WOFanatic Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 The ride itself is amazing and *enthusiasts* love it. Enthusiasts don't determine whether a ride is successful for a park though. There's a reason that after 18 years, Volcano can easily have a 90 minute wait while I-305 is a two train wait. And very little of that is capacity--I-305 often runs one train. It's all about ROI and evidently it wasn't what Kings Dominion was hoping for it to be. But regardless the park still doesn't *need* a new coaster. Attendance isn't plummeting. People forget that the enthusiast community makes up a small portion of the people at the parks. I never meant to say the ride is bad. I305 is phenomenal. But the GP reaction? Lackluster.
Jcoaster Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I was thinking that perhaps Kings Dominion would decide to give I305 buzz bar restraint to attract more riders/bring in more families. Oh hell yes please. I accept my adrenaline-fueled trip to the grave with open arms.
bill_s Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 It's probably just because people can't handle riding it too many times in a row like they can with other rides but trust me, I live near the park and so many more people starting going to the park when I305 was added. This. It just got the park a lot more respect. The immediate need of keeping ahead of BGW could have been done with other coasters but this goes further. They didn't need just another coaster. I think they'll get a new coaster soon, but as a replacement and I don't mean for Shockwave.
coasterfreak101 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I never meant to say the ride is bad. I305 is phenomenal. But the GP reaction? Lackluster. I don't think I've ever seen someone come off of I305 with a lackluster reaction.

I don't think I've ever seen someone come off of I305 with a lackluster reaction. I however have seen a grown man say "hell no" to riding it many times within my one wait for Anaconda. Sure enough he did not ride it, Even when offered money.

ImNotOneOfYou Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Even if it's a Mack spinner I'd take it. I'll remember this when you arent satisfied with their next addition.
madmax Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Even if it's a Mack spinner I'd take it. I'll remember this when you arent satisfied with their next addition. As long as it isn't a junior or ultra-family coaster I'll accept it.
TB305 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Even if it's a Mack spinner I'd take it. I'll remember this when you arent satisfied with their next addition. This post is pure gold.
coasterbill Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I just want to point out again that I think people are seriously underrating how good giant frisbees actually are. I'd rather have one of them than a good deal of coasters and I'm sure it'll be better than a good chunk of the coasters currently operating at KD.

I'd rather have one of them than a good deal of coasters and I'm sure it'll be better than a good chunk of the coasters currently operating at KD. Drop towers and frisbee's (particularly the outward facing kind) are definitely some of the only rides outside of coasters I ever spend time riding! ... unless I'm at a Disney or Universal park with a decent dark ride.
Superbatboy Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I get the ominous feeling Ouimet and co. are going to continue to shaft KD for a few more years. I think CW, KI, CP, and Carowinds will all get their next coasters before KD. Hope I'm wrong, but I just get that feeling...

CoasterDirected Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 It's literally a 300 foot coaster, that's what it is supposed to do, scare most riders...
Ape Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Some people just take things way too seriously around here...
Jcoaster Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Some people just take things way too seriously around here... A three hundred foot coaster scaring people? Perposterous.
DorneyKid14 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 UPDATE!!! Work on Delirium is moving along nicely!! An if you haven't heard, the park is updating their sign that is visible from I-95!! It will feature a brand new LED board! https://t.co/CVsN25tWjP link to photo updates!
palmerleeberry Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Well, it has been a while since I last visited this post ( just like the last time I visited this park) and I can see all the comments and arguments and concerns happening within this post. I didn't go to Kings Dominion nor any other Cedar Fair Park in the 2015 season, but I do feel a need to go this season and purchase a new CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS! As for all the talk about "we want a new coaster" I fully agree. As for what kind of coaster that will be a perfect fit for Kings Dominion, that will create a huge matter of debate. Should we be the next park in line to get a Wing coaster, or should we be the first park in the Cedar Fair circuit to have The Hurler transformed into Iron Hurler, or get the newest coaster type that no other park has thought of getting? One coaster type I would root for is A Water Coaster for our waterpark. If Kings Dominion gets a water coaster, then we'll be the first and ( so far) only park in the Cedar Fair Circuit that has this type of coaster. Then again, this will cause the situation similar to the time when a customer complained that there was a fly in his soup. You don't get it? The waiter quickly whispered into the customer's ear, "Quiet sir, or else everybody would want one!"
BeansproutMidget Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 ^ Glad I read the rest, since I stopped at the 'what kind of coaster' and almost left.
Vonni Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 ^^ I could see a Wing Coaster being a very feasible option
madmax Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Hurler is not big enough to make a good RMC ride. If we were to get an RMC I would want a woodie built from the ground up. I would want either a wingrider or a hyper.
