Sea Dragon - Turns out it's one of the good ships.

Chance ships are the only swinging ships worth riding. They come in a variety of themes but the most common are the Sea Dragon or Pharaoh's Fury themes. Some parks have them run crap programs, but for the most part they swing at a near vertical position in the end seats leading to great floater air. Dorney seems to run theirs properly so I almost always ride it while I'm there.

I assume this means that Sea Dragon at MiA is a Chance model? If so, that makes a lot of sense, as it has always seemed like one of the best, if not THE best swinging ships I've ever ridden!

Soon enough, the only haunts left will be generic horror situations and clowns.

Until the Local 3269 Union of costumed performers steps in and lodges a complaint for being insensitive to the needs and respect of the facepaint-enabled.

Yup, anything with the SeaDragon branding is a Chance. Sometimes they're toned down (Knott's / Santa Monica Pier) but usually they swing higher than any of the other ones.

In light of the recent unusual clown sightings around US towns as of late, they might eventually ban those too.

I was there last night, and although I didn't do any of the mazes the ones I saw that had consistent lines were Trick-or-Treat, Blackout, and the Chamber of Horror Wax Museum.

Took a trip to the park for my first ever visit to the Haunt with Genx24 Saturday.

I thought the event was very well done. Even though we didn't do any mazes they looked well done and decently scary. The fog was outrageous though. They had to shut down Demon Drop for a little bit because all of the fog. Besides that the crowds were light and I even got some airtime on Thunderhawk in the front row. So overall a good trip.

Oh also, when did they take the holding brake off the back spike of Possessed and why?

Im dissappointed in Dorney for actually not having one of these.

I like this shot too. They should always add fog to coasters. It just looks good.

Awesome photos! I like Dorney's Haunt.

I have heard of them turning off the holding brake on Possessed at times for whatever reason. It was on when I was there in late August.

The holding brake was on Possessed a couple weeks ago--so it is definitely still used.

It is a shame you missed the mazes, they are some of the best I've been through (ever, anywhere, and I've been to about seven other Halloween events).

Did they do an unbelievably massive overhaul of them in the past four years or something? My last trip to Dorney's haunt was in 2011 and I was thoroughly unimpressed. I saw tons of potential but it was all wasted. It seemed like everything was thrown together last minute on a shoestring budget.

Wait, what? Comparing Haunt to Hersheypark in the Dark is absolutely pointless. They are absolutely two different kinds of events. Hershey's is completely geared towards kids with minimal decorations, no trails, and no scare actors. A sensible comparison would be Greatadv's Fright Fest. I personally think Dorney does a much better job.

Fantastic photos, Jcoaster. That sunset pic of Stinger is one of the greatest coaster pics I've ever seen!!

I remember the fog at Dorney Haunt last year was crazy, too.

Actually yes. They've put up some permanent Haunt structures which allows them to improve the quality a bit since they can just leave everything up all year.

It's not amazing but it's better than Six Flags.

I try...I try. Really right place at the right time sort of thing but i'll take the credit for Nature's work.

Yes Dorney has focused more on haunt this year. With the new Blood on the Bayou maze inside of the old Club Blood, they've really done a nice job. Urgent Scare is ok but not my favorite. I do agree the decorations added around the park were great (especially CarnEvil with more theming).
