Simon Baynham Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Hi all I don't have still photos, but I do have a geeky-dweeby collection DVDs and videos showing parks coming down: Euclid Beach Park Riverview (Chicago) Chippewa Lake Park Mountain Park Crystal Beach Idora Park Riverview (Iowa) Palisades Park Lincoln Park Meyers Lake Park Whalom Park Rocky Point Crescent Park Savin Rock Columbia Gardens Norumbega Park Bertrand Island Park Willow Grove Park... and others. Call me a softy, but it always brings a tear to my eye watching old amusement parks perish. Simon
Paul_Hollibone Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Whilst I don't have any photos of the demolition (there are a few aftermath photos around) but when Wonderland Sydney was being demolished, they had to pull down the parks most significant coaster somehow. The bush beast was essentially a mirrored clone of Grizzly at CGA, and when it came to demolish the thing, apparently they got 2 construction tractors (you know, the big CAT things) attached part of the old Chairlift cable between the two tractors and just plowed their way through the ride. Apparently though the ride didn't give up without a fight, and many of the first attempts snapped the cable. There are a few aftermath photos around as I said, but they arent mine, but in the photos you can see the freyed cable, so whether it's a true story remains to be proven, but I'd say it's more than likely true.
Thelegendarymatthew Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I don't think I could ever have a favorite destruction picture.. I could...if they ever tear down Hurler at KD I'll be the first one in line to take the picture. Whats so bad about hurler. Its my #11! Anyways, I wish I could see some of the older KD and BGE demolishion pics.
JEAPUgrad Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 ^the coaster continues to suck butt year in and year out. That's why.
John Peck Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 These make me SAD. (they are not my photos) Double Loop Double Loop Double Loop Double Loop Villian Villian Dominator Remains
itsasamccormick Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I can't wait to see chang's photos. I love this thread.
themeparkman25 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 ^Chang isn't going to be demolished though. It'll be dismantled, which will be cool, but you can just watch a coasters construction in reverse if that is what you want to see.
palmerleeberry Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 John Peck wrote as he sent in a couple of pictures that weren't his (mind you) of the deconstruction of Geuage Lake): These make me SAD Same here, buddy. It's hard to imagine when (all those years ago) I was riding those coasters and thinking they would still be there for many, many years after I've ridden them. Now it's today and there's nothing left there but old footers and memories of a ride that once was there. It could make a fellow real loud. I better end this before I break out into tears. * * * * No signature on this post. It's way too sad.
The Joker's Revenge Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 In all honesty, I strongly believe that they're parks and rides out there that need to put out of their misery. This thread owns!
Jds03 Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Ahhh, the worst ride I've ever been on being taken down to make way for the BEST ride I've ever been on. Excellent. Seriously, Viper was a God awful ride... Ahhhh, I hear you there! I agree with everything said!!!
StarTrekGeek Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 So yeah, I brought back this thread. I just found this pic of GASM at Six Flags Great Adventure getting demolished: http://www.gadv.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16824&st=540&p=417633entry417633 That demolition looks insane.

coastermaniac Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Those Geauga Lake photos are the reason why I dislike Cedar Fair.
Meteornotes Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I will never get tired of seeing these photos... dt
ArundelHigh Coasters Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I will never get tired of seeing these photos... dt Lol, when I saw this old thread bump up, I know it was because of SOB.
Mr Stratosphere Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I think this is worthy of a bump, I still couldn't believe how the lift hill just fell apart like it was made of playing cards. [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/87EWEKg1MXc[/youtu_be]
CPSFMMCW Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 When I saw SoB fell down, I was all like WOW. Kings Island is awesome. Instead of removing it section by section, they DETONATED it so it juts fell over! And to make things awesomer, they put an animated SoB collapsing in the Banshee announcement video!
TheDarkStar Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Hi guys. I know this topic was rather old, but I was browsing through google earlier, and came across this. The coaster ruined in hurricane sandy. I found a few images of them demolishing it. Here you go. Oh, also... Hello there. I'm new. Edited March 15, 2014 by robbalvey
booink Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 That boat with a demolition claw on it looks extremely bada$$ !
TheDarkStar Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Not really a coaster, but still a really cool image from google. SFOT demolishing that tall thing...
