Have you ever seen a celebrity at a theme park?

Recommended Posts

Way back in 1989 at WildWorld (before it turned into Six Flags America), I saw J.D. Roth who was doing a special show during a weekend at that park. At that time, he hosted a game show called "Funhouse" and he brought some of those sloppy games with him for this show.

Anyway, I saw J.D. Roth take a few rides on the Wild One

The other person may not have been a famous movie star, but he did star as an extra in the movie "National Treasure". My friend and I were waiting in line to ride "El Toro" at Six Flags Great Adventure when we struck up a conversation with another rider in front of us and he told us that he starred as an extra in the movie.

Other than that, I cannot say that I met any other famous people, unless you want to count Robb when I met him at Six Flags America one year during a Themepark Review Meet.

A bunch. But my favorite was Jason Kidd at Great Adventure. He and his wife skipped the line for Kingda Ka and boarded a train or two in front of me. I'm never one to hold back my opinions, so while everyone was oohing and ahhhing, I said, "Hey chump, until you at least win a championship, the line starts two hours from this point like everyone else." He was playing for the New Jersey Nets at the time, so naturally it wasn't a very popular comment. Oh well.

I love you.

That could only be trumped by a Sam Cassell sighting.

Yeah, I saw him at Universal Studios!

^ Thats a good question Mike......Im thinking Robb ranks right between Kathy Griffin and Dolph Lungren on the Celebrity List, recognizable yet someone you may or may not loan money to

Celebritywise, I used to work at SFoT back in the mid 90's, when WB ran the parks and they stayed opened until midnight on weekends, I ran into Fred Schneider from the B-52's in tights one night w/ Kate in tow, both were really cool and played my game I ran. The next evening George Strait brought his nephew out to the park to shoot hoop. I also ran into Gary Busey that summer as well, man that guy is a nut job.

Robb and Elissa at Sesame Place, Coney Island, SFNE, Quassy, Lake Compounce, Rye Playland, SFGAdv, SFA, Busch Gardens Europe, Kings Dominion, Morey's Piers, Clementon, Hersheypark, Dorney, and Knoebel's in August 2008.

Also, in March 2003, my dad and I saw Steven Spielberg getting out of his Limo which was just a few feet away from us, while we were in line for Backdraft at USH.

I have seen a ton of celebs while working at the Mall of America (the most recent being Joan Rivers a few weeks ago...ugh!). In fact, I would say that there is usually someone "famous" there every 1-3 weeks signing autographs and such. It's neat to walk into work every once in awhile and see a celebrity in the rotunda in front of a huge crowd of fans waiting for pictures and autographs. Others include (and these are celebs not scheduled to be there already):

Lindsay Lohan (who was a real snob while there too).

Nick Carter

Fall Out Boy (I ran Mighty Axe for them).

Brooke & Hulk Hogan

Ashley Simpson

Mario Lopez

Farrah Fawcett

Kelly Pickler (I checked her lap bar on Timberland Twister)

Sean Kingston (Who was too large to ride Mighty Axe btw)

Bam Margera

Pretty Ricky (which caused a stampede that left my supervisor in crutches after she was trampled)

My favorite celebrity encounter though is when I bumped shoulders with Chris Brown in a back hallway of the mall. My friend and I were on break and walking down a hallway with our lunch (Arby's I believe ) when suddenly the doors at the end of the hallway burst open and in walks Chris Brown and his possy escorted by a bunch of security guards (all of which were shorter than the entire possy). I was completely unaware of who he was at the time until the girl working at Kemps ice cream abandoned her post and went running down the hallway after him screaming his name and offering him Rocky Road. My first thought when I saw them was that they were getting kicked out or something because of the security guards. When they got closer, I clutched my curly fries and hugged the wall while they all walked by me and Chris Brown ended up bumping my shoulder...good thing i didn't give him any lip!

I'm sure I am forgetting a lot. There are also a ton of local celebrities that come as well like Vikings & Twins players. Lots of news anchors and others. I actually had to staple Matt Birk into the Camp Bus so he could ride with his little girl (for those who don't know him, he is the former eight-time pro bowl center for the Vikings who happens to weigh 300-something pounds).

I also saw Mike Boodley, Clair Hain, and the rest of the GCI crew at Valleyfair on opening day 2007

I've seen

Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) taking a questionnaire at Universal Orlando

I saw Hulk Hogan and his family being escorted around USO

The last one I saw was Ellen DeGeneres at IoA riding Hulk, I was after her in line. We waited a while for our ride because they took forever to set up the camera.

Saw Seth Green a couple of times at SFMM. Both times were a super bowl Sunday. (pretty cool considering the fact he's kinda the reason I got into TPR)

I'm curious, how so? Is he a member that I'm not aware of?

As far as celebrities go, I haven't seen any. Closest to that was probably seeing a commercial being filmed at Great Adventure. They had a section of the "Boardwalk" cleared, and a couple were walking down it, with cameras in front of them. It was kinda cool.
