Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

P. 512: Holiday World acquires Santa's Cottages resort

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking about something based on the recent clues (about a week ago - mentioning the storms. I was thinking they could be like Verbolten's event building - could be located on the pit). I was thinking that the clues could be hinting towards the layout of the coaster, each day being a hint of a certain element. Here is what I mean:

Day 1 "At last the day is here. After years of planning, we depart for the New World." Dispatch from station.

Day 4 "We are told to remain below" underground tunnel perhaps?

Day 5 "My worries drift away with the gentle rocking of the ship." Some pre-launch/lift turns?

Day 8 "The liar must clean what the swabber will not, the beakhead and chains." A reference to a chain lift?

Day 11"The children look to the skies and imagine what secrets exist within the massive clouds." High height, or nearing the top of the lift?

Day 15 "We count one hundred plus two passengers on board." Could this be the height?

Day 16 "And now we are one hundred and three" Drop length?

Day 21 "The spray on deck feels colder now than at the start of our journey." Water effects? Maybe the old Pilgrim's area will be used?

Day 22"As the ship shifts unexpectedly, there are times we can no longer stay upright." Inversions, anyone?

Day 25"The skies are worrisome." Could this the coaster going into the pit? There could be a building like Verbolten, and

worrisome skies are usually dark - a building could be dark on the inside.

Day 26 "We have survived our first storm at sea." Storm effects, turns, inversions that happen in the building?

Day 28 "The air on deck is fresh" Out of the "event" building?

Day 34 "The wind has taken on a deeper chill and stronger force." Launch to reach top speed?

Day 35 "The ocean waves rock our ship." Could this mean back and forth "twisties"? (Cheetah Hunt & Lightning Run are examples)

Day 36 "Another storm." Back into the "event" building?

Anyways, I might be overthinking, but this could be something.

Nice analysis.

The more I think about it and especially after reading this, maybe there's a good chance it's going to be a Maverick clone. It fits all of the clues as analyzed above. HW is spending $13M+ and if they got back $3-5M in "store credit" with Intamin after returning PP/Giraffica, this could actually be a possibility. Maverick would be a perfect fit for the parks family style while still putting them right in the steel coaster big leagues. It could even reuse what's left of PP just like Maverick did with White Water Landing and Swan Boat pond.

These pieces are fitting pretty good if you ask me. I will be thrilled if this is the case.

Yes, TPR, those two were for you. Didn't start off targeting enthusiasts as "children," but if the shoe fits ...

Ohh I got a good chuckle out of this!

This isn't going to be any type of clone. This is definitely a ride designed for HW and HW only, as it should be.

I have this gut-wrenching feeling the coaster will be Zierer tower launch coaster. I know it could be because I'm a Lagoon fanboy but it makes sense to me. The height restriction is 46" which is fair for a thrill ride, and it could still have the event building with a freefall drop inside if they wanted. They can even make it high capacity if done right. With the analysis given, it would give multiple block breaks to add more trains. Just my two cents.

That would be perfect for this park! I really think that if they go for this, they would please a lot of enthusiasts. The only other think that I could think of that would also make sense is a Mack Rides launch coaster like Helix or Blue Fire. Any of those possibilities sound good, so I hope we are onto something!

Although you're putting a lot of stock into the 'clues', that's a pretty good analysis.

I was thinking similarly that it was a hint to the ride layout. The ride you described( if it is clues) sounds pretty awesome and would definitely fit in well with the park. I cant wait to find out on June 24, and see if the two matchup.

I think you are right about the water element and have figured from Day 1 PP's landing will be used in the expansion somehow. If I was a park manager and I took out a ride if I wasn't using the splash down portion in the future why would I leave the concrete channel, why not just take it out. If I wasn't planning on re-using it I would just take the concrete out and fill in with dirt and I'd still be able to maintain the surprise. I'm really starting to think it will like Aquatrax & Verbolten romancing either other and having a Vertrax baby
