ahecht Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 It's all the whiny "inTRIMidator" haters voting up the other rides.
robbalvey Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 ^ Exactly - so go cast another vote for I305: http://themeparks.about.com/b/2011/02/11/readers-choice-awards-roller-coaster.htm
braztaz Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I said this before, but it's just that these polls really don't actually represent any meaningful result, considering less than 1% of the people voting have actually constructed legitimate opinions on each ride after riding them, or even just hearing about them. Most of the votes for i232 are from Carowinds fanboys who haven't heard of any park other than their beloved, but also with the same as i305. 75% of the voters would have never guessed that Formula Rossa was the fastest roller coaster in the world....
robbalvey Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 ^ Exactly - so go cast another vote for I305: http://themeparks.about.com/b/2011/02/11/readers-choice-awards-roller-coaster.htm  Seriously, though, when it just becomes a "popularity race" meaning - which park can convince random people to vote for them, it's at that point you just need to have fun with it. So that's why we ask all TPR members to go vote for Intimidator 305, and vote every day!
redfoot12 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 fat Intamin Haters  Actually, I'd have to disagree with the "fat" part of this. I was able to ride I305 without issue all last year but got denied a ride on Apollo's. That said, fat coaster enthusiasts shouldn't complain about not being able to fit on a ride. You made the decision to eat a diet consisting of the McGangBang, not Intamin.  I do agree with the "Intamin haters" though. I've seen lots of Intamin hate bias because they're not as "reliable" or what not.
Skycoastin Steve Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 So in a post on KD Fan Site, it looks as if the trims were moved back to their original location on the 3rd hill. No complaint from me on that one, at least we have the original first drop back to normal. My only question is: did the trims get moved back there automatically, or have they already tested it again? Seems like someone would have gotten a glimpse if they were testing it (unless it was testing at night). That was perhaps my favorite part of the ride, the speed, forces, and crazy direction changes.
Skycoastin Steve Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 ^You guys are going to get a full report from me one month from now, so the clock is ticking!
Ace Of Spades Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 We're lagging behind by 2%! C'mon TPR, keep voting strong!
kennywood_racer Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I must be the only one voting Sky Rocket  But back on I305. Just wait....The trims WILL BE BACK, because of someone in the office in Sandusky can't have a ride faster than that big blue one out their window.  I305's new speed will be 92.9 MPH. Just wait.

Soon we'll all know when it reopens for the season.
Reon Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Havent posted on this for a while... Â Its good that they're taking the trims off now, but I'm gonna miss the blackout G's. Its part of what made this my new #1 steel, but the ride itself is still insane enough to give it that edge. I'll have to make another trip down Southeast this summer to try it again.
coastermaniac Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I live in Northern Ohio and I'm trying to convince my family to go to King's Dominion this summer. Is it worth driving down to Virginia for a few days?
willh51 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I live in Northern Ohio and I'm trying to convince my family to go to King's Dominion this summer. Is it worth driving down to Virginia for a few days? Â Definitely! Go to Kings Dominion and be sure to stop/stay by Busch Gardens. That would make a great weekend. There's also a ton of stuff to do in historic Williamsburg other than the amusement park and water park.
coasterfreak101 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Nothing says that the blackout G's won't be there - they'll be less, for sure, but I'm sure they'll still be strong and even more prolonged! Â I think we all figured they'd go back on the third hill, if only for that last twisty before the brakes. It's my favorite one with the new straps, but it's VERY borderline when it comes to comfort, and I wouldn't blame anyone for not liking it. Â I'm just pumped for that first half full-speed again! Hopefully this trim configuration stays in place!

coasterbill Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Kings Dominion isn't far from Washington DC either if you want to take a day trip there. It's probably only an hour and a half to 11 hours depending on DC traffic. Luckily if the whole family is with you you can use the HOV Lanes on I-95 which are an absolute gift from god. Â Anyway... I voted for I305 because Carowinds is spamming Facebook with this poll and pissing me off. KD probably is too but I don't "like" them on FB so I don't care.
coastermaniac Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 ^^ Well I don't know, maybe we'll visit Washington D.C.
Saldek Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 How far from King's Dominion is Busch Gardens? Â 70 miles so about an hour drive, depending on traffic. However I've made it in 45 minutes a couple times.
willh51 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 ^Yeah, Busch Gardens is like 1 hour and 15 minutes or so tops from Kings Dominion.

True, keep in mind the site that's hosting the poll is geared towards the average joe GP'er & not toward the enthusiast crowd that know about the existance of the other rides.  One month till opening day!!! so who here's planning on attending? I plan to be there with my camcorder to get some decent opening day footage between rides.
Skycoastin Steve Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 ^I'll be there opening day, hopefully it's not a disaster like last year's opening day.
coasterfreak101 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I'll be there with Boyfriend and the Lesbians! I really hope they say beforehand whether I305 should be open or not - I've got a girl dying to ride it before our trip to CoasterMania in June!
braztaz Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I'll be there opening day, and if not, Opening Sunday.
PhantomNick Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Man, I really need to get down there this summer and ride this bad boy! I've never been to KD, and I'm very curious to see how I-305 stacks up for me, especially against my current #1 steel (Millennium Force). I've been drooling over I-305 ever since those awesome pics and videos poured in last summer!! TWISTY!
