RonLaan
When I go to tripsnpics site, the site is in French, but I can translate it a bit, correct me if I'm wrong. The park is owned by OCT and is going to be build in Chengdu. It'll cost 100 millions of dollars and 3 coasters will be in the park. A Vekoma SLC, a Vekoma Mine Train and a Intamin Mega-Lite Coaster. Also, on the website I see S&S Towers. Here is the park's website, I don't speak Chinese , anyone can translate it of find pictures? I have supper now. http://www.cdhlg.com/
Airtime&Gravity
It is great that another Happy Valley is opening, but I think the price is low. One hundred million dollars is low for almost a major new park, and it is very low for a park as well themed as the Happy Valley parks.
packfanlv
IMO having been to Happy Valley Shenzhen and Happy Valley Beijing, these are some of the worst run parks I have ever been to. Shenzhen does have nice theming, but Beijing, while it looks nice in pictures is really really cheaply done. All of the fake rock work (which is 90% of the park) is already looking worn two years later and they stagger there ride operating times so there is always a line for every ride. I have also never seen them run more than one train on there major coasters. As for the Chengdu park I translated their site with Google a while back and it didn't have an opening date, but according to RCDB its supposed to open this year. I am not sure if this was delayed because of the earthquake which was nearby. BTW OCT is also opening a new park in Shanghai next year. Lets hope that they actually learn to run a park. Chimelong Paradise is much much much much much much much much better park in my opinion!
harsaphes
Actually, you can have the news in english. Ok the translation may be sometimes a little bit weird, but it's always better than french
sam06pr
well this is weird they are also showing a superman ultimate flight clone and then they show a colossus clone
Théo the little french
Perfect translation RonLaand! I remember I saw that web site a few months ago, and like you sam06pr I didn't understand why we could see a B&M flying while they're speaking about Intamin ride.... speaking about Intamin, does anyone knows if it's gonna be a custom mega-lite or if it's gonna be a clone? I don't know if mega lite is a new category or if it's a new model (I think it's a category but I'm not sure...). By the way, nice to see you here harsaphes lol

Gutterflower
Well that was quick The Mega Lite is up already with a pretty sweet colour scheme. source:http://www.xbsh.cn/News/Zbdt/200808304691.html More as i find it EDIT: more construction The standard Happy Valley SLC clone goes up Checkout a TON of construction shots including the new mine train here http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html And just for luck theres a few more here http://qbar.qq.com/chengdubbs/7542.htm Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html Intamin Goodness Source: http://bbs.house100.cn/thread-15741-1-1.html
Wood Dragon 1988
I really like the red and green look to the mega lite. Much better colors than Piraten IMO.
jason10
I really love the look of that but the colour scheme is something I'm not too fond of. Hopefully, it will grow on me. The last picture looks like an Intamin/Vekoma hybrid with the same colour supports!
matteocrepaldi
Those Intamin mega lites look so good. I'd love to ride one.
robbalvey
Kawasemi is possibly in my top 5 steel coasters so to see another one of these being built...that's AWESOME! --Robb

Dleo
I like the colour scheme. In the one picture when I first looked, it seemed as though the track was just floating. The green supports blended well with all the green of the vegetation. It made me do a double take anyway. Would you count this track layout similar to Fahrenheit maybe? Or does this layout pack more punch?
DBru
Though I think the mega-lites are pretty cool... I'm loving these new Vekoma SLC's even more!
robbalvey
I'm loving these new Vekoma SLC's even more! Well, they aren't really "new" as the first one was put up in 2002 there just aren't that many of them. I think there may only be three in total, the two at the Happy Valley's and the one at Flamingoland, with another two under construction. Personally I really liked the one at Flamingoland (at least opening year) but I found the other two not much better than your average SLC. --Robb
Capitalize
So this new one is a clone, right? Looks to be... I love the way these things look, looks like some awesome times and some good airtime to be had. The Intamin site has a pretty spiffy video of the mega-lite ride. coolhandluke
Would you count this track layout similar to Fahrenheit maybe? Or does this layout pack more punch? I don't think I'd compare it to Fahrenheit in any way except that they're both pretty compact rides. Mega-lites are more like mini-mega/hyper coasters, and thus do not invert and are focused on the non-inverting elements. They look absolutely fabulous, though. I really hope a nice, charming, modest, smaller midwestern park picks up one of these babies--like Cedar Point! They could become to Intamin what Europa Park is to Mack. I don't think I'd compare it to Fahrenheit in any way except that they're both pretty compact rides. Although the guy from Intamin who was with us at Tobu Zoo actually did compare the Mega-Lite to Maverick and Fahrenheit because I think from a construction and project management perspective the rides may be more similar than 200 or 300 foot hyper coaster. I do agree, from my view I think of these as "Mini-Hypers" but I can see where the guys selling and putting up the ride may compare it more to a ride of similar size. --Robb
coolhandluke
^Ah, sure then. When I saw that question, my mind immediately jumped to ride experience, and not necessarily the structure of the ride. It makes sense that a park would view this as a small, compact ride like those other 2 in terms of construction, upkeep, etc, regardless of the ride experience. My one-tracked mind just couldn't consider all those things at once.
revilolee
I really like the layout of these mega-lites (Piraten/clones). I hope they make some in the US .
Steffen_Dk
Am I the only one thinking it's a shame that the only Lite coasters, we see, are Kawesemi-clones. Not that that layout is bad at all - Piraten is fantastic, but I just think it would be better to see some different layouts...
Jew
^Not me! I'm all for Intamin having an "off-the-shelf" model that more parks can afford.
robbalvey
^^ Agreed. It's like the Batman clones. If you're going to clone something, at least start with a GREAT layout. There aren't that many off-the-shelf layouts that would fall into my top 10 or top 20 overall coasters. Kawasemi certainly breaks into that list...Batman comes close! Everything else is Boomerangs & SLCs....blech! --Robb
Nosferatu
and I would guess much of the reason for the mega lite's success is probably due to relative small cost. They are pretty small, don't need any custom designing and offers a ride few others rides in the same price-category can offer. I rode Piraten this summer, and loved it. It was walk on all day (the ride ops even encouraged rerides in order to have something to do! )and I got a totalt of 17 rides. Imo it's better than both fahrenheit and Superman Ride of Steel (SFNE). Amazing ride, and a perfect addition to small parks like Djurs.
