freestylenut
Used to get motion sickness on coasters in my pre-teen/teen years...it went away eventually (maybe it was just nerves). I DO still get sick on spinnnig rides...namely the Gravitron at most fairs.
Kennyweird
The only one that ever made me sick was, not surprisingly, Mean Streak. That piece of crap gave me a headache and nausea I will never forget.
Rct3man777
Never ever gotten sick on a rollercoaster of vomited. The only time I ever barf is when I'm really really sick.
bflag
I almost got sick the first time I rode X @ SFMM but I ending up being OK now every time I ride X I get a little nervous before boarding....which doesn't happen to me with any other ride. blackjackmark
Is there any medication I can take to prevent me from getting sick? Yes rides make me sick, and yes I still ride! It's "H-E-double hockey sticks" to love something that makes you want to puke! Ask you doctor for a prescription of "Scopace" (scopalamine). It's the same drug that's in the patch that many people use on a cruise, but it's in pill form. Practically NO side effects, other than it gives me HORRIBLE cotton mouth, but it DEFINITELY helps. I've even successfully gone on some spin and pukes and lived to tell the tale! Even with it though, I still have my limits. The Voyage at HW can only be ridden about twice before I need to recover. The Raven I can get in 5-6 rides before feeling like I'm pushing it. The other thing you might consider is avoiding caffeine on ride days. That's definitely had a positive impact on me as well. packfanlv
I typically get motion sickness on most rides although I have never actually vomited. Since I have traveled to a lot more parks this past year, it seems that my body has adjusted and I don't get sick on coasters much anymore. Sometimes though, the feeling gradually builds up during the day and by late afternoon very simple rides can be hard to take. I remember at West Coast Bash last year after riding X and Tatsu a few times during ERT, I couldn't take anymore and had to sit down for half an hour before moving on. The only ride that has ever rendered me sick for the rest of the day was the Rotor at SFMM which gave me a headache that I couldn't shake. (It is gone now right?) Someone mentioned Star Tours. The blurriness of the screen always gets me as well. Titan & Goliath at SFOT and SFMM respectively both made me blackout for a brief amount of time. As much as I love coasters, there is no worse feeling then getting motion sickness in a theme park. To me it feels rather hopeless and depressing. CrysisGuy
I haven't noticed anything like that. An Intamin mega coaster is my fifth milestone coaster on my coaster count list.
Sunfire
Well, I figured since the coaster season is about to begin, I thought a good topic to discuss would be motion sickness. Has anyone here ever had a problem with it while riding roller coasters? I personally never have, but working as a ride operator, it comes up occasionally at my ride (Vekoma Invertigo). Does anyone have any stories to share (not too much explicit details please) to give us a good laugh?
CreditCrazy
This thread was made for me. I get horrible motion sickness. I can't ride a lot of rides back-to-back, I get dizzy after most coasters, I can't really ride anything that spins, and I don't do well with coasters that go backwards either (but this doesn't mean I don't ride anyway ). I take bonine (motion sickness medicine) before I go on long drives and to amusement parks. So far, it has seemed to work pretty well (I've only been taking it a little while) but I'll really know if it works or not at West Coast Bash Funny stories of people throwing up at parks: I can't tell you since I'm too busy throwing up myself. paintballer
Ughh. I only get somewhat sick after riding Titan about 7 times....It's probably cause the g's. I gotta bad headache and light nasuea. I can take most rides muliple times though. Story: I once saw a kid with his head in a trash can..I asked him what he was doing and he was puking OH..and today, me and my friend were on Mr. Freeze, we were talking to this cute chick infront of us, and we were kinda, polite fighting over her. So, I was the better man and let him ride with her. He got back and the chick puked on him! Im glad I let him ride!
coasterdude5
I've heard that roller coasters are less likely to make you sick compared to spinning rides. I get headaches sometimes after riding some coasters, but I've never really gotten motion sickness. I did get a little sick after the Sea Dragon at Libertyland but that was because I hadn't eaten anything all day.
Mr.Six
Story: I once saw a kid with his head in a trash can..I asked him what he was doing and he was puking That story was amazing! There are too many of these dumb threads. All I did was search and look what I found. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43013&highlight=sick Cool huh!? Mochtroid
I got sick on the tumbler at Nick Universe and slightly queasy on the surf rider.
Sir Clinksalot
I've never gotten sick on any ride. The only ride that's ever made me feel like I'm going to be sick is Chaos. I don't know why though. I've gotten the nauseous feeling after riding too many upside-downsy rides in a row, but never actually gotten sick. CoasterNERD502
I felt sick on Penguin's Blizzard River at SFA. Also any teacups ride where the people I ride with make it spin very fast, I get dizzy and feel like I'm about to throw up, its terrible lol
Cygnus12
Swinging ship rides make me nauseous, although I will ride their looping counterparts! I've basically stopped riding normal swinging ship rides altogether. Other than that, I'm fine; only chaining lots of rides together (or just a few certain rides) will make me queasy. Troll
I felt sick after riding megafobia 15 times in a row. Other than that, only one ride has made me feel sick after just one ride - it was a Zamperla Kite Flyer. maybe it was something to do with being face down and spinning
The Disneylander
The only time I've felt slight queasy was on one of those infernal rainbow-colored raft ride thingies from Intamin. Seriously, those things are effing INTENSE.
coastergirl26
The only coaster that ever mad me nauseated(didnt throw up just nauseated) was Borg Assimalator at Carowinds and i think its something to do with Vekomas b/c of returning to the station on your back almost upside down. But it only bothered the first few times I rode it went back again and it didnt bother me at all. I cant handle most spinny rides especially the zipper. alilstronger
Hey Everyone! I did a quick search and I see no threads yet. I LOVE LOVE LOVE flat spinney rides (Tornado, Tea Cups, Hi-Roller, Zipper, Enterprise, Chaos, Power Surge, etc.), my BF on the other hand can not stand getting on more then one in a row or he will get sick. He wants to love these as much as I do and hates that he has to sit them out when we go to parks together. Also he hates that I have to ride alone. Does anyone else here suffer this and maybe takes something for it or wears one of them magnetic bracelets for motion sickness? I want to know if these items work. We are going on the North East Trip next summer and there will be lots of flats he will want to get on. Any help is greatly appreciated!

robbalvey
I've seen a few people wear that patch behind the ear that a lot of people wear on cruise ships as well.
SharkTums
Less Drowsy Dramamine coupled with some soda or coffee works great for me in situations where I get motion sick (planes, boats, etc.)
