StealthFan Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 It "looks" slow, but dont forget, that was probably the very first run with people and first runs with people are always slow Coasters can tell the difference between water dummies and people? Only B&Ms can! They are magic don't you know! On a real note I doubt the ride will get too much faster. The most they can do is change the wheel compounds or my preferred method of speeding stuff up using excessive amount of lubricant. -Craig
Richard Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 ^ Ride speeds vary quite abit. If you've ever seen Nemesis do it's test run on a cold morning unloaded. It CRAWLS round! Talking to a techie it turns out the difference in speeds between a hot and cold day is surprisingly a lot. Also if the ride's been operating for a long time, the friction heats everything up and gets all the lube loose. EVERYTIME a new B&M gets testing..everyone says it's slow. I've been around coaster forums since I was 14 and I've seen the same comments every year. I think you should give a little leeway for the fact that 1.it's COLD atm (stupid winter) 2. it's new and 3.it's unloaded. Also wing riders have to have slow rotation through all it's banking to stop lats in the outer seats so it kind of gives an illusion of slowness.
StealthFan Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 the friction heats everything up and gets all the lube loose. Thats my kind of science!
dominoes Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 New map released. I like it somehow, and I have no idea why...
AstroDan Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 It completely reflects the marketing style of the park. I don't like the marketing style of the park, so naturally dislike this. However, I cannot really criticize it when it works for them.
ernierocker Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 The map was already posted literally two pages back: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1147608#p1147608 Please try and take a few minutes to search the thread in the future to make sure you are not posting repeat information. We don't expect you to search back 100 pages, but it shouldn't be too much to ask that you search a few pages back.
chickenbowl Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I kinda really hate that map. It's too messy, therefore losing it's basic function of a map.
StealthFan Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I kinda really hate that map. It's too messy, therefore losing it's basic function of a map. The thing with Thorpe Park thought is its quite possibly the easiest park in the world to navigate. You just look at what ride you want to go to and head in that direction. The map is just for show and a bit of generalization to say what shops, food outlets etc are by certian rides. And then all the info for shows and event on the back. I wouldn't class it as map, more like a guide.
australianalex Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I have no idea why my post simply saying I dislike the map was deleted. But I'll say it again. I dislike the map as it is very messy, however its a good point that its more of a "guide".

I looked at the post dates, and I thought the map had been posted after that date I thought it had been posted on the Thorpe Park website on the 25th. That's why I didn't look. Really sorry...
themightyjack Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I bloody hope this is not the final advert, simply shocking in comparison to what everything else THORPE PARK have done!
coasterfreak101 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 ^I really like the ad, it's perfect to get people excited about a new ride! It would get me pumped if I loved near the park, for sure.
themightyjack Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 A on board POV has been released by the park! Looks good to me!
tiger01 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 There was one comment on that video that made me laugh. i head u get ur arms cut off on this ride i dnt think its safe Gullable much???
RCT3Bross Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 That onride looks very slow. But the rest looks good even the layout so I don't care much that its a bit slow.
Geauga Dog Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 For being a relatively short ride it seems like it's going to pack a punch. I particularly like how the first dive/drop makes it look like you are going to go into the water.
UrbanLegend Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 If you use the scroll wheel to scroll up and down quickly on that last picture, it looks like the train is dancing!
pyrocoasterkid Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Now the reports of missing limbs has made Yahoo's front page. Do you think the author's of these articles realize it was a spoof/fake article created by the marketing department? http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/winged-roller-coaster-swarm-rips-arms-off-crash-183513325.html#ugccmt-container
RollerCoasterSmi Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 27 days until I ride this thing! I can't wait to give it a try, although I am not expecting much... It'll be a fun ride for sure, but I am not expecting it to blow me away by any means.
coasterfreak101 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Man, it does hit the two zero-Gs veeery slow. But the theming looks like it'll make for some great interactions!
cal1br3tto Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I'd forgotten how photogenic those trains are. They've pulled the theming off well, too; love that plane headchopper!
Reuschini Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Do you think the author's of these articles realize it was a spoof/fake article created by the marketing department? Nope. People in the reporting business should just stay the hell away from discussing theme parks. They literally have no clue what they're talking about a majority of the time, and that misinformation gets spread to the general public. Irresponsible news-reporting IMO.
