P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

The park was packed on Friday with schools and people getting a head start on their weekend. That being said, the morning was pretty dull.

I got there at 9:30->Valravn (25 min)->Millennium (5 min)->Maverick (10 min)->Pipe Scream (0 Min)->Magnum (5 min)->3pt Challenge (10 min)->Rougarou(15 min)->Panda Express (10 min)->Chillin for a few hours while the lines picked up to about 45 minutes or more for every major coaster->Mini golf->Magnum (15 min)->Train

I left at around 5:30. It was my longest stay at the park in some time. Thanks to the people on here who told me to get funpix. Great investment.

^Yeah. It's a pretty basic course and not well maintained. A few years back the front nine got some new turf but all of holes became extremely boring. They took out the hole that jumps over the river and the hole that goes up a huge banking. It's a bummer, especially when 18 holes is your only option given that the entire red side is not going to open any time soon, if ever.

On the bright side, Challenge golf has some fancy new scorecards AND with a Platinum Pass, it's BOGO, so only three bucks a person. I like to golf when I visit and the crowds pick up mid afternoon.

I went to Cedar Point last week and decided to give Magnum another shot after riding it 3 years ago for my first time. And nope, I still hate it. It's just rough as hell and the restraint totally sucks. People talk about Skyrush at Hershey hurting their legs, but I believe Magnum XL is worse than that. I know this coaster is special to a lot of people, but if it ever came to a vote...I'd say tear it down and put up a B&M hyper in its place. And just for those that know that can answer this question, cause I don't and I'm curious cause I have never been on one...Are the restraints on the Morgan Hypers (Seaworld's Steel Eel, Dorney's Steel Force, World's of Fun's Mamba and Valleyfair's Wild Thing) the same as the one's on the Arrow Magnum XL? And are those coasters as rough as Magnum? They all look very similar, that's why I'm asking.

No, Morgan hypers (with the exception of Steel Eel) are the most forceless coasters in existence. They're very smooth but as hypers go they're also a bit dull.

Hey that second half of phantom's revenge is the most intense part of that ride. It's pretty crazy.

You obviously have never ridden Superman el Ultimo Escape at SFM. That coaster is NOT forceless, it actually has stronger airtime than most B&M hypers!

Next time you're there consider entering your times into my website for others to see. I'm trying to build a wait time monitoring site which would eventually use the data to revive something like the old whentoride.com (which went down in like 2009). Once I have a nice dataset of ride wait time information I can start to build models of the rides and their attendance.

When I was there the app was mostly accurate with wait time info (more so than the times out front) -- you can get a GPS spoof app to make the app think you are in the park and get wait time info from there. This would probably be a better base for data than trying to collect from people at the park.

^I dont understand why coaster enthusiasts should enjoy riding absolutely every rollercoaster either. I always shake my head when a terrible coaster is being demolished and people say that it's always sad to see any coaster go. It's like saying that car enthusiasts should enjoy driving any car ever made, regardless of how terrible it is.

While I agree you shouldn't HAVE TO like every coaster, I know I personally love some coasters many people dislike, so I don't think it is wrong for people to be sad or angry about demolition of a coaster you just happen to find terrible.

I'm not gonna quote every answer I got as that would make this post very long, so I will keep it to this one.

I don't hate on people, or say it's wrong for them to be sad about a coaster being removed that they like, even though other people don't like. I get that. For example I will always ride Loopen when I go to Tusenfryd. This ride holds a special place in my heart as it was the first major rollercoaster in Norway when it opened in 1988 and remained the only one until Thundercoaster opened in 2001. But I don't expect all enthusiasts to enjoy the ride, or that all enthusiasts around the world should be sad when the day comes when they remove it. If people say "I'm sad to see this particular coaster go as I always enjoyed it" then that's perfectly fine.

but the point of being an "enthusiast" is you enjoy any roller coaster...regardless of how crappy it might be and find something enjoyable about it.

^ Thanks for the pictures!!

On a side note, is Windseeker at CP ever open??

I rode the Windseeker at CP on May 13th. It wasn't open all day, but it was open. What I'm wondering is Skyride ever open? I was there two days and it didn't run once.

Windseeker and Sky Ride have the same wind requirements. It was a windy weekend last weekend so I'd imagine neither were open. Occasionally Windseeker also has mechanical issues though but it's generally down for wind. If Sky Ride is open and Windseeker isn't it's caused by a mechanical problem 99% of the time (Sky Ride, being a Von Roll almost never breaks down).

Can anyone give me some insight on how lines will be looking this week? Going Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

We went last Memorial Day Friday, Saurday and Sunday and it was pretty busy. Thursday crowds will be manageable probably. Friday a little busier, Saturday don't be shocked to see hour+ waits for Valravn, Millennium Force, Dragster and Maverick (and of course the customary 90 minute waits for Gatekeeper and Raptor in the morning). Still not awful if you don't mind a little waiting.

Thank you! I haven't been before, do you have any tips on what to ride first stuff like that?

And of course waiting isn't too much of a problem but I saw they have fastlane passes, so I could look into that too.

Last year I went Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, and Friday night was pretty good. Maverick was the longest wait, with most of the other major coasters having 25 minute waits or so. Saturday will get busy, so try to do some of the bigger rides Thursday and Friday.

I'm going Thursday, and the weather looks a little iffy at this point. Hopefully it's just a little hit and miss and not a washout. Lines should be pretty manageable.

^^You'll be there for 3 days so you'll be able to have a few stress free days without rushing around. Will you be there for Early Entry (either by staying at the park or by having a Platinum Pass)?

Yeah that's true. Early entry, yes (staying at the park)

And I'll keep all of that in mind coasterkid

You have a few options. I wouldn't go to Valravn first, everyone will do that. Personally I'd enter the resort gate and just go to Maverick and ride the crap out of it during Early Entry. Don't be tempted by the short line for Skyhawk nearby. Skyhawk is an excellent ride, but it never has a line anyway because of it's capacity. If you want you can leave there at like 9:45 and get in line for Millennium Force before the park opens to the public or Dragster which doesn't open at all until 10:00 or later because LOL Dragster.

Another option is to go to Millennium Force right away. Then once you ride that I'd probably go back to Maverick or up to Gatekeeper.

A few tips since you haven't been there before.

- You can ride Gatekeeper during early entry but DO NOT ride Raptor, Gatekeeper, Valravn or Blue Streak once 10AM hits for a few hours since they're in the front of the park. The lines will get much shorter later on. It's a shame Raptor isn't open any more for early entry. It was a great early entry ride. Walk on city for the front row (and it's the best B&M in the park... I guess I should ride Valravn before proclaiming Raptor the best but I feel pretty confident in saying that anyway).

- Dragster will have a huge line for the front row that might add about 45 minutes to your wait time. WAIT IN THAT LINE. It will be long and there's a reason for that.

- This is obligatory but it's important... Ride Mean Streak in row 1, lean forward and keep your back off the seat back for a smooth ride (there's a bar to hold onto). Failure to do this will lead to a merciless beating. To avoid slamming into Magnum's restraints tighten the seatbelt as much as humanly possibly. On Blue Streak, ride in the middle row of any car. Don't ride in a wheel seat or you'll be begging for Mean Streak. Also, ride Gatekeeper in the front on either wing. It's great everywhere but the front rules.

- At some point, get a front seat night ride on Millennium Force

- Gemini may not race except on the weekend, make sure you ride it when it does and be sure to slap hands with the other train as it goes by on the turns.

Have fun at Cedar Point!
