Six Flags Great Adventure (SFGAdv) Discussion Thread

It would be amazing if Great Adventure got a RMC like dollywood's new Lightning Rod. The ride looks like it will be lots of fun.

El Toro. I will say though after riding Wicked Cyclone this past week if Great Adventure got an RMC with a twister layout it would absolutely work. Wicked Cyclone was nothing like El Toro, a totally differen't ride experience.

I can't tell whether you are saying that an RMC El toro is a good idea, but i think that will totally ruin one of the best (or even the best) wooden roller coasters on the planet.

A lot of people say that sfgad cant get an RMC because they have a great woodie in Toro. Hes saying that they could work together because they provide a completely different type of ride.

No, he's saying it would be too similar to El Toro as both are intense airtime focused extreme wooden coasters.

However, an RMC with a twister layout (unlike Lightning Rod) might be a better fit for Great Adventure, and I agree to both points... a twister RMC would be amazing and El Toro is already perfect and shouldn't be touched (save for some retracking in the turnaround).

...and I see this response is now repetitive

The website has been updated with a little bit of info about the ERT event Sunday morning. I'll be visiting with a buddy (both of us season pass holders at SFA)... the event starts at 10am, how much before this should we plan to arrive? It says sign in begins at 9am, could the even actually be this busy? I'm hoping getting to the lot at 9:30 should be good.

Cut the layout in half and that's about what you'd get.

Which would essentially be Outlaw Run, so still a big win!

More like Goliath. Don't get me wrong, that would still be amazing and infinitely better than any of the other possibilities. In fact, I'd be perfectly satisfied with an exact clone of Goliath (that's probably like ten feet taller so they'd break the record again).

It would be amazing, but I can tell you that with Lightning Rod, Wildfire, Storm Chaser, and Roar all confirmed (or nearly), the chances of a 5th RMC getting built in 2016 are extremely slim. But maybe sometime in the future!?

Plus SFGAdv doesn't need an RMC. They are great coaster, but the general public doesn't view them much differently than a steel sit down with inversions. A wood version would make a great 1-2 punch with El Toro, but some boxers go through life fine with one great punch.

The park has always been great about not adding redundant coasters. Here's a partial list of what they are lacking coaster wise don't I think are realistic future additions.

Full circuit launch coaster that does something

Dive Machine

Wing Rider

4D coaster

And quite frankly the park has room to add 3 coasters over time without making major changes to the current ride line-up with the Lakefront, Old Country and Rolling Thunder/Baboon Areas

Well said. I think a launch coaster, from any coaster company would be the perfect fit for the park.

I always thought a launched coaster similar to batman and robin the chiller would be cool

In one of the recent surveys the park sent out, one of the proposed rides was something like this. Could be in the works for the near future.

I'm not sure... Six flags hasn't built an intamin since 2011...

I know they aren't coasters, but Lex Luthor and Zumanjaro would beg to differ. This is why I won't buy into the "SF does not work with Intamin anymore" argument.

Oh, good point, forgot anout those... But I'm not sure if they would have gone with anyone else to build on those towers... Plus, who else is making quality drop towers in the industry? I do t think Moser would touch it...

I'd bet the drop towers were primarily because the existing towers are both Intamin manufactured. Plus, Intamin is one of few fairly reliable drop tower manufacturers for super tall drop heights.

Is the possibility of an Intamin Blitz Coaster coming to our park high? I've been sing it pop up alot lately. I'd be so happy if we got one, because Maverick is one of my favorite coasters.

Extremely unlikely. And where have you seen this mentioned before?
