Coaster Hero
I had a blast even staying for a short time today. I got to the park at 9:40-ish, got my wristband and speedwalked over to El Toro. I got 1 ride in the very back, then got off to get back in the queue, and the line was only in the station so I got on after a 2 train wait. Sat in the second last car and got 2 rides without getting up, then I moved up 1 row for 4 total rides. It was a really fun event, and by the way I saw boldikus on 2 of my rides, first behind then in front of us. I wasn't 100% sure it was him but once I saw the photo he just posted I knew it. After that we ran over to Kingda Ka, which was having the usual Intamin fit so it didn't open for about 30 minutes. After that it was a station wait for the second row, and though it was much rougher than usual the launch we got was much faster than usual, and we flew over the crest. I actually blacked out right before the second airtime hill. Zumanjaro was right after that and it was a walk on. Awesome as usual. I walked over to Nitro and waited about 30 minutes for the back row of the C train, and though it has a bit of a rattle the airtime was much more intense than usual, that combined with my loose restraint made for me never being in my seat! I waited like an hour for Skyscreamer because I wanted to hit another flat before I left. All in all, great day at the park, with the ERT being the highlight. EDIT: I saw you too Password121 Edited August 17, 2015 by Coaster Hero

Coaster Hero
I was also wearing a blue shirt, but I'm not in boldikus' photo. The guy you were with, was he wearing an Iron Rattler Shirt? ^By the way I don't think SFA is *that* bad. It's certainly not it's brother up north, but it's a nice park. They just need a better lineup IMO
boldikus
Haha will do! You gotta make it back down to SFA (aka hell) sometime soon! Other than a few more local/regional visits my major trips for the year are done, I'm starting to plan for 2016 already, but we may actually do that one Sunday toward the end of the season, Sept/Oct. I am much more determined to get back to Hershey ASAP/before the end of the season, and I want to do Haunt @ Dorney this year, but I'd also like to head down to SFA for a half day and hit Wild One, ROS, and Jokers Jinx a bunch. We'll see what happens, I'm sure I'll post if we're going.
SuperShawn
El toro is just getting unreasonably rough in the wheel seats. During the turnaround it has some very serious jackhammering. Went for a few rides during the ert thing yesterday and kind of agree, since it was enough to make me have to be selective on rows. Other than those few spots on the turn around the ride otherwise is still incredible and kicks all kinds of ass! More importantly that new bar right by El Toro is ideal
AirMBTB
Every season I hope that it will be the year Six Flags tries to turn the park back around. Fact is that it will never be 2006 again. Hopeful for next season none the less. 2006? Really? That was the last time I was at the park. My experience was so bad, I vowed not to go back for at least 10 years; my three visits to the park before 2006 were also bad, but 2006 took the cake. It was like the worst qualities of Magic Mountain and Great America thrown into one... I have to admit, I miss Skull Mountain. Not a Toro fan though. My friends who call Great Adventure their home park insist it's better now?
woolandmammoth
Depending on the time of year, Great Adventure is my home park and has been since birth. I feel that 2006 was a high point for the park. Golden Kingdom and Plaza del Carnival were fresh. You could tell that the park was trying to clean up its image. Today chunks of the park are missing, there are ads on absolutely everything, theming of PDC and GK is fading, and we have a B&M stand-up. Its not a bad park at all. Infact, its one of the best. Perhaps 2006 was not exactly perfect, but it was promising. There was a lot of hype about growth and renovation until redzone took over. Now the crystal ball has been pretty fuzzy and disapointing. Ive had a season pass at Great Adventure since 1998. A lot of locals will be able to tell you the park has had tons of up and downs.

I probably saw you at some point though. I have to agree about SFA. Its my home park and it's definitely getting better/less easy to make fun of. One more really top tier coaster like an El Toro clone (or an RMC) could make that a good lineup, along with more two train ops and some trees. Boldikus, I'll probably make it to SFA one more time this season during/around Fright Fest at some point. Let me know if your plans work out, but yes definitely get to Hershey before SFA lol. I'd also like to note the line for El toro got better once the park opened. Nice seeing old friends and meeting boldikus at the ERT.
michaellynn4
I would've been there, too, but my sister flew in for the week from San Francisco, so I had familial obligations. I was right by the park, too. Oh well, maybe some other time.
Password121
Here are a few photos I took from Saturday. It was a really nice day and we got lots of rides in early on. As mentioned I went Sunday as well with a buddy (we're from out of town) and for the first time ever we went for the flash pass. Even using the regular level it was totally worth it, the park was fairly packed and we got 8x El Toro, 3x Ka, 7x Nitro, 6x Bizarro, 3x Skull Mountain (back row is way more fun than it should be), 3x Zumanjaro, and 1x of Namtab, Log Flume, Mine Train, Sky Screamer, Superman, Green Lantern, Twister, and Blackbeards over both days, about 16 hours total. (Yes it's a lot but we're both young and don't visit too often lol). Front row Kingda Ka--> amazing ride. Row 4... Not so much The fight against obesity, the walk to Zumanjaro. I never know which walk this is. At least we can see El Toro being awesome. By far my fav drop tower. The views are honestly amazing and the drop is pretty good. The brakes are the most intense part which is weird.

mpmbee
Had a great time at the park a couple of weeks back, many thanks to those who gave me advice. We got platinum flash passes as it was the first day of the trip and we were going to be knackered by mid afternoon. Going for platinum instead of gold was probably a bit indulgent but it was a first time one off trip so who cares really, these worked brilliantly and the longest line of the day ended up being the line for the Flashpass itself! Having the platinum really helped us pack the laps in on the coasters with the double laps perk but it did make me feel like a bit of an arsehole when we just stayed sat on the coaster in the station. Password121
^I actually think SFA would be an awesome park for a ground up RMC. With Discovery Kingdom getting Roar renovated and Wild One being a pretty good ride (and a terrible choice for RMC), I don't really think either are good candidates. boldikus
Nice seeing old friends and meeting boldikus at the ERT. ^ I am interested to see if how this Roar West iron horsing will affect SFA and Roar East down the line. Would SF/RMC use the opportunity to give Roar East a completely different layout? Or the exact same layout (doesnt seem likely knowing RMC)? Or will Six Flags continue to ignore SFA and not do anything to Roar including not giving Roar East SFDK's Millennium Flyer trains lol? If they even think of touching Wild One I will go down there and flip the entire park over.
woolandmammoth
Great America has started dropping hints and GADV is still pretty silent. Its funny that when they were announcing Bizzaro they had a full viral marketing shtick. In recent years, Im not sure they have teased any of their additions. Perhaps somebody who paid more attention to Zoomie's announcement can share if they teased it or not. Come on, Six Flags. Its the middle of speculation season. Throw us a bone here! Coaster Hero
I wasn't here during Zumanjaro's construction/speculation, but I did read through multiple pages of these forums yesterday out of boredom. The park was silent, but everybody knew what it was for the most part with certainty. This time we have a pretty good idea on what's coming, but the park isn't saying anything. I agree, I want some teasers!
JonnyRCT3
The "leaked" image: There's no way THAT is what the supposed new hotel would look like. It looks like a second-rate college dorm. I'm doubtful if that image has any credibility. BUT....this does seem like something Six Flags would do. Place 25-50 rooms in the center of the park everyone will notice it, and advertise it as "sleep inside the park." That will increase demand, and with the low number of rooms, the price would skyrocket well beyond a hotel of that stature. Six Flags dishes out the money for a 2 star hotel, and can charge a 5-star price.

michaellynn4
The only real teasers we've received in recent years were from last year with the picture hints the park tweeted out for (then) Looping Dragon, Batman Backwards, etc. Zumanjaro, the Safari, Adventure Alley, Green Lantern, all of these went without any hints/teasers from the park. I disagree. It doesn't at all seem like something Six Flags would do. If anything, it's exactly what Six Flags would NOT do. The amount of logistical changes and modifications that this investment would need to even work on a basic level is well out of what the park would be willing to spend. Nope. It's all a big nope sandwich with extra nope sauce. Edited August 17, 2015 by michaellynn4

larrygator
Even a coaster with lighter capacity is better is better than doing nothing. After riding Batman at SFFT today, I fully endorse adding one to SfGAdv. My typical day in the future would start with one ride on the 4D before heading over to El Toro. Capacity might be a concern, but people will leave it.
