glassjaw Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I believe he is talking about this picture. http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/images/drop02.jpg But that is just the rendering so they may and probably will not be there on the actual trains. The trains have modifications that werent shown on the rendering. They look exactly like Joe explained. The seats look deep like Dragster also. Joe must be an A-Lister.
DerekRx Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Well considering Joe is very much in the know with the person who created the rendering, chances are he actually saw pictures of the trains. Of course, that actual rendering above looks much like the other Intamin woodies from what I can see. I'd imagine the trains were changed to more of the Superman at SFNE type restraints because of that accident. If Joe says the restraints are changed, I'd put my money on what he says. You'll all see for yourselves in another 18 months when the coaster is finally finished. Go New Jersey Unions!
HCOSurfer90 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Ugh, I can't wait for this summer to roll around, I can't wait to rode this thing, and I can't believe they finally painted RAMT....can't wait for its new trains. Anyway, does anyone have pics of the new trains?
Billy Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 whatever they look like, i hope they do not have those head rest thingies like on dragster. im officialy psyched to ride. cant wait.
stew560 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 ^Awww Matt, now you're just holding out on us! If it is true that these will be G-Style Restraints, I fear for my legs on the twister section. I mean I think I still have the bruises from Legend at SRM 2001! Honestly it wouldn't be a surprise to NOT see the T-Bars, as Intamin has yet to build a new ride with them since the Accidents started.
rollermonkey Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 ^Maybe in the states, but Galaxy Express 999 opened last year with T-bars. Woodies don't need all the extra stuff if riders just behave. Heck, Anton Schwartzkopf proved years ago that even inverting coasters don't need anything more than a lap bar.
stew560 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 ^I'll be honest, I had never even heard of Galaxy Express 999 until your post! Good to know! As for riders "behaving"... If everyone in life would just behave, we wouldn't need laws either. The truth is that people are stupid, and do stupid things, and the parks neet to cover their for fear of being sued.
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 T-Bars would be nice. I like the S&S lap bars too.
DerekRx Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I like the S&S new restraints as found on Powder Keg. Don't know how heavy they'd make a wood coaster train though. I also don't mind the Giovanola restraints as found on Goliath SFMM and Titan SFOT. If Intamin went more like that I wouldn't be bothered too much. They hopefully won't be like the Gerstlauer trains as found on some CCIs, though with Intamin I don't think the twister section will be anything but smooth with nice transitions.

Will have plenty of pictures by the end of tommorow. Matt
alpengeist04 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Hopefully we'll get a picture or two of the trains in tonight's update.
WadeJ Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Well, all I will say is that most people will not like them. I think the ride will rock anyway but they are definately a little over the top in terms of being safe. Should we be surprised? This is NJ afterall. Pictures will come in this weekend once the park opens. Of course, they may have moved them or covered them.
alpengeist04 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I'm getting a bad vibe. It appears that these new trains will dictate whether I make a trip up to Great Adventure every year or once every 3 or 4 years. Anyway, here's hoping for the best when I ride El Toro this June.
stew560 Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 New Photos today, Opening Day! El Toro's first drop Really taking shape now Can't wait to see this in person tonight!
Jive Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Giggity, giggity, goo. I hope that this thing is open by June 5th. That drop is crazy looking.
alpengeist04 Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 ^GAcoaster took some really great pictures last night. You can see them at www.amusementpics.com
GAcoaster Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 I got a few more today as well. Here's a teaser:
MARK Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 Far out, http://www.amusementpics.com/SFGAdv%20Opening%20Day%2006/040106-020.jpg It just looks so awesome in that part of the park, with the huge Kingda Ka behind it and the lake beside it...
Rider117 Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I went on a construction tour of the site today and took a few pictures of the ride. Here is the link... http://gadvupdates.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=413
paulosthejackal Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 There is still so much to do huh? This ride will be one of the last to open in 2006 for sure. Looking great though, massive and impressive structure, this sure will be one powerfull ride!
rollermonkey Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 This one's all wood, huh. I bet those folks installing that woodie over in Indiana start getting more orders after this year based on how much faster they put up a woodie ALMOST the same size! The real test will be once we start getting ride comparisons.
