For me at least, if i was going to revive the lakefront area, i wouldnt want to put a 4d free spin there. I would want a wing coaster or a premier launcher. I think a wing coaster doing inversions right in front of the lake would offer some pretty incredible views. And having a premier launcher there would be even better.

^You do have a point, Gatekeeper was designed to open up views of the beach and was also designed with being photogenic in mind. Something along the lines of that design strategy would look pretty great along the lakefront.

Bad day to go to the park today. Ka and Toro closed.

Note that the Rapids and Log Flume are both down and it's currently 90 degrees.

Someone at the park just posted on FB that Nitro also just shut down.

(edit: this is not my photo. I am in the cozy air conditioned confines of my office. I should be there Sunday morning as long as Toro is running by then)

I hope Ka is back open tomorrow, I'll be there both days this weekend and he has no idea what he's in for

Can anyone confirm if it's just a temporary closure, or if it's more than just today?

Sometimes when I am at the park I ask myself "Why is Kingda Ka open?"

That right there is sig material!

Anyone else planning to be there for the National Coasater Day ERT on Sunday morning! I know it's only 30 minutes but it's El Toro so it's hard to pass up. I'll definitely be attending!

^ If all goes according to plan, me and me broski will be there bright and early. Meet up at the magic seat!

We're not going for the day, just for the ERT and maaaaaybe finally do the safari and bounce before the crowds (and heat) get ugly.

I will be there with a buddy of mine. Didn't know it was El Toro--that alone makes it 1000x worth it.

Edit: and boldikus--looks like I might finally meet you! I'll be at row 18 (or 17 if need be) asking as I can for ert, as well as throughouth the day.

So according to people over at GAH, it's the long rumoured hotel Great Adventure has wanted. I think it's bunk, because it makes no sense whatsoever to build a year-round hotel within a seasonal park.

I usually do El Toro once in the front then again in the back because it's totally a backseat ride.

For me, El Toro is totally an ANY seat ride.

(I happen to be a back seat rider typically, and love it on El Toro, but I also think the front on this ride is equally amazing -- especially the end sequence beginning with the ejector hill after the station cross-over and down into the fast-paced turns by former Rolling Thunder. That entire sequence in the front is almost too good to be true.)

The "leaked" image:

There's no way THAT is what the supposed new hotel would look like. It looks like a second-rate college dorm.

That is an interesting concept. The main debunk is in the logistics. If Six Flags wanted to build a hotel would they:

A: Put it in the vacant Safari area where they have pleanty of empty space, accessable roads, and can create a separate entrance to the park?

B: Squeeze it in the dead center of the park where they will have to jump through enviornmental hoops to build a road, have very little space, would not be able to build a gate.

A hotel in the middle of the park seems unlikely. Add in the fact that there could only be about 40-60 rooms total in that complex and it becomes very unlikely.

I understand that Six Flags doesn't always make logical choices, but this one should be a no brainer. If Gadv is heading towards a year round attraction, a hotel would have to have indoor activities. Think Great Wolf Lodge, etc. Something like that would require much more space than the lakefront has to offer.
