Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 They should use all of Raven's trains on Voyage and just keep Raven closed forever. Â How dare you..
