Wow! this thread is to coasters what the Library of Congress is to historical documents - I've been quite literally spending days and hours going thru all of the stuff you have here. Thanks for sharing all of this awesome stuff!

I agree, there is a lot of pressure for the admins here to keep the site secure/backed up/etc if only to insure that nothing happens to this thread! It's quite a read - with a lot of unique-to-the-Net stuff!

Would be fascinated to hear if you have any more "inside baseball" info on the final of the THREE original Great Americas (that, obviously, never came to fruition in the DC area)? Would have been really neat to see how that park would have evolved in comparison to what we know about the CA and IL parks!

Wow. That is some incredible presentation. I dig the 50s-themed area, Mysterious Island and you have to love the Gary Goddard-created Captain Power inclusion.

Sure, some of this is not quite as unique as AeroWorld would have been, but still, the scope is impressive.

This thread is PIMP.

Its not SD just cancelling theme parks, they also like to make it very hard for the attractions that do exist to expand or add anything of significance....case in point, Seaworld has spent FOREVER to try and get a new coaster, and finally got Manta, in which major restrictions were placed upon.

As the today "big" parks are around since the 50s in the US and the 70s in europe they had enough time to add and add more fun over the years. If you want to open a new park to rival the "old" ones you need an enormous investment...

From my location major new resorts are announced to be built at Warsawa, Poland and in Andalus, Spain - the later one by Paramount Parks - lets see if this projects will be made....

It's interesting how many communities make it so hard for parks to expand. Many times the parks were there long before the towns built up around them. You should know what your getting into when you move in next to a park.

^ This. It's a lot easier to relocate a house than an amusement park. Plus, I have to think that having a park like this would be great for the economy/tourism in the area.

This looks so cool, and I agree with whoever said that it would rival Disneyland. I would love to see another heavily-themed park come to California, but I doubt we'll see anything for years to come.

Do you know why this never happened?

Now had time to go through this whole post with all the marvelous stuff inside.

Big thanks!

@Intamin Flight Trainer

There was one years ago in germany on the carnival circuit. It had open, non-revolving capsules that could go up about 105 degrees. A quite boring ride after you got into the controls....

@Bembom Brothers Park

That looks like an american version of Attractiepark Slagharen in the Netherlands. They still have a Looping Star and Weber Traumboot - but their Schwarzkopf Apollo was converted in a chainswinger....

Also love all the Schwarzkopf stuff - we still have a lot of his rides here in germany but as you said as negative point on the Shuttle Loop: Not enough installations....

@gisco

But the same is true with airports. When they opened they were on the green fields way out of the city - now the city has expanded around the airport and poeple start protesting about noise. Well, then don't move near an airport I always say....

Well I am back from exploring the Caribbean Seas with the TPR group and what a great time we had. I won't bore you with all my "salty sea tales" but rather let you read about them on the thread specifically dedicated to that trip...however here is one quick shot of me and Sage enjoying the Jamaican Bobsled...that ride is one "Fluffy Diva"

So on with another update. This time I have an old ride catalog from Vekoma. It features the infamous tilt, or as they call it, "Thrill Lift" coaster.

How could I not include the most successful ride in Vekoma's catalog...the BOOMERANG

I'm thinking the Thrill Lift didn't catch on due to too many "what if's" and the mechanics behind the lift mechanism.

Don't know how they could classify their Flying Dutchman's as a "Family Flying Coaster" as they are not even close to being a family ride.

Despite it being a flipped photo it's nice to see a pic of the Geauga Lake Mind Eraser/Head Spin.
