TexTitan01 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I cant wait to see the gunmetal train, but I think that just seeing them all run around the Maverick course will be the most beautiful thing.
jamesdillaman Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 ^ Hopefully they'll run all the trains... How many times have you seen all the trains running on TTD?
Carnage Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 ^ Hopefully they'll run all the trains... How many times have you seen all the trains running on TTD? Once or twice at most. It's not that they can't run 6 trains on TTD, it's just that they don't need to. The 6th train doesn't add any capacity. All it really does is clog up a break block that would normally be used to get trains into unload quicker.
PKI Jizzman Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Looks like they are starting to enclose the launch area! Aswell as the heartline roll work. A look

Its a waste.
CP_RULES Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 ^I always thought the extra train was just in case one of the others needed maitenance and couldnt run (like Eejanaika).
Carnage Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 ^I always thought the extra train was just in case one of the others needed maitenance and couldnt run (like Eejanaika). That's how it is typically used now. Though the ride is designed and capable of running all 6 trains at once. They just didn't plan properly for the amount of trains. Considering the 6th train only makes capacity worse, and break downs more likely.
Real Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Not to mention there is no humanly possible way to load and unload all those people in some amazingly small amount of time without any hitches doing it the CP way with 400 extra checks than needed + stapling. Add to that youve got one train on the course and another in the staging area. Impossible to be productive.
Gnome Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 yea, I hate the CF policy of loading. It's completely unneccessary.

Add to that youve got one train on the course and another in the staging area. Impossible to be productive. Actually the loading on TTD is already faster then the system needs. To operate at max capacity all that is required is to have trains out to launch and staging in time for when the launch block clears. Typically the trains in load are loaded and ready to go before the blocks ahead are clear. So they have to wait until the blocks clear to move forward. That's why the 6th train just makes it worse. Doesn't matter how many people you have loaded into trains, it's just how quickly you can get a train out to launch. Adding the 6th train just slows down clearing the brake block.
odene497 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 doing it the CP way with 400 extra checks than needed. There was a time I rode Wicked Twister and they never checked me once.
almightyfire Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 i went to cedarpoint in 1999 and the loadtimes were amazing. they were bringing those trains in at top speed and they were all running. i was there on a mon and tue in august and the park was extremely crowded but i was able to ride all rides in one day. they were running and checking bars and restraints. when i went back in 2003 that was a different story. they were extremely slow and it took me 3 hrs to ride millenium force and 4 hrs to ride ttd. i wouldnt even talk about mean streak the line was all the way to the railroad tracks and the first time i went it was almost a walk on. i saw big changes in the few yrs difference. i wont even attempt to go there and ride maverick the first yr.
Real Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Carnage - Thats probably true 50% of the time. The other 50% someone has to get out because they didnt bother to check if they were too large or not. Which, even though one train may be completely loaded, they usually dont dispatch untill both trains are ready. I agree, with no problems, load way faster than needed. But theres always the person who doesnt pay attention to the rules and bucks the entire system.
Adriel Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I heard a big rumor from Cedar Point. This summer, not only Maverick will be making its big splash. Cedar Point tells that this summer, they will open something big, something that will be in park history... "In addition to Maverick making a big splash in 2007, something else will be making its way into history this summer, and it will take the internet world by storm...... to be continued." Any idea guys?
steel Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 ^I bet it's a Pro-Slide Tornado or something for Soak City. yea, I hate the CF policy of loading. It's completely unneccessary. "Clear, Wicked Twister is launching in 3... 2... 1... Rechecking all harnesses. Rechecking all harnesses."
cprocks22 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 ^I bet it's a Pro-Slide Tornado or something for Soak City. I would hope, Soak City, while being claimed the "Cedar Point of water parks" is in need of something, although the three speed slides near the entrance are awsome Best picture i could find http://www.gallery.pointpixels.com/details.php?image_id=7245
Airtime&Gravity Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 ^Those slides scared me more than the coasters since I was not expecting the airtime. However, there was a person probably Robb's size get 2 feet off the slide.(no exaggeration, the person got far off of the slide) I was disappointed with Soak City in 2004, and while a Tornado will be great, I'd rather see something like what Holiday World has. However, anything for Soak City is great since I didn't think there was much when I went.

Any idea guys? Where did you here this rumor at? Where is your proof? Not doubting you, it just sparks my interest. Rumors have been that Cedar Point is looking into a new water ride to replace White Water Landing. Maybe this could be that new ride. I just wonder what the water ride could be. A new concept perhaps?

Thats funny. When I went there, it didn't look like much of a waterpark. There slides look like they were from the early 90's
PLCP22 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 If it is going to take the Internet world by storm...does that mean a huge new awesome website? I don't know, it just doesn't seem like it will be anything in the park. It will be something online.

TexTitan01 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Could it just be that the banner @ the top of the web page is active? If you look all the rides @ the top actually operate. Probably not what they're talking about. It looks cool though
PLCP22 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I don't know...if it will take the Internet world by storm, it doesn't seem like there will be anything in the park. Maybe forums on CP's website!
