Double0Kevin
^ The difference is that the Maverick tunnel is built as it's own structure around a steel track where as Gold Striker's is attached to the actual ride structure. It's going to have a lot more movement in it that aren't likely going to allow flickering lanterns to safely survive in the tunnel. Roar's standard lift lights used to go out all the time because the bulbs with shake loose or shatter from all the shaking in the structure. I could maybe see some themed lanterns at the entrance to the tunnel, but once inside I'm sure it will be just wood. I always thought the current paint job was on purpose seeing as it's called the 'Sky' Tower. It's actually called the "Star" Tower, hence the stars. I personally think the current paint job is just fine. It's better than the plain white that it used to be.
DCA_Chris
It's actually called the "Star" Tower Wow when did they change it? I'm guessing the same year as the Flight Deck/Drop Tower name changes? I think that was the last year I went to the park.
Double0Kevin
They changed it when they repainted it. The park was still PGA. I want to say 2003?

I would go with a method that uses LED technology or some sort of optics. I would most likely fix the light units in the triangule corners of the arch way that way they move as one with the structure (nothing dangling and nothing that would create a moment arm). However, if they are trying to just accomplish a pitch black effect then none of this lighting talk is worth discussing.
Mr.Roller77
Tunnels are better when it's pitch black, and you don't know what the ride is going to do next! For example, the Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze Park in Rochester, New York.. It's a classic old woodie, not very tall, but that unexpected drop inside a tunnel adds an extra thrill to the ride. I'm certain Gold Striker will be quite thrilling with a pitch black tunnel!

Randomman295
^^I'm seeing tons of great pictures of the lift hill and first drop, but what about the rest of the ride? Have they not done any new construction on the rest of the ride?
JRHcoasterki
^The rest of the ride is done???
Swornenemy
All they are working on now is the station and transfer track. The ride itself is complete.
Randomman295
^Any good places to find pictures that you know of?
Double0Kevin
^ Half the brake run, the transfer station and turn into the station are not yet done. Look a few pages back at the pictures GCI uploaded. So the track isn't complete just yet, but close.

Mr.Roller77
Just fantastic, at this rate, the coaster will be ready for testing by April!
Swornenemy
Might be ready sooner. Only a little bit left, the station and brake run should go up fast. Hoping they put out a pov of the test runs.
Intimidator305
I don't think this has been posted, so if it has, my apologies... Anyways, CGA has put up the 2013 park map, including GoldStriker, on their website. I was shocked to see it is still a Paramount-type map as I was expecting it to be 'converted' this season since it is the only lasting Paramount park map of the existing Paramount Parks. I'm glad to see they put the tunnel on the ride!
XYZ
I'm SO glad they kept the Paramount map and didn't convert into that pathetic CF style park map. I thought they would convert it with Gold Striker. Also, it looks crazy seeing the 2013 map with Gold Striker on it. As many have said in the past, it looks surreal. I think it is funny how they show a pathway leading to the Pictorium. Heck, I wonder why they didn't take the Pictorium off the map.
Angry_Gumball
I, too, also like the Paramount-style (Citigraph) map over CF's 'Rocko's Mosern Life' maps, a little bit more realistic if you can call it that
Koasterking48
Holiday World also uses this style of map. It's very nice compared to the other CF's.

I too agree that Citigraph's maps are much more realistic than CF's. A CP Citigraph map would look amazing.

I've got my fingers crossed that it'll be open in mid-May. Not being impatient, just that that's when I'll get the chance to visit and wait in a ridiculously long line for the new ride. Are CGA doing Fast Lane again this year? Seems to have disappeared from their site.
