spaceace12
I don't believe the coasters were ever assembled.
montezooma
I believe those coaster pieces were from Opryland's Wabash Cannonball and Chaos and also the Black Widow from Riverside (SFNE)
mcjaco
At SFGAm, they turned one of the Sky Ride stations into a Funnel Cake place. The queue is also there. We also have TrailBlazer's remains in Southwest Territory. That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure be plenty of remains in County Fair this year with the departure of Splashwater Falls and Deja Vu. Â I want to say the other end of the skyway was the building which housed the entrance to Shockwave, which is now the entrance to Superman:UF. I hate skyrides, so I don't recall exactly. There were still footers from The Edge and Powerdive a couple of years ago, I'm not sure if they're still there when King Chaos went in. Â And of course, there's Iron Wolf's station and queue. It was Z-Force's station and queue before that. They didn't change a thing when Iron Wolf went in. Right down to the way the track goes over the queue before the stairs up to the station. Â Phew. I've dated myself.
SFGAm Shock Wave
^ Oh yeah, I forgot about the Edge footers. The Delta Flyer station no longer exists. It was demolished to make way for the Bayern Kurve, and later Condor.
cedarpointfangirl
^Part of the trough for the Haunted River ride is still there (just to the left as you face Volcano). The old Smurf train station is still there, too (you can get a good look at it from Avalanche's lifthill). Â Â I would love to get back to the park to see them. Haunted River was great, I loved the ending with the big drop.
Coasterlvr_nc
At Carowinds one of the two stations is still standing from the skyride. If you go into the boardwalk "area" of the park (near Ricochet) you'll find the shark hanging from the scale. Just above that is the station for the skyway. Â When I last went to KD i also saw the Haunted River and the station for the smurf ride. However, im not sure if I was just seeing things, but I believe you can see part of the track while in line for the front row of volcano if you turn around and look back at the mountain about 10 feet up. Tömmioh
Abandoned amusement parks are cool, there's generally something quite compelling and fascinating about them (as well as some abandoned houses and buildings imo). It would be nice to see more of them as I haven't really seen any 'proper' ones live, hopefully I'll find one in Slovakia, in about a month. bobafett
^^Darksin, I don't know what the plans are for the Golden Nugget right now, I hope that they do reopen it.I remember seeing that on their website and taking the poll also. It needs alot of work and restoration and I believe they said it might cost too much money to fix up, we can only hope for the best.Right now the Morey's family is in the process of building a new coaster set to open up in 2009 or 2010 or 2011,I'm really not sure what year it is, but it will span between 2 piers, one of the piers is where the Golden Nugget is located. A indoor waterpark that will be open year round is also under construction and set to open in late 2009 early 2010 on the boardwalk.
csikoth
Go to either Surf Cincinnati which is an abandoned water park , Lesourdsville Lake has the Screechin Eagle which is deterioating probably at a good rate. A Shame for a good wooden coaster.
Astat
Having been to Cedar Point pretty much every year since 1993, I've gotten to see a lot of evolution in the park, and there's a couple things that fall into this category that I can think of: Â -One of the old buildings from Jungle Larry's Safari was turned into a gift shop, it was called Power Station (Power Tower-themed) for a while after that, now it's themed to Top Thrill Dragster. It's easily noticeable though, it's octagon-shaped and still has the jungle-style roof on top. Â -The ride was before my time, but one of the stations for the Frontier Lift is still standing, it's a now a bathroom back by Snake River Falls. You can still see the ramps leading up either side of the building, and the openings where the cars came in/out are now shuttered. I think the other station was where the Coasters restaurant is now. Â -When they converted Berenstein Bear Country into Peanuts Playground, they didn't do a whole lot of retheming. One thing that I always laughed at was that they simply chopped the top themed part off of the Spooky Old Tree (which was essentially a playground slide) and left the rest of it unchanged. This is now gone with the addition of Planet Snoopy though. Â And of course, most recently, the former White Water Landing station was converted into part of the queue for Maverick...there may be a couple more that I'm forgetting too. Darksin
^ Bobafett  AUGH! Wildwood is going to be chaos this year with them doing all the work over there! At leas the double pier coaster sounds rather cool, will probably be one heck of a sight to see when it's done. I'd heard rumors of the waterpark but nothing solid until now. Haven't really kept up much with whats been going on since we move.  Will have to check that out this summer!
bobafett
^The waterparks just got some nice touch ups and they will be opening up that indoor waterpark next year. It will really change the way WildWood looks.
OldJJman
At King's Island, Vortex's station used to be the station for the long gone Bat. Â If someone has a close-up pic of the station, you can see where the trains enter and exit, that there are cut-outs for the inverted track on top. Â Â Â Also, at Disneyland, in the gift shop for Buzz, an actual Peoplemover train was incorporated into the one of the cash register tables. I don't remember if it was there for Rocket Rods or not. Â Not to mention the three heads (Maxx, ? and ?) from Country Bear Jamboree, are still visible in the Winnie-the-Poop ride.

Token Yankee Guy
SFNE doesn't really have any old infrastructure of rides laying around. I know the old monorail station was enclosed and the tall building the track went through, that still stands. But other than that, they've been good at clearing the land or replacing the ride so you cannot recognized what used to be in it's place. When they demolished the log flume and built Splash Water Falls, the area was unrecognizable. Â But as for abandoned parks, there's one not too far from my house, Mountain Park. As of the end of 2006 or so the area has gotten bulldozed. Â I did take some pictures (and a piece of the coaster) when I was last there. Â I got a huge interest in abandoned parks and how parks changed overtime.
Sgt. Fox
I've also always wanted to explore the abandoned Disney Pop Century Legendary Years resort at WDW. Creepy! Â
astroworldfan1
^ Oh wow. That's kinda creepy! Is it still there??? It's unusual of Disney not to finish building something they started. Â -Tatum
Sgt. Fox
Yeah, it's still there. They stopped building it when 9/11 happened and the tourism industry temporarily went down the crapper. Â The Abandoned River Country water park is also cool. Â Satellite View of Abandoned River Country
astroworldfan1
River Country did look pretty cool! Exept, the water is a little green. It's so not Disney to see something not finsihed or torndown. Â -Tatum
andy_e219
This park isn't really abandoned, but at Cascade Park north of Pittsburgh PA, you can see lots of remains of the park that once was there. The amusment rides closed in 1981, and sience then it has been a community park. You can still find most of the supports to the coaster, along with many other buildings from the old park. BRTeller
I've also always wanted to explore the abandoned Disney Pop Century Legendary Years resort at WDW. Creepy! Â Thats what that was, I remember last time we decided to stay there, and I looked across and was like whats that building. That's interesting. I loved the looks of the resort, but we should have went with are member club rooms.
jedimaster1227
New photos of the state of the former Nara Dreamland Park in Japan as of 2008 (that crazy-awesome knock-off park that Robb and Elissa visited back in 2004, seen here) have surfaced at the Urban Exploration Resource Forum here: Â http://www.uer.ca/forum_showthread_archive.asp?threadid=59791
jedimaster1227
Anyone remember Disney's River Country? The first water park to be built as a part of the Walt Disney World Resort opened in 1976 and closed in late 2001. Since that time, the park has been left to rot, away from the general view of guests, most of whom unaware that such a place ever existed. Slowly nature is reclaiming the remains of the former water park. Â Disney has put out a Notice of Commencement that work will begun on the nature trail leading to River Country (presumably to stop anyone from getting close to the place anymore), found here: http://or.occompt.com/recorder/eagleweb/downloads/20100083158.pdf?parent=DOC546S21112&id=DOC546S21112.A0 Â A reader of the Disboards was also able to explore the park and document the state of the former venue. I have selected some photos from the report, but go ahead and visit this link if you'd like to see every photo.
cfc
Looks like a great set for a SyFy channel horror flick. This setting cries out for a gang of college students, a big hockey-mask-wearing dude with a machete, and maybe even a Mega-Shark or Supergator.
