Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

After reading the following rumor from Screamscape I'm just going to leave this here. Could this be "North America's First?"

"2018 - New Attraction - Rumor - (8/21/17) Six Flags Great Adventure has posted a couple teaser posters in the park hinting about what is to come in 2018. The posters aren't too far from the new Justice League ride and show off the logo of STAR. Labs from DC Comics along with a phone number you can call and hear a message. The posted also lists the names of the parents of DC hero Cyborg, Silas and Elinore Stone.

Not much is said in the message when you call other than talk about developments with gyroscopes, gravimeters and accelerometers"

I don't know how I feel about this...

I mean, I would LOVE to see it in the park, and I would gladly give it a go... But it just looks like it would be a maintenance nightmare...

Edit:

On second thought... I might pass on this one!! I'm afraid I'd blow chunks everywhere!!

Those Kiosks are great news. The less I have to interact with slow kiosk attendents the better!

And the kiosks can't get your order wrong and then give you attitude when you tell them it's wrong.

However, the person who prepares your order could still get it wrong. I've had it happen at Dunkin' Donuts when I send the order through the mobile app and they still get it wrong.

Still planning my trip to SFGr Adv Labor Day weekend. I know I have asked this but just a double-check... historically, you can in fact buy the next years (2018) pass and use it as much as you want at ANY SF park the previous year (2017), correct? Also, Do you know what time (8pm, 9pm, etc.) they stop processing passes at the park. We may get there a little late one of those nights and to save time in the morning, I wondered if I could process the pass the night before the main trip to save time in the morning, so I didn't want to waste the trip if this was a no-go.

Funny story...

At Carowinds we used the Kiosks and then pointed them out to some of our friends. The unhelpful worker behind the counter asked the other worker "what's a kiosk?", I thought to myself..."It's what will replace you VERY SOON!"

Their days may be numbered. Kiosks provide a cheap and more effective alternative to the slow, more than occasionally rude workers. Maybe with the money park's save on with this they can add some workers towards landscaping.

It'd be a smart marketing move on the part of Six Flags, the park is sure to get a lot of attention for being the first in North America to install one of these.

Agree about the Kiosks! We used them at Carowinds and they were awesome.

They have some at Valleyfair and they force everyone, cash or credit, to use them. I like them personally, but a couple complaints:

- If you have cash, you get a receipt and then have to go to a person, creating an extra step.

- Some transactions like bottle refills don't work on the consoles.

No, it could not be a "North America's First" as it was already announced that it was a "World's first"

Also, this is just Twister 2.0

Apparently the kiosks won't work with the season dining pass. Not sure why this is since you could use them at Cedar Fair. Hopefully they have the ability to add it at some point.

Word on the street is that the plan is to have a pilot program where they only accept credit for now, but will begin accepting dining passes later this year or early next season.

That's great news. Hopefully it turns out well and they keep adding them to other spots.

Okay so I just got back from an evening visit to the park and I must say that in the 20 years that I have been going to Great Adventure I have never had such a weird experience. The rides and wait times were all manageable as we got to ride whatever we wanted to but my God was the place a free for all.

I'm not sure if the solar eclipse was messing with everyone this week but the freaks were out. I tend to enjoy people watching and I have to say this was a day for the ages. You couldn't invent in your mind some of the people were seeing. I see the whole handing out a ticket on ride lines thing has passed since we witnessed line cutting numerous times today. Teenagers were just sitting on the handrails all over the stations without the employees saying anything as well.

The big kicker was around 9 pm when we decided to ride Nitro for the second time. There was a group of college aged guys smoking a joint on the queue line by the trees in the switchbacks, not an employee to be found. I'm not one to complain about things like that but come on, we have to draw a line somewhere. Maybe management is giving up since its towards the end of daily ops but boy, was it the twilight zone there today.

The B train on Nitro had a band aid on the zero car. Was this someones after use or did Nitro injure itself?

It was cool to see the fountains on Skull running for once.

I was there with JCoaster last night. Like he said, the place was wild. I've had crazy visits before, but the kids smoking weed in Nitro's queue really put yesterday over the top.

That being said, everything was running exceptionally, and operations weren't that bad.
