robbalvey
Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Fårup Sommerland, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. There were no reported injuries. Damn, that's a bummer. That ride was very good! I hope they get it back up and running soon! --Robb

BiCoastal Kid
Eh, doesn't sound too major. While it's odd that the chain snapped, there were no injuries or anything, and all they'll have to do it re-track a new chain and get it inspected.

SharkTums
It happens on coasters all of the time! It's just a metal chain...there are weak points. Elissa 'it's usually pretty loud when they snap too!" Alvey

Steffen_Dk
Here in Denmark rumors have talked about a new coaster at Fårup Sommerland in 2008, and now it's slowly getting more and more official - though it's not 100% sure yet - but we hope According to Screamscape and rumors in Denmark it'll be the first Gertlauer launched coaster in the world, and it'll feature inversion(s). Copied from Screamscape: 2008/2009 - New Coaster - Rumor - (10/24/07) Screamscape sources tell us that Faarup Sommerland (Denmark) may attempt to build the first Gerstlauer launched coaster that will feature inversions in either 2008 or 2009. Gerstlauer: http://www.gerstlauer-rides.de/english/Gerstlauer_E.html RCDB: http://rcdb.com/m/se/id4090.htm EDIT: I found a picture of the layout: Fårup can do more than monkey bars
harsaphes
In fact, it's confirmed... The ride will be 540m long and will feature a top hat, two camelbacks, two inverting elements (some king of very banked Stengel dive and a corkscrew) as well as an overbanked turn

Steffen_Dk
Today Fårup Sommerland itself put the news at their website http://www.faarupsommerland.dk/ I know that almost none of you understand Danish, but I can tell you what the text says: The name will be Lynet (Danish for The Lightning), and it'll accelerate from 0-80km/h in 2 seconds. The full announcement will come as soon as possible
harsaphes
That's weird because Farup has already a coaster named Lynet (the powered one)
Airtime&Gravity
It looks really nice, and while not really big, it looks like a lot of fun. Farup already looked like a great park, and with a major coaster (major for a family park) like this, it will be even better.
Nrthwnd
Awesome! More to do on our TPR Scandi trip in 2009! Yum, indeed!
ECZenith
Ooo, I love top hats! It's amazing how many good coasters the Scandi area has been getting these days.
Steffen_Dk
^ Yeah - all the parks that are near my house get a coaster, and that's definitely NOT a every day thing here in Denmark!
Steffen_Dk
Fårup has now updated their site, and now a video and stats are available Stats: Length: 540 meters Hight: 20 meters Trains: 4 Train capacity: 6 Capacity: 960 persons/hour Speed: 80 km/h Acceleration G's: 1,5G Acceleration time: 2 sec. Acceleration length: 30 meters Horse power: 1020 And a video of the coaster: http://www.faarupsommerland.dk/default.asp?kategori1=3c&klip=lynet.wmv http://www.faarupsommerland.dk/default.asp?kategori1=8h&id1=432&id2=500 If you some of you find it necessary that I translate the Danish text, I'm more than willing to do it, but I just don't have the time right now. dr.gumbo
SPEED AIRTIME!!! This will be great for the park and great for Gerstlauer, hope these launch coasters catch on quickly! (Not mensioning any parks in particular.) Lightwater valley
asr
I don't understand why they didn't put trains on instead of single cars. Even with the two MCBRs, the capacity is going to suck. Although since it isn't really a major theme park maybe the capacity makes more sense. And it actually can shift more people in an hour than Fahrenheit can.
