TheHulk Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 If this topic has been discussed already, please go ahead and lock the thread. I believe we had a topic for movies with roller coasters, but what about commercials. The latest one I've seen is for Alltel featuring Silver Bullet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvQOrjugLH0
eddie200330 Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 So, with the people in the last year or so that have died doing stupid crap like this, is it really responsible of a major company to produce a commercial promoting "going over the fence" to get cool stuff? Seems pretty idiotic to me.....
netdvn Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 I remember seeing a thread about that commercial on another forum. Here it is. http://coasterbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/55358.aspx
Top Thrill Dragster Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 So, with the people in the last year or so that have died doing stupid crap like this, is it really responsible of a major company to produce a commercial promoting "going over the fence" to get cool stuff? Seems pretty idiotic to me..... Not really, if you pause the video 0:04 you can clearly see the fence blocking the guest from the ride. And the area where the guest are, there is no fence blocking it off. So this video dose not promote "going over the fence" to get cool stuff. And in real life, there is no grass where the guest are, its part of the midway.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Cedar Fair and grass in the same sentence? Was that a typo?
WFChris Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 ^Only possible in the context that it was used...pointing out that there is NO grass in that location in real life!!!! Chris.
cathyJ Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Back in the 60s and early 70's, Norfolk, VA's WGH-AM 1310 ( Norfolk's big rock station at the time ) in some of their TV ads featured The Rocket at Ocean View Amusement Park. Back in those day I believe WGH had a small remote studio at the park either right next to or UNDER the Rocket and yes because of the location often one would hear the Rocket and the screams...on WGH.
CHILLERLC1 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 There was just a Mazda ad with the I believe the Coney Island Cyclone? Is that how the Altel empire is going to end in commercials? I know Verizon now owns them.
JFrombaugh Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 The only commercial with a coaster in it that I can remember off the top of my head was that old one for Aflac where the goose screams "Aflaaaac!" when the train goes down a drop. I think the coaster was either Magnum or Steel Force.
k_peek_2000 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 At IOA I saw somebody go into a restricted zone near Dueling Dragons and picked up an iPhone and walked off with it. I told a security guard, but never found out what happend.
bhslhs Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 The western washington Mazda dealers have a drop on Twister from Elitch Gardens in Denver as a symbol of the economy.
Rollerman87 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I remember hearing about when they filmed that I had been wanting to see that AllTell commercial. As for other commercials, I know I keep seeing one where it shows a split second of Colossus, but I can't remember which.
clecktown Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 A Channel 4 UK one, featuring Jaguar! at KBF. At 0:26, the floating signs make the Channel 4 logo (smarts!).
gerd.muller Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Tried hard to find the pure commercial, but only found that one with the "Making-of", but it´s fun, too. The commercial itself starts at 2.40.
TheHulk Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 ^ That's a neat commercial. They might have a porsche for zero cars now. Lol. (Note the obvious sarcasm)
kumba830 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Here are a few.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsYfsssFSFU Not exactly a coaster but there is air time
BuschSchoe Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I believe Goliath in Canada is the coaster in this commercial? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvDe8eH7040&feature=channel_page
DiSab Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 ^haha, I was just about to post that. Yeah, that's Goliath at La Ronde.
expeditioneverestfan Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 As for other commercials, I know I keep seeing one where it shows a split second of Colossus, but I can't remember which. Bing commercial. Pause it at 00:24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy7Grx3fb2M I've also seen a McDonalds commercial where they say: Someone even has to test the coasters, and they show someone riding Goliath at SFMM. Then at the end they show someone eating a Big Mac with Viper running in the background. Car Commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8JXnUqergs
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 As much as I love coaster commercials, I have to say I despise and loathe the Ride Warriors commercials. Just when I thought Cedar Fair couldn't get any more lame, they out do themselves. I remember the Starburst advert though...oh nostalgia.
cal1br3tto Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 ^Wow, I can't stand that whole Ride Warriors thing. Unbelievably grating. Just, no. no. no. I love the Silverwood commercial! It shows this man just sitting and chillin', interspersed with images of the cute, family rides...like those adorable flying elephants. Then the man gets turned face down, his expression changes completely, and we realize he's on Aftershock! It makes it look like he just realized it as well. I think the dialogue is cool as well but I can't remember what they say. I'm sure this advertising concept has been done before, but it's the first time I've seen it, anyway.
Kennyweird Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I remember a commercial where some guy bends a paper clip into a loop and then that design somehow ends up as part of a roller coaster. Does anybody else remember that?
CheeseburgerZoo12 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 ^You might be thinking of a documentary about Arrow's design process.
nhman93 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 The Free Credit Report Band is back with a new jingle, this one was filmed on Goliath at La Ronde http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvDe8eH7040 PS. Its kinda funny there singing a song about debt at a Six Flags park
