Swornenemy Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Man all those new pictures along with the video have me excited. Can't wait until I can get out to cga this summer.
CoasterGiant Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 CoasterGiant, I intended in no way to offend you so if I have I apologize. Like I said, that was an amazing video and some of the shots were really neat and I do think you just might be the first to do this with a coaster.  No offense taken. I guess I should not have jumped on my soapbox. I am glad that my little coaster porn is being so well accepted!  Interesting thought that I might just be the first person to do this sort of thing!
CoasterGiant Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I must say it is so nice to see CF and CGA starting to invest in the park again. There were a couple of years there we were all wondering how long it would be until they closed the gates for good. After seeing the improvements they are making in this off season and the investment in a new MAJOR attraction I have to say I am quite pleased with the direction of the park today! I look forward to seeing what the next few seasons will bring and hope that the park receives the revenue that it deserves. Â I am once again proud to say that CGA is my home park. Â By the way, if you liked the video, show some love on my Coasting for Kids fundraising... www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/andyh/CaliforniasGreatAmerica2013
Angry_Gumball Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Photo from CGA's Instagram, station roof trusses are now up!
SharkTums Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 OMG! A ride at CGA with a roof covering the station!?!?!? FINALLY!!!
Angry_Gumball Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 OMG! A ride at CGA with a roof covering the station!?!?!? FINALLY!!! Â Well, technically there is that other wood structure in the back Don't expect queue shading though. However the late afternoon sun should cast the lift's shadow over the queue. Plus who wouldn't want to be in line with amazing views of the train screaming out of the drop tunnel?
Sunfire Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 OMG! A ride at CGA with a roof covering the station!?!?!? FINALLY!!! Â YES! It's a miracle!!!
154bmag Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 OMG! A ride at CGA with a roof covering the station!?!?!? FINALLY!!! It can't be...or,can it?
vacoaster09 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 And Ouimet said, "Let there be roof" and there was roof! lol   I bet the other coasters are hating on GS.
jray21 Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 That would be hilarious if they just left it like that with no actual roof.
JJnCFL Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Yay, only took 27 years to get another fully covered station roof
CCI Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I know this isn't directly related, but I'm curious as to where the new 49's stadium is to be put in relation to the park?
cmullin Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I know this isn't directly related, but I'm curious as to where the new 49's stadium is to be put in relation to the park? Â I think that is using part of the CGA parking lot that never got used. Correct me if I'm wrong

Correct me if I'm wrong   I had completely forgotten about the stadium's close proximity, do you think it could affect the park in any negative way like lets say... Six Flags AstroWorld and Reliant Park? Just curious...
Swornenemy Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ^i believe the park will be closed on game days for parking reasons. So only for a small amount of time.
Double0Kevin Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Actually they intend to be open from what I understand. They have yet to set up a plan on how that will work though. It was being discussed a little bit the other day at the Gold Striker event but there is nothing close to an answer yet.
Swornenemy Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ^will be interesting to see the parking situation if it is open. Cause parking at candlestick park is packed, the main lot and all surrounding lots are packed during games. Would be smart to put more parking garages around.
cmullin Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Yeah if they close the park on the game days it would hurt their business since it would be 7 or 8 Sundays.
Swornenemy Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ^probably only about half that. Really depends on how many home games there would be during that time of year. I would imagine that the team and cga have something worked out.

Here's another example of how close it is to the park. This picture was taken right next to the reflection pool just inside the main gate.
JJnCFL Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ^will be interesting to see the parking situation if it is open. Cause parking at candlestick park is packed, the main lot and all surrounding lots are packed during games. Would be smart to put more parking garages around. The park will still be open even during game days and other events that coincide, there's no way they'd give up that revenue. The new parking garage that's across the street from the stadium just opened recently, and there's another parking garage behind the Convention Center. Also they are currently re-configuring the parking lot and will soon be relocating the Tasman substation on the far corner of the lot that will give way for even more spaces. Also the businesses around the area may rent out their parking lots as well. There's plenty of room as well across the stadium where they can build more parking garages/lots if needed. And also don't forget about public transportation; light rail runs right through the area where you can connect to Mountain View CalTrain & the future Milpitas BART station, and Amtrak/Capitol Corridor is a short walk away.
Double0Kevin Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 I was looking at google maps. If the dedicated the Premium parking area and the parking lot closest to Great America Parkway (the the left of the exit road when leaving) for CGA guests and then the main lot plus the parking garage(s) for 49ers. It could probably work, albeit cramped. Also, since the games are on a Sunday, maybe CGA can work out using the Prudential parking structures despite their strained relationship.
