^Spots depend on how many deposits R & E receive. Trips will never exceed 100 participants.

How many parks is it now on the East Coast Trip that are opening new roller coasters next year? 6?

 

Six Flags New England (Batman Dark Knight)

Six Flags Great Adventure (Batman Dark Knight)

Hersheypark (Fahrenheit)

Knoebels (Flying Turns)

Dorney Park (Voodoo)

and probably Kings Dominion (Dominator)

 

Add that to the fact that Busch Gardens just added Griffon, this trip gets better and better. Great choices and timing there R & E.

I've got a question and I don't think it has been asked before, but if it has, please call me a Donkey all you want and tell me which page it was on, okay?

 

Well, I am an 18 year old from the US, and as you can see, have not posted a whole lot on this site.

 

My plan was to do a TPR trip next year for a couple reasons: To meat other cool enthusiasts, and enjoy a stress free trip (which I can't seem to accomplish when I have to plan my own trips).

 

I sort of decided to do the Texas one, but now that it is cancelled, it looks like the next best possibility is the Euro one (which has better coasters anyway) considering I live on the east coast and have been to most of those parks.

 

My question is, as a 19 year old next year, will it probably be hard for me to fit in with the general demographics of the group? Basically, do any people my age do the Europe trips? I have seen young lots of pics of young people on the Midwest, but few and far between in Spain and UK.

 

So thanks, and again, if I am just asking a repeated question, just guide me to where the answer is!!

I thought i'd put my two cents in here because i was in exactly the same position as you leading up to the Spain trip. I was worried about the general age of the group and weather i'd fit in with all these people who seem to know each other so well and I assumed wouldn't have time for anyone else.

 

Thankfully i was wrong, everyone was really nice and accepting. I didn't feel the fact that I was 17 held me back or stopped me from getting along with anyone on the trip. Like Larry said, it's more to do with your maturity than your age...

 

I had a great time on the Spain trip despite there being very few people my age. It really was a fantastic group socially, so I wouldn't be worried in the least about the age of people on the trip

 

But just incase you are worried, assuming I get on the Euro trip, i'll be 18 then so at least there's one person your age!

We're planning on sending the money in soon... hopefully the spots don't fill up. It all depends on how quickly the Army sends me my money. I'll be in basic and AIT from Oct 24th to mid May, so it'd be a nice "welcome back to civilian life" thing, lol.

I have always travelled alone to visits parks, no one wants to go with me... so it will be a whole new experience for me, can't wait to go to Europe with others like me, maybe I let my self go? who knows? haha

When do the medical release and waiver have to be in by?

As the America trip will still be a month away from my 18th birthday, I'm assuming I have to send one? Correct?

So, I'll be 19 next summer, with 2 years of college under my belt, I think I'll get along fine.

Excellent - although its great to go with a bunch of people with mixed experiences (and some that know it all - go Elissa & Robb (nutbags)) loads of people, like myself get to coaster whore loads and experience all of this with likewise nutbags in training.

I've had to do far to much of this myself. Its loads better with a few people so imagine what loads of enthusiasts will be like

 

Apart from one Walibi (not even a Disneyland) I've never set foot out of my home country, who else will this all be new too?

My take on going totally solo instead of group touring, in parks. IMhO.

 

 

I have had years and years and (sob) YEARS of solo-going experience. My huz David isn't really into all of this - except he has enjoyed DLPR in all of our past visits - with coaster riding and all. So I have had to do it all, mainly on my own, thru most of the parks I have past visited. By myself and on my own. Until last year...

 

That is when I took My Very First Ever Tour Group trip - yes, the TPR UK Tour in June, 2006 was my very first tour ever, of any kind/type - I was scared to death that I couldn't or wouldn't "connect" with anybody in the group, not fit in - at - all... it's pretty daunting when you are (then) 53 yrs.old and getting ready to tour with peeps mostly in their mid-30s...or younger. Not all of them that young, of course. But still...

 

Well, the tour went fine, I did okay, I made some new touring buds, and then this year's Japan Tour knocked out any doubts or (not too) serious concerns I had about touring with people, in groups, etc.

 

And hey - I did even tour solo on a couple of the tour dates, including a marvelous final day at Tokyo Disney Sea. Ran into several of the guys throughout the park - but it was great going at my own pace, with familiar (and just past) experience and territory to enjoy, heh heh.

 

A TPR Group Tour is an amazing and sometimes eye-opening experience. Not to mention all those parks, coasters and (sometimes, yes!) scenery & culture you get as an added BONUS on the tour, lol.

 

You can still go solo several times during any of these tours. Nobody is forcing you to buddy-up etc. Only sharing a hotel room does help in your travel savings, lol. And actually would help get you started on getting to know another TPR tour-er (hey John/UK and Shane/Japan!)

Wood Dragon - there were at least a half dozen university age people on the Spain Trip that fit in fine with the 30-40 year olds.

 

Maturity level is more of an indicator if you will fit in than age.

Besides maturity - good hygiene also helps one fit in. Maturity and Hygiene are good things.

Dumb question but when it says Double Occupancy thing, does that mean its like 2000 for two people or still 2000 each? I am confused on that.

Hey, specifically what days are you going to Hershey and Dorney? I can't go on the trip for many reasons (expenses and lack of family coaster enthusiasm the main reasons), but you are going roughly the same time I am going to those parks, so maybe I can do a "non extra stuff" meet up. Also, are you visiting any parks in New York State? If you are, or if someone on the trip is planning to do a New York State bonus trip, can you tell me when, so I can also possibly meet up there?
