I think this ride concept, provided by Stanley J. Checketts (co-founder of S&S), definitely belongs to this thread, as it would totally put the horrific

to shame!

How so?

First, step into this ball...

Here's the ride all in once. Your ball is the tiny n°20!

And then... KABOOM! You're launched straight up in the air! With nothing, no rails, no cables, no towers!

444.thumb.png.72625618b9b4ab1a34573134e61430af.png

Finally, you fall back into "nothing but a net"!

Isn't that totally crazy?! Would you dare riding it?? I'm not quite sure how feasible it is (what about the wind?), but considering what S&S have done in the past... Remember the Sonic Boom? That drop tower where you enter a tube that slows you down by the air pressure.

Read the full patent to see more details about that... is that a "ride" anymore?

I had a crazy idea come to mind yesterday. Since both Mr. Freezes got turned backwards in 2012, I think it would be pretty crazy (however likely) for Six Flags to turn Poltergeist and Joker's Jinx backwards. That would be a pretty twisted, insane ride. For some reason, I see Six Flags doing this at some point or another.

With what has been going on around Joker's Jinx recently, I can't imagine SF investing much in a PR nightmare. Now if Batman & Robin the Chiller were still around...

This looks like a much more realistic version of the Schwarzkopf one.

Well that would be quite the ultimate experience. Yeah, I'm not sure about how the wind would affect it either.

Here's an idea that I've envied for quite a while: a spinning coaster that has multiple major inversions... and by multiple, I don't mean Veil of Dark at Tokyo Joyopolis, which does invert, but it's only a measly inline twist. I mean fully inverting, while still primarily a spinning coaster.

Why hasn't Gerstlauer done that? Given their pedigree for crazy rides, I'd imagine that be right up their alley. Just imagine how crazy it would be to go upside down while you can't even control your direction. I can try and replicate that feeling by changing the type of coasters in NoLimits to the model, but I wanna do it in real life.

Not sure if anything like this has been posted before, but I think this would be a must-ride coaster.

Four words:

RMC or Intamin Prefab.

Crystal.

Beach.

Cyclone.

Clicky

Of course, some adjustments to decrease pain would be necessary, but if a park opened its own version of (arguably) one of the most legendary rides of all time, they could potentially have a Top 10 wooden coaster on their hands.

EDIT: Well, there was an ancient thread that mentioned the idea (http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=551), but I think it could stand to be mentioned again.

Fixed!

Even more fixed

To be honest though Crystal Beach Cyclone looks more like a GCI thing; heck, they have similar trains. RMC could do it as well though; their layouts can be quite twisty. The one I have my doubts on is Intamin; I dunno why but every time I think of Intamin woodies I think of straight drops, though that might be a small sampling of their woodies.

As for crazy ideas, I want to see a Chance-Morgan hyper mine train.

A 500-foot roller coaster (lift hill) that is over 10,000 feet in length with multiple airtime hills, over banked curves, low to the ground turns, and helices. Basically a longer, taller, and faster Fury 325.

Posted

^I'm still waiting for a hyper/giga (or even strata) looping coaster. A 200 ft + loop would look astonishing!

Posted

^Plus it would allow for plenty of inversions (maybe even a record) without having two lifts or 1000 barrel rolls. It could break the record almost without having to repeat any.

Relocate Silver Bullet @ Knott's to anywhere it would look less out of place.

This would help Knott's significantly re-build that section of the park.

That would be so cool. It could also have 2-3 MCBRs, allowing 5-6 full-sized trains to run without any major stacking. Not to mention, it could very likely break the length record.

I could only imagine the cost of a ride like that though, especially if it was by B&M.

Posted

^Yeah, it would be pricey. I think about it so often that I already have a layout in mind with 16 inversions. I also thought that if it had like a 400 ft tall drop it could become the world's steepest drop with normal sized trains. That would still mean a lot of ejector air, though

I had an idea for a new game stall. I just found those random videos showing a laser gun... that can shoot balloons! I immediately thought that we could make a terrific "next-gen" stall out of it! The laser is only a diode from a blu-ray disc burner, so it's not expensive or rocket-science at all, and the effect is amazing. See:

Ok, if you don't like my game stall (boohoo ), here is a new crazy idea, but this time, coming from a real patent. I think its title says it all: Amusement park with rides conveying park-goers in their own motor vehicles. That's right. A theme park that you visit staying in your own car, even for the rides and roller coasters!! I mean, WHAT?!

I kind of made a rumor about Six Flags buying back Darien Lake from CNL and I thought to myself "What if it acutely happened?"

To answer my own question about Six Flags buying back Darien Lake, Ride of Steel would have Superman back or be renamed "Bizarro", Six Flags would add a Super Loop ride in where UFO was, the water park would renamed "Hurricane Harbor: Six Flags Darien Lake", Motocoaster would be sent to Great Escape and be replaced with a Pandemonium or Superman: Ultimate Flight (SFDK) clone called "Batman: The Ride", and also new water slide would be put in where 'Cuda Falls was.

So I had a thought. If Maximum RPM! is being relocated to Asia, what would it be themed to? The answer is, Pizza! The wheel would look like a pizza and the holes for the track will be the pepperoni.

Posted

I just had a thought, if Maximum RPM is going to be relocated to Darien Lake, they could make an expansion of Rowdy's Ridge and include Thunder Rapids, Shipwreck Falls, Haymaker, and a rethemed Maximum RPM to something that more country/wodsy like "Rodeo Roundabout". The wheel can look like lasso and track can look like a country dirt road and it would be heavily wooded with tons of trees and they can use the old Barracuda Bay bunny house is the station for it.

If the Led Zepplin/Time Machine coaster is going to be relocated to Darien Lake, they can put in where 'Cuda Falls was and call it "Barracuda"!

What if Roar at Six Flags America is demolished and makes way for an RMC woodie? They are all about getting used coasters from Six Flags Great America, so why not get their own RMC like Great America does? They have plenty of land between Superman and Roar, so if they take away Roar they have enough for an RMC.

They could build a new, taller, airtime filled first half in the space by superman, and have it connect to the existing layout afterwards, with topper track and higher speeds.
