Double0Kevin
^ Pretty sure they are laying new asphalt. They were ripping a bunch of the existing lot out last when I was there a few weeks ago, definitely more than slurry.
#1rollercoasterfan
I am thinking of going on Easter. Is that a bad idea? Which day of opening weekend would be the quietest Fri, Sat, or Sun?
Andrewoplis
^I've found Sundays to be the quietest of those days at any park.
Angry_Gumball
Not sure how Easter will be but I have a feeling it should be pretty quiet. I can assume many people are going to be at church and visiting family, doing their traditional Easter festivities. Sundays in general are always better than Saturdays, even during the summer! I've done both and Sundays are much more manageable.
#1rollercoasterfan
All right I'll go on Easter sounds good. Going too early in the season is a little hard for me because Boomerang Bay & Gold Striker aren't open yet but I have been itching & scratching to go on a coaster. Might as well go. It will be worth it to get on a coaster finally. Free parking at the Caltrain station Sundays is nice. I was worried it might be crowded because it's a holiday but after reading your replies I guess it will be fine. & I've been a little worried about my Season Pass. How come the front is orange colored like the Halloween Haunt colors?(I really dislike the orange colors!) I got it at the end of last season -rest of 2012 free & good for 2013. I won't have any trouble getting in this year?
robman
^As long as the bar code scans and it works you're good. That whole weekend should be dead since most people don't visit early in the season, after Spring Break I imagine the crowds will pick up. I won't have any trouble getting in this year? Â I wouldn't sweat it on what your pass looks like. They seem to reuse the same designs each year and there seems to be a couple variations. Here are my 2 passes, the one on bottom I used for 3 seasons (renewed it, using same card). It finally got a crack in it so I was able to get a new card (which has a different design). They are still using the other design as well. Â And what Robman said. Early in the season is dead. Spring break picks up a bit but it's still manageable (to me anyway). Things can definitely change once Gold Striker opens. I am however now used to a crowded CGA (Haunt visits late in season) though I prefer light crowds
#1rollercoasterfan
There's a pic of my pass I got towards the end of last season. The orange color just makes me nervous about using it this year even though it included the rest of 2012 & all of this year. The bar code on the back is completely readable. & My name is signed. & How soon will the new movie go in?
JJnCFL
And it's about time they re-do the parking lot. I'm hoping they re-configure it rather than just re=pave it. Was never a huge fan of the layout. It was always a mess trying to leave the park especially when everyone is leaving at the same time. During the special tour 2 weeks ago, one of the managers mentioned the lot is getting completely reconfigured, instead of vertical rows, they will now be be horizontal rows for better navigation and a new exit path. Â Speaking of passes, I found my old CF/CGA passes through the years, including the Cedar Fair Maxx Pass (Remember those?). I also noticed the different variations of the gold pass that keep getting reused, you'd think they'd stick with one design to be more consistent, but nitpicking aside can't believe we're two weeks away from opening day! robman
Stopped by real quick this afternoon to check on Gold Striker, seems like not too much work has been done on the tunnel but the station is now up and it has a roof! Also looks like the rest of the transfer building should be going up soon. Part of the parking lot has been repaved, there is still some areas that need to be done but it's looking nice! Couple workers down by the wood. Roof!
Angry_Gumball
Awesome! Â Riding Roar today only got me more excited for Goldy! While it was rough I visioned going down the tunnel.
jray21
Riding Roar today only got me more excited for Goldy! While it was rough I visioned going down the box. Â Fixed. Â I'm really excited to have a nice and smooth brand new wooden coaster near me! Can't wait for it to finish. It's looking like it'll be a fun ride. Double0Kevin
Ugh, My excitement for Gold Striker has turned into major disappointment. Not in the ride, but in the fact that I'm moving out of state right before it opens and have no idea when I'll be back to ride it. It looks like so much fun and even the tunnel is growing on me. Angry_Gumball
Of course I keep running into Gold Striker references in everyday things. At Black Angus last night (after our SFDK run) I immediately notice this on the menu (no I didn't try it out). Gold Strike® anyone?
