Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom Discussion Thread

p. 201 - Iron Menace announced for 2024!

Recommended Posts

Honestly though this park has a perfect setup for Winterfest. The kids area is right up front so they could easily close 3 narrow paths and restrict everyone to the kids area and the Hydra / Talon / Mouse area and run those 3 rides, plus they're putting 2 new family rides up there next year.

That being said if the other parks are any indication then they'll be way too conservative and won't run those coasters which would take away all of the appeal from an enthusiast standpoint (not that that matters, I'm speaking selfishly here). It may have some pull with families but Hershey's event is already really well established in the area and has a very competitive price point.

So just to clarify, the source is a 6 year old who has insider information on capex who relayed the information to another 6 year old who then relayed it to you who's now relaying it to us.

Cool.

To be fair, this can actually, really happen! KT goes to school in an area with a lot of children of Disney and Universal higher-ups and they have spilled quite a few things!

She would come home from Kindergarten telling us about new attractions coming to Universal and was right!

KT also asks the best questions at Career Day for us.

I've frequented the forum for awhile and never really had the need to post....bickering about lines isn't my thing. The news, rumors, etc. is very interesting, so when I have one to share I thought it was worth creating a login and doing so.

As for the source being a couple 6 year olds it makes 100x more sense than anything else on a forum. I see Mike Fehnel picking up his kids in his DP Management attire each week. His two sons both play with mine. Considering we take my son to Dorney on Friday nights it happens to be a conversation topic with them (six year old can have very extensive conversations for those who do not have children). For my son to come home all excited and say, "Guess what Daddy, Christmas is coming to Dorney Park" it all just comes together.

Turning this into 6 year olds having CAPEX discussions is just stupid. Its kids having conversations about what they know and interests them. Nothing more. I'll buy anyone Crab Fries and a beer if proven wrong.

I hope you're right, but you have to understand that if I had a dollar for everyone who showed up just this week alone out of nowhere with 1 post and broke some new and exciting story I'd be able to buy enough beer and crab fries to put me in a coma. So hopefully you're right but you can't blame anyone for being skeptical. You sound sensible though so I'm optimistic.

Similar thing happened in advertising about 20 years ago when kids at a Connecticut elementary school were talking. One kid (Jimmy) told another kid (John) that his father would be working on a well known account. Well John thought his father was working on that account and asked his father if he worked with Jimmy's father. John's father didn't work with Jimmy's father but knew he worked at a competing ad agency so he asked his boss about the situation. The bosses knew nothing. It turns out the client had a secret review and was in the process of switching advertising agencies and no one knew about it.

I went to Dorney yesterday and the longest line was for the Wild Mouse (as usual).

Talon, Thunderhawk, Steel Force were all 1 train waits for just the front row, walk on everywhere else. We only spent 2 hours in the main park because we spent the day in the water park, which had normal lines.

Mariners Munchies, then you worked at the park when I got the big bad boot. It was Tuesday, August, 15, 2000 and the park was busy, my brother and I went to the waterpark, I was 26 at the time. I went on Wildwater River and behind me s far back in line was this cute girl with glasses and pigtails, when on the ride I held my innertube back by holding on to the wall, and the girl showed up. I said to her "you're pretty" and something else and then continued on the ride. But then, lifeguards were telling me to keep moving for some reason and when the ride was over we headed to Thunder Canyon and went on that, then returned to WWK to get a cold snack at the snack bar across from where Riptide Run was, and I noticed the family of the girl over toward the exit of Riptide Run with a DPP security officer. The officer started walking toward me. I thought "uh oh". The officer asked for my name and asked us to come with him. He waited while we changed into dry clothes, they escorted us to the upper security office. We waited in a room, then the officer had to call my mom to get us, and made us sign a form saying our passes are revoked for the season and a trespass order saying we are banned from the property for the rest of the season. My mom wasn't too happy, she took her man friend's (who lived with us since 1994) mom to a doctor appointment and had to leave to get us. She didn't let us go at all in 2001, except one time in late September. The officers escorted us to the gate and we had to leave.

That was the only time I was actually ejected from the park, although I had a few close calls after that in 2008, (big higher up security guy named Basta) Oct 9, 2009 (Jason McClure GM) and Oct 2014 (some older security guy). I'm not going to say what the incidents were. They were just warnings. What happened to chief Dan Hall? Did he leave the park? He had a segment on All Worked Up and he kicked a guy out for two years for joyriding on the swan boats. I met him a few times in the park, nothing wrong, just happened to see him walking. Yeah, it was an unfortunate incident near Death Trap entrance and Thunderhawk exit that I met previous GM Jason McClure. He had a yellow Haunt coat on and he was on a cell phone, so I sat on a bench and waited. He got off the phone and walked up to me. He just warned me for something, but nothing else happened. I guess by the weird pictures you just posted you were a bit freaked out by my last post. I'm sorry, but it was a true story. It actually happened. You don't want to mess with DPP security. I guess their job is to keep the park safe so they have to get rid of anyone who would be a potential threat for whatever reason or disorderly conduct. What would happen if you tried to run from security if you knew they were after you or tried to leave the park and run away? Would they call the SWT police or just leave it go?

I love it when there's a post that's so insane that it triggers an urgent drunk text at 11:45 at night from Boldikus while you're driving to Cedar Point.

Somehow I missed this until now but holy crap it didn't disappoint. What the actual f**k???

Anyway given the description I could already see why they just straight up called security ("you're pretty"?) lol. But if that's the line you're proud of I couldn't imagine what the "something else" was.

I love how every time a thread gets boring (by that I mean users are banned, posts are deleted and discussion returns to normal) a new thread steps up to provide new entertainment. First it was the Kings Dominion thread, then the Valleyfair thread, and now it's the Dorney Park thread that provides the "fun"!

Not sure if the mods agree with me though...
