I pretty much want to experience one of these more than just about anything else, and I am wondering if I am just an anomaly in the enthusiast world that hasn't experienced one. So, the question is, have you or haven't you experienced a short shot "roll back" on an intamin accelerator?

This is about as close as I have gotten. =[

Yes, I actually have! I have experienced a very rare Xcelerator rollback last April, and it was awesome. The train was going very slowly over the top hat, almost stalled, and I started thinking "rollback?". Then the train started crawling backwards (you don't know how excited I was) and there we went...down half of a top hat 200 ft. backwards. The train hit the brakes on the launch pad and we slowly came back into the station and were let off. The ride then closed...didn't even get a re-launch, but I'm not complaining.

My first ride on Top Thrill Dragster was a rollback...from the front row, no less!!!! It was, without a doubt, the highlight of my first visit to Cedar Point. The realization at the top of the top hat that we were indeed beginning to go backwards was dizzying. The 400 foot backwards descent was epic, and, of course, getting a second launch was just a whole bunch of delicious icing on the fabulous coaster cake!! Finally, rolling through the brake run and seeing all the people in line looking at us with obvious jealousy made me feel very lucky. While I consider TTD to be a one-trick pony (but, WOW, what a trick!), that experience earned the ride a special place in my heart.

I haven't, but I came close when I rode Kingda Ka in 2007. On my first ride, it easily cleared the top hat. However, on my second ride 5 minutes later, there was no wait (if only I was at the park for more than the final two hours of the day), the train barely made it over the top hat. As the train was going up the tower, I remember thinking that it would indeed roll back, but sadly, there was just enough speed to get over the top.

The first year Top Thrill Dragster opened, we were filming for the ride's commercial and CBS morning show and I was on the second loaded rollback ever (also first televised lol). It was fun, but overall pretty overrated for how people put it the experience on a pedestal.

Unfortunately no.

But. Somewhat similar-ish. Something failed on 2Face (R.I.P.) anywho, the station brakes never came on until about 2-3 minutes of rocking back and fourth between the boomerang and the station lift. It was pretty fun, until the brakes did decide to stop us, very QUICKLY.

I have seen both Kingda Ka and Top Thrill Dragster rollback but only on tests. I have come close twice. On Kingda Ka last year I had a ride where we just crawled over the top. Also in 2006 on Storm Runner the train just about stopped on the ride and I honestly thought we would rollback but nope.

Unfortunately I was told that it wont happen on Xcelerator anymore because the ride will not allow dispatch in a shot shot situation.

Calicoaster- Ya, what do you mean by that? I didn't know that anyone knew a short shot was coming before dispatch, I always thought it was like a mid launch to end of launch kind of thing, were it just happened.

^Corkscrew- What do you mean roll back on those coasters, the impulses are meant to go backwards? Did the coaster fault half way into the launch and only gave you half a push? In that case I have experienced it on Half Pipe at Elitches, but I don't consider that a roll back.

I THINK he meant after a roll back the ride wont allow the train to be dispatched again until the "problem" is rectified. Or something like that.

No, I meant that the ride system has been adjusted to prevent short shot dispatches, so we wont be seeing much or maybe any rollbacks from Xcelerator. Even though what you said was not what I meant, that statement is true as well.
