Juggler
I'm taking it easy and doing loads of work so the beer is going down slowly but very nicely. Next up Wychwood's "Osprey" Perfect beer for a "BlueBuzzard"

Rugged One
So yesterday, Kim and I had our first Saturday off in awhile without anything planned, so we decided to get back to Troegs, which we hadn't been to in almost 6 months. At Westy's we were very pleased to find that they are now a wholesale distributor of Stone products, inncluding the limited release stuff. Naturally I had to pick up a case of the Vertical Epic for Derek and I to split. On the way over to Westy's, we checked out the site of what is going to be a new a new ABC location on the West Shore in Camp Hill. Not sure yet if they are going to be brewing there or not. Then sampled the July specialty. The Hinterland Hefe. Started out with the June specialty. The Rockville Rye. Hmmm, what to get? What to get? Naturally, we had to stop at the ABC for some lunch afterwards. Shot of the kick ass Troegs delivery van on the way out. Ah, I leave Troegs a happy man. With a sample of Rugged Trail Nut Brown and a full growler of Dreamweaver. Life is good! Yeah, the Dreamweaver Wheat is now available in cases. I knew last fall when they finally bottled this and put it just in the mix cases that it wouldn't stay that way. I sampled some of my favorite. The Troegenator! Once again, the tasting room was just packed with people. As you enter, they have the new case artwork on display. What the heck is this! Me in front of Troegs with an empty growler? We'll have to rectify this immediatley!
PhishyBrewer
^I had three bottles of the 06.06.06 Vertical Epic. I'm down to two. I'm going to let them condition for a couple years and watch the tasting notes that are posted every six months. http://www.stonebrew.com/epic/060606/notes/052506.html
PhishyBrewer
Karen, Gavin and I got away from the heat of Sacramento and headed up to Lake Tahoe for lunch and a movie. It was 115 in Sacramento and about 84 in Lake Tahoe. Big difference. And then we caught Pirates 2. We played a little mini-golf. After lunch we walked around Tahoe a bit. I'm always impressed on how good the food is here. It really kicks the Hard Rocks ass! And when you eat at the Cabo Wabo, it's only right to drink at least one Waborita. We had lunch at Sammy's Cabo Wabo. Insert Elissa's boobs here.
DerekRx
I last left off at Fridays on Friday with some Sam. Saturday took me to Albany after lunch in Rochester. Followed by the Saranac Mountain Ale, lots of fruitiness and honey, etc. More like 1/2 average beer, 1/2 fruit punch On the way to my aunt's outside of Albany I stopped off to pick up some local stuff, Saranac. Started out with the Summer Ale, refreshing but not much to write home about And some Nicole for dessert Which went well with my chipotle smoked chicken enchiladas At a Houlihan's in Victor (near Rochester) I enjoyed a Sam Adam's Summer Ale, complete with orange slice
DerekRx
So after 3 full days of driving at least 3 hours, I found myself passing Bethlehem Brew Works on the way home. Couldn't pass off a stop there for lunch! The main reason I stopped by, to pick up my 2005 mug Double-fisted Belch! Went great with my lobster salad sandwich and beer battered fries But since the waiter screwed up, I got the pint for free! Time to double-fist blueberries! More volume for cheaper makes me happy Ah, much better (and taller!) This doesn't look like a nice new mug!? I think I'll have a Blueberry Belch in my new mug
DerekRx
After getting home and mowing the grass, it was time for more beer! (ok, in reality any time is time for beer) Beer good, Napster bad! With dinner comes some IPA After BBW, even grandma wanted some beer. Victory lager was the winner Maybe I should have had 2 of these! #9 in my 05 BBW mug. Looks half empty, but that's what a 22oz glass does!
niiicolaaah
Derek, your grandma is so cute!!
mcjaco
That 22 oz. mug would be a much better fit for one of these! Getting up to refill is a pain the buttocks. Unless, of course, you're getting a second round. I just realized they no longer have the "Chicago Inagural" label.....
DerekRx
Decided to start off with a Saranac Kolsch Ale tonight. It was an ok beer, not as good as Curve Ball by Pyramid though. I think I've determined something about Saranac, their beers aren't very carbonated, as so far they've all had more of a wine-like nature to them. A little bit of flavor, but not much fizz Another beer from the Adirondacks
Rugged One
So Derek has given me inspiration to delve into some more of the Saranac brews I picked up last month in New York. Went with the Hefe tonight. Pretty strong banana and coriander accents in this one but the overall beer left me wanting more. Kind of like the other ones I've had from them. The Saranac Hefe in a big ass BBW Hefe glass. Almost holds two of those suckers. Almost.
DerekRx
Forgetting the Saranac theme for a bit, I want flavor! Ah, now that's hoppy! Lost Coast, I beckon you!
FlyerACE1
Time to play a little catch up with this past weekend's beer selections. We'll start off with a beer from the Sam Adams Brewer Patriot collection. I *was* looking forward to checking these out until Wally posted his reviews. But, since I purchased them before his posts, we had to give it a shot. Check it out... And Ellen finishes with one of her all-time faves- Pyramid Apricot Weizen. Oooohhh...sweet nectar of the gods! This face is reserved only for the 90 Minute, quite possibly my favorite IPA. Staying with Dogfish Head, I went back to an old favorite. Sweet! This limited release is better served closer to room temperature. It had chilled too much in the fridge but after some time in the glass, it's just how we remembered it at the brewpub. One down, 3 to go and we'll save them for another time. To counterbalance the awful tastes in our mouthes, we crack open the Dogfish Head Zwaanend'ale! Good God! A cross bewteen cough medicine, root beer and a heavy mollasses taste. I love Sam but this is putrid! Is this what our founding fathers drank?? Wally was right. Based on Ellen's reaction...I must be in for a real treat. Hmmm...smells like root beer. Could it be as bad as reported? The 1790 Root Beer Brew was up first. CoasterFanatic
^ Pretty sure that there is a reason that the life expectancy was in the 30-40s back then.
DerekRx
So, its a random Tuesday of the week in July. What a better time to catch up with Heath and Kim (or Keath and Him!) at Lancaster Brewing! Heath then went with the Hefe (as poor Kim sat beer-less enjoying a Pepsi and I didn't get any photos of her weak drink) I chose the regular Red Rose amber ale Then I was faced with a big decision, Cask conditioned Red Rose, or Regular... Heath did the same! And we talked coasters and whatnot and whathaveyou While I enjoyed a Hop Hog IPA... Hey here we are! Not but 30 minutes from home
mcjaco
Well a buddy I play baseball with shares my enthusiam for brews so we've been trading some back and forth. I traded a Hop Devil for a Lake Front Brewery's New Grist. A beer that uses rice. No head and yet very carbonated with a nasty after taste.....I got screwed in this trade. I seriously have no idea what to make of this. Looks good, where's the head?
DerekRx
For future reference, NEVER trade a HopDevil for ANYTHING, not even sexual favors from Heidi Klum (well, ok, that may be the one exception)! Couldn't end the night of drinking at 7:30pm, so I tried the Saranac Belgian White when I got home. Probably the best of their beers so far that I've had! Not too sweet like the Belgian triples, but not as wheaty as the others. Nice flavor and overall enjoyment
USRoadTripper
Nummy...Woodchuck hard cider! So are ciders like the powered coasters of the beer world? Kinda like beer, but not really. -Julie
DerekRx
^I'd consider them more like kiddie coasters than powered. Nonalcoholic beers would be the powereds. Besides, Glutenfree is an official member of BACT, and the poor dude can't drink anything but cider. We'd hardly let anyone into BACT if they could only do powereds! DerekRx
Tonight I got a beer (thanks to Heath) to fill up my 22oz BrewWorks mug. Its one I've been hoping to try for a while, but didn't think I'd be able to get it for another month. Nice maltiness with some chocolate and cherry hints in there. Nice finish too with a little bit of hops. Can't wait to try another bottle in a year! Stone's 06-06-06 Vertical Epic!
Rugged One
Found an old Weyerbacher Hops Infusion in the back of the beer fridge tonight, so I decided to have a little "Hops Infusion Challenge" and see how it compared to the new and improved version. And I've got to say that I was a little surprised. The old Infusion was much hoppier than the new one but that's about it. The new one is definitely more complex, although I wish it was a little hoppier. You know what though, their still both darn tasty. ....and the newly reformulated version....suprisingly not. Although it's still pretty darn good. The old Weyerbacher Hops Infusion. Surprisingly hoppy....
