On Screamscape it says:

A Screamscape sources claim that Kings Island was the park that purchased the two lightweight Gerstlauer trains used on the Myrtle Beach Pavilion’s Hurricane.

If true, then it seems likely that these may be put to use on Son of Beast, which gives me shivers. In my limited experience with Gerstlauer wooden coaster trains.

I’ve found the lightweight trains seem to run well and with good speed on coasters with lots of straight track, but things get quite rough on the turns and we all know Son of Beast is all about giant helixes, so we’ll see if SOB continues to bring the pain this year.

Kings Island were quick in buying new train's, If this is true, the speed would increase and it may go over 80mph, which is going to hammer the track and supports. More pain for everyone this season if SOB re-opens.

OMG!!! LMAO!!!!

Ok, *HELLO CEDAR FAIR* did you not notice that part of the reason the Hurricane went to total crap was the trains?

Wow, they really are putting the nail in the coffin for SoB. Let's start taking bets on how many years this ride has left.

What do you think? 5 years? 2 years?

I think I'll start a poll.

Wow, Cedar Fair really is dumb if they do that. Haven't they figured it out yet from their other woodies with Gerstlauers (Villain). I'm surprised they've decided to keep Son of Beast at all, that would have made a prime location for some picnic tables and a Screaming Swing!

Grizzly, this may be your last year at the bottom of Mitch's Wood Coaster Poll...

The only reason I would ride SOB now is to cash in on the settlement after those G-trains break both my knee caps.

I got my bet on <1 year. It'll probably end up SBNO part way through the season once Cedar Fair finds out how much it's costing to maintain it.

And they thought Mean Streak was expensive to maintain.

I give it a day. I thought that the idea of using the second generation G-trains may have been a good idea, since based on what others have said are less painful because of the lap bar design. Although I may be commiting suicide by doing so, I think I would do it once just to see if it is possible (or like carnage said, to score some settlement cash)

Kings Island is kind of becoming the goodwill of amusement parks this year, since they got a used coaster and used coaster trains for SOB.

I have never heard one good thing about the g-trains. I know from experience that they competely ruined Boss, this is definitely the end for SoB if it gets them.... but isnt SoB's track gauge different?

I'm not sure how much of it was the trains fault, but I thought the last season of the Hurricane was atrociuos!!! The ride was brutal, seats uncomfortable, was the worst experience I ever had on a coaster. If it was due to the trains, I can't imagine what the hell SOB will be like going that fast and bouncing around the turns!!! "Acting like a maniac......... Whiplash!!!!!"

Well if you know where to ride, the G-trains aren't that bad. Sure they still are not as good as PTC, but they have to be better than the Premier trains. I give this coaster two years until it is redone. I doubt it will be torn down, but in a few years, maybe CF will retrack this coaster, and give it new trains.

Why....just..why.....You have a slight chance to reddem Son Of Beast....WHY?!?! NO! This sucks if this is true......SON OF B*TCH!!!!

I dont know..I just cant see these trains on SOB....looks too wierd...

Uh. You looked up the wrong Hurricane wooden coaster. That one is still standing.

And if you're that upset about PTC trains (which are not bad) on Son of Beast, you'll probably committ suicide after seeing and riding Gerstlauer trains -- just thinking about Gerstlauer wooden coaster trains makes me hurt inside.

They should probably just rename it to Son of Pain after being refitted with these "new" trains. This will be the end of SoB.

Racer requires 4 trains. Hurricane only has 2. G-Trains have an awsome design. They just need to remodify their restrain system to something like PTC or MF.

I beg to differ. G-Trains have a horrid design if you're tall. When I sit in G-trains my knee's basically press against a fiberglass ridge. Which hurts like hell when the train shakes and smokes my knees into that ridge.

I simply shudder what that would feel like on SoB.
