Scaparri
^No kidding! My girl loves coasters and parks, but she's by no means an enthusiast. She's still a blast to go to parks with though. And I can tell that she's slowly getting more and more interested in it, since it's such a big hobby of mine. But at the same time, I don't fill her with stupid facts. I might say a random fact about a ride, but for the most part, I try to keep it interesting and at a minimal. You don't have to have a girl that can shoot the poop with you about coasters just to have fun with her at a park. And yeah, she freakin' loves water parks. nyanko
This is a male dominated hobby, and the females are generally older and/or married. And whatever women I have seen on forums, they were either older and/or married. Actually I was more into coasters when I was around your age, YOUNGEN, and have "grown out of it" for the most part. Still enjoy going and riding but I don't keep up with the "community" or the coaster news much anymore. I just want to know why anyone is actually posting in this guy's thread with serious answers
Vekoma Fan Boy
Why does she need to be obsessed? I think as long as she enjoys them then you can be pretty well set... as long as you don't push it too much.I've never met a girl who didn't at least like waterparks! QFT But seriously, they are out there, they like coasters. It is just a matter of finding someone with a similar intrest. Hell, I've seen quite a few in my limited lifetime. Carnage
I'd rather date someone who likes theme parks, but isn't obsessed. Why date someone exactly like myself? That'd be boring.
CoasterFanatic
^ That is pretty much what I have. Catrina likes parks and she loves to travel but is NOT the biggest coaster fan in the world. Most enthusiasts would cringe at the credits she has passed up.
shesaidboom
I have a vagina and I enjoy a good "roller coaster". I'm also not old or married. I wasn't pushed into this coaster stuff, I loved coasters as a kid, but I didn't really travel to parks until my now boyfriend, then best friend, planned a trip to Cedar Point. And there it began..again. It's not the focal point of our relationship and it's not the only thing we have in common. We also like sex! Many girls would like going to parks, you don't necessarily need one who's obsessed with them. It's one thing to have standards, but to force a potential girlfriend to fit your specific guidelines and hobbies is going to leave you lonely and desperate for the rest of your life..especially if you're ugly. Being lonely, desperate, and ugly for the rest of my life? Sign me up! Yeah, I'm in a similar situation to what other people here have described. My wife likes to come along on trips and ride coasters and what not. But she's not exactly what you'd call an enthusiast. I've educated her a bit on the various coaster types, manufacturers, etc. And she never turns down a credit, even though she hates Vekoma as much as I do. She knows I'd never let her hear the end of it if I had more credits than she did.
ghost007jas
I honestly couldn't care less about dating a girl who is obsessed with coasters like me. If she does thats fantastic, but if not there are *shock* other things to do on dates other than going to amusement parks.

bulldogmom
I also have wondered why there seem to be more male coaster and park enthusiasts than female. It's not really logical- fun is not specific to gender. I had a boyfriend once who loved coasters as much as I do- we travelled all over going to numerous parks, and we had similar taste in coasters and other rides. If your mate likes something that you don't, sometimes you just go along to please them. For example, this one raced motorcycles, which was as noisy as it was boring to watch- but I went with him. Okay, I whined about it, but I went. We need to start some kind of singles coaster-lover dating service. People could place ads- for instance, mine would say: SWF age 37 Turn-ons: younger men, Vekoma Boomerangs, Ferris Wheels Turn-offs: Rude drivers, headbanging coasters, spinny rides. arrowfanman
I dont see why you would want a coaster-obsessive chick, for that matter. That's called competition. For example... -"Hey baby--the water on Pirates of the Caribbean is 2 feet deep." -"Actually, that's a common misunderstanding. The water actually averages out at about 2'4"." -"I hate you." Or... -"Hey, do you wanna go wait for (insert coaster here). -"Erm, no, not really. I already have that credit." See my point? Am I allowed to have an opinion about this? Anyway, I think what you should look for is a chick who likes theme parks and doesn't mind your obsessiveness. -Jahan

307
Yeah my girlfriend has more credits than me despite me being a coaster freak for longer. It has been a source of jealousy since I found out. I'll get even with her this year though!
BeemerBoy
Regardless of any differences of opinions in parks or coasters, there is one constant in our marriage. If Shannon ever asks to join ACE, I ask for a divorce. Luckily, I'll never have to worry about that though. She's MUCH smarter than that.

kelly06
Both me and my boyfriend like coasters. I've only liked them for a year though, and im not quite as obsessive as him. He wants to go to as many parks as possible, no matter the cost. Sometimes it gets a bit boring, i mean i like coasters and themeparks, but i'd like to go to other places aswell, that don't mess up my hair..... only joking. Nahh they do exist, most people like coasters, but i dont think girls get that obsessed with them, if that makes sense
slick858
Alright I am back in town and now able to elaborate on this Post. For some this may be hard to take but my Interest is not JUST coasters and FAR FROM IT ( see Below ) as one member said that males are single focused and females like to get the full spectrum of the social circuit, so this is not the problem in my case. I am not trying to find competition as one member said,Wow that would be right the opposite of a good thing, not getting to ride certain coasters cause they have already checked it off and gotten credit! I am just trying to speak my mind in the RANDOM section of this virtual hideout; for people who enjoy the same thing as I do. This thread is not misguided, just speaking about theme parks and relationships for my first post. You got to start somewhere beemerboy!! Okay, I've read through this several times now, and forgive me if I'm off base here, but all this is is a random misguided rant....and as your first post too. For starters, "This needs to change,"yeah, I'm sure your future girlfriends would be delighted to hear this tone. Good luck searching for "Mrs. Perfect" with that attitude. LOL, my attitude I wish you knew me. downunder
I couldn't imagine any girl I've been with being into coasters, it's just not seen as cool. I'm just not bursting to talk about coasters anyway, so I don't mention it. In fact, coaster enthusiasm is a sure fire path to ridicule outside of coaster circles. I just sneak off overseas and get in some rides, and don't really tell anyone what I'm doing, albeit the majority of my travel in the past has been spent doing non coaster things. It will be interesting to see how I go on the midwest trip, I've never nothing but parks for so many days in a row.

terrancew_hod
^^^So exactly what are you looking for besides someone who likes coasters? But I'll tell ya something. It's about the "This has got to change statement." If you're still single and hating it, then it comes back to that statement. If I've learned anything through life, it's is the only thing we can change in our world is ourselves. So if the wrong people or loves are showing up in your life constantly, then you may want to stop for a sec and look inside. I had to do it and wrote my memoirs as I looked at myself. I saw things that I was doing and made an effort to change. Guess what? As soon as I did, somebody really nice and special showed up. And they like exercising and coasters as a bonus. Downunder, not bursting at the seams to talk about coasters huh? Well you're going into the belly of the beast in a few days! I know after day 5 the "credit" talk is probably to drive me nuts! For me it's vacation where I'm disconnected from anything work-related, not an extended credit run. Terry
