SharkTums Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 As Robb was getting ready for work this morning I heard a strange noise at the window. Knowing that Robb was in the bathroom and not playing some cruel joke on me I actually got out of my warm comfy bed and looked outside... It was freaking HAILING AND SNOWING!!!! And it was actually accumulating on the blacktop!! The funniest part was that as this is happening I'm watching the news tell me how it's warming up and the only areas that will 'possibly' see a snow flurry are the high mountains! It was a cute, quick taste of winter. Lasted about 25 minutes, then changed over to rain. So of course I sent Robb out to get some pictures. "Oh yeah, this is going to make my morning commute AWESOME!" It's still coming down about 20 minutes later Stupid only having a one car garage...it means my poor car has to take it like a man! Our backyard area is also getting some snow/hail that's sticking too. Even Erik's child molestor van made it out to see this rare event! Here's the view from our Balcony.
GURZU Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 LoL , the climate is crazy!!! Here in Spain... the winters there are really colds, the temperature is about 2º - 10º C but this year.. the temperature is similar at spring!!!!! 20º incluse 23º!!!!!!
imaki Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Very cool. I am already at worked and missed it. Thanks for the pics!
Carnage Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 That's not even snow. Minor sleet I guess you could call it. Did the military get called in to rescue you?
SharkTums Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 Dude, you have to realize we're talking about SoCal here... We get put on storm watch when there's one cloud in the sky!!!! Update...it's still raining!
Carnage Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Dude, you have to realize we're talking about SoCal here... Yeah I know, just poking fun. I had to knock off an ice shield that encased my car yesterday. If I hadn't it probably would have eventually flown off while driving(which is always a danger in freezing weather). My parking spot was covered in huge ice blocks by the time I left.
Scaparri Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 That is kind of crazy to see. I just don't think of any place that's remotely south and by the ocean getting any snow at all. I must say, Robb's face is freakin' great.
arrowfanman Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 It's soooo cold! Of course, this doesn't really count. The last time we had "real" snow out here was mid-February of 1989. I remember it as if it were yesterday.... *obligatory wavy-flashback* -Jahan

ebl Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 We got some rain here in Camarillo, but it wasn't cold enough to snow. Had it rained a few days ago, however... Eric
cfc Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 That's not hail or snow, guys--its fallout! I'm sure your local Lowe's or Home Depot stocked up snow shovels, for which some schmucks will pay twenty bucks apiece (like in Williamsburg when it snows).
disneygurlz2s Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Trust me, if that had been Cincinnati they would have started closing schools. Seriously! This has been the weirdest winter weather-wise. We have had mostly 40's and 50's since Thanksgiving, here. No real "snow" yet, but so much rain this weekend I thought we were going to need to build an ark! Shari
arrowfanman Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 WTF?!?!? It just started back up again at my house! None of it is really sticking, but it is actually going! This is freaking nuts! There's an elementary school on the hill half a mile away from my house, and you can hear all the kids screaming! -Jahan "We SoCalifornians are so awesome!" Makanvand
NitroRider Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 You get snow!!! I live in Maryland and I've only gotten 5 minutes of flurries in November! lucky.
Tömmioh Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Wow, that is so weird. You know, we(in south Finland) have only had snow for a total of 3 weeks from Fall -> now, usually we would have had snow for a total of over 11 weeks so far... They've forecasted a bit warmer for the end of the week, which looks like the snow here would melt, and at the same time it (maybe) snows, half way down (south) the globe in SoCal! that is just bizzarre and 'spooky'.
Coaster Palooza Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 This is all due to Global Warming. Up is down, where it snows - now is warm, where it is warm - now is snow...DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER, MASS HYSTERIA!
the_rock401 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Minnesotans would call that an annoyance. We got 4 inches of snow here in Minneapolis on Sunday night, and the previous evening Iowa City was iced in. But I can tell it was a real productive day at the elementary school
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Wow... That's just not right. First my cat died this morning, then i had to walk to school in 9* weather with my hair partially frozen, and Valencia, California gets snow!
Jayjay719 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I want snow now. It can snow in SoCal...but not in New England! This winter has been so warm, if only the parks were open. So unfair....I should move to Socal....
IceDragon Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Englands just being either buffeted by rain or by wind...
Wes Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 It's been thundering a little bit for the past half an hour. No rain though. And yeah, it's COLD! Even inside my apartment.
GMAN962 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 And I thought it was cold here wow. It was raining over here earlier, but only for like 10 minutes. Conveniently SECOND PERIOD, right after I ran the mile.... ~Mike

My parking spot was covered in huge ice blocks by the time I left. We didn't get it so bad here, even though Environment Canada had up freezing rain warnings everywhere. ...Then again, E.C. put up a severe t-storm warning literally 2 hours after it rolled through last July, but I digress. P.S. I think I'll laugh myself to sleep thinking of SoCal coping with a few snowflakes.
